  1. not sure about GTRs, but i know GTS-Ts fit fine
  2. do you get gurglling when the engine is running? I get it when i turn the engine off, which you can only hear inside the car. But mines a series 4, so i didnt think they had AIV's?!? I did have an air lock, which i thought i got out as my heater is now working again.
  3. I remember seeing this in the paper, absolute class!
  4. Thats when it turns to Ash :x:
  5. Yeah, ive pretty much planned my road trip in '09 with it in conjunction with M'soft Autoroute. My zed is too recent to be on it, but i can see my FireBlade outside my house. Great little gadget!
  6. Thats very true. well it may just be the case, that purely and simply, i have strong engine. And thats something i dont intend on winging about!!! :duffer: To be honest, upping the boost is the very last thing i intend to do (unlike last time where i was a power hungry 21 year old). This time everything is going to be in place before upping the boost, ie 555's uprated SMIC's, Full GTR brake set up etc. Looks like i may have struck gold with this one, but only time will tell :wack:
  7. See i knew 9 psi was standard, hence saying the boost has been upped. Im taking my readings of defi gauges, and it boosts consistantly a 10.5 psi, and holds at this setting rather than a small amount of overboost then dropping down to 9 psi, regardless of the ambient temperature. Ill have to look at the ecu tomorrow. Has any one got a picture showing the difference between the 16bit and 32bit ecu's. As mentioned by Ste, would be interested to see. TBH this car is deffinatly quicker than my old zed when they were both at this state of tune (filter and cat back exhaust). My old zed dyno'd at 296bhp fwhp and this one has been dyno'd and 310 fwhp, so this extra 15 hp has got to have come from somewhere (cant remember what the torque figure was on my old one, but ive got the dyno sheet for this car somewhere so ill have a look in the morning) cheers for the responses Nick
  8. Peeps, Ive come to the obvious conclusion that the boost has been upped in my latest zed, as it is currently running 0.7 of a bar (10.5 psi). Would i be right in assuming that the only 3 ways that this could have been done is: Boost Jets, Manual boost controller or Electronic boost controller. My car has neither sort of boost controller, so im assuming that its had boost jets fitting. If this is that case, what size do you think they would be to only provide an extra 3.5 psi of boost? secondly, as ive never had a zed that uses jets, where are these fitted and how do i get to them? Finally, im also assuming that its been chipped to deal with the additional boost as its not showing any signs of detting. Being a series 4 (1995) is there any physical differences in the chips, apart from the fact mine will be a 32bit. Secondly, how can i find out what map is on the chip it appears to be a nameless one. Would it mean a trip up to JD, or is there readily accessable software i could install so i could just hook up the ecu to my lappy and analyze the map myself. Also, am i right in thinking that even though the 95's have a different design of injector, the actual flow rating (370cc) remains the same? Cheers in advance Nick
  9. ill have a look at my defi's tomorrow and ill let you know how theyre set up
  10. I would say go throught the insurance and make her suffer, but as my best mate found out not too long ago, even if your in a collision where its decided not to have been your fault, your premium will go up purely because youve been in an accident, so you end up paying as well for something that isnt your fault. If you can try and settle it without the insurance people getting involved, but get the money off her before you do anything! and make sure its cash!
  11. Sorted. Was an air lock in the Heater Matrix to the equivalent of 1 pint of coolant. I was fairly sure it wasnt the thermostat, not running safety boost etc. No i have 4 fan speeds because i own a Series 4 with manual air con not digital climate control. And no she's ultra shiney as well!
  12. Guy, first of all, cheers for this. Secondly, can you remind us what CST stands for, and in simple terms what it means. And finally, i know Castrol RS 10w60 used to be a popular choice for the zed, what differences are there in the performance of the oil in comparison to 10w40. Cheers fella Nick
  13. Something else to add. Ive just got the engine up to it normal running temp (70c) and with the heater fan on 4, it does blow hot air. when i bring it down to 2, it blows cold air. Going to check for air locks this avo, so will let you know if it makes any difference
  14. thats the way ive always done it topless
  15. That would be the simplest solution, an air lock in the matrix, well at least ive got something to try tomorrow. Cheers bud, sometimes it takes someone else to state the obvious for you to realise its there
  16. Just a quick reminder that today is Jap Meet at Reading. Bring a wooly jumper, it aint going to be warm!
  17. Nope. It does blow warm air, but only what i would call luke warm. And it doesnt appear to be loosing any coolant anywhere either
  18. Thermostat did cross my mind, but couldnt think of anyway it could link to the heater problem. TBH i dont know if it always been like this, but it has since ive owned it. The defi gauges have a record function, but they were reset just after i bought it, and even then i think it only peaked at 88c.
  19. Peeps, Ive got a very odd problem with my cooling system. It APPEARS to be too efficient. I think i'm right in that the quoted number by nissan for the running temp of the engine is mid 80's degrees C. Now at motorway cruising speed (70 - 75 mph), the car is only getting up to 70c, and the oil temp is only getting to 80c. These reading are being taken from Defi gauges with the appropriate aftermarket sensors, so at the moment ive got no reason the disbeleive the gauges Now the problem with this is that, being a fooking cold time of year, the heater barely gets luke warm, so im freezing my ass off inside the car. the other concern i have is that the oil isnt getting to proper working temperature which may be causing damage to the engine. Any one got any ideas on: a) what is causing this and b) how to remidy it Cheers Nick
  20. Reading is on the M4 poppet! What were you doing around my way without coming round!!!
  21. Yeah i like them, but not a 300. It just looks soooo tacky
  22. Im currently using the Meg's 3 stage in restoring the paint on my zed, and its very good, but the paint cleaner isnt quiet abrasive enough to remove the swirls. Im going to try meg's #4 next and see how it comes along.
  23. Just to give you an idea of what im up against when i say the paint is covered in swirl marks, heres a few pics i took in todays lovely sunshine Boot lid... Rear quarter panel... Drivers Door... Bonnet...  So i wasnt exadurating when i said it was cleaned with a brillo pad!  This is what ive managed to do with the bonnet so far. It looks ok on my camera, but to the naked eye under bright light, there is still signs of swirl marks When i get round to sunbscribing, ill start a journal on this for anyone who is interested in restoring their paint and body work Cheers for the kind comments, fooking love this car Nick
  24. I OWN A ZED AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought Col_Almera's zed on Saturday, and by the time i got home (i had come straight of a night duty to go see the car) i was so tired, the excitment level was pretty low. Since then, and alot of sleep, ive just remembered how awesome these cars are! It needs a fair bit of work doing, all of which cosmetic, the whole of the car is covered in swirl marks (looks like someone has cleaned it with a brilo pad!), the wheels need a dam good polish and there is the beginings of a hole is the drivers bolster which i want to get repaired. But as a whole im very happy with this one, and its mechanically sound. Ill post some pics after ive sorted the body work out, with before and after shots, and ill see some of you at the Reading and Phoenix meets in the near future. Happy Days Nick
