  1. Yep, I did that today. On my jaunts to the NW and back I can get 200m when the needle is pointing at the halfway mark and that is cruising at a steady 60-90 depending upon what the M6/A14/M11 permits. However, that is pretty exceptional and my more normal figure is straining to get 150 at the same point. This equates to about 21 normally, or less if it's all slow stuff.
  2. "He who rides the tiger, finds it difficult to dismount" - Rudyard Kipling, I think .... Anyway, a mate of mine has a tweaked MR2 Turbo and it's a pretty swift car. Certainly a good match for a Zed whilst hurtling around the tight twisty lanes, over taking etc. However, with an MR2 you have to rev the spuds off it, whereas a Zed has tons of torque and is much more stable at high speeds and on long sweeping bends.
  3. That was my first thought too ....
  4. SE did mine. You don't need laser firing gizmo's if you know how to do it the traditional way.
  5. Mine was like this, if the pic helps at all ...
  6. You should probably thinking along the lines of £150 for the gearbox off/on/clutch replacement, plus whatever the cost of parts comes to. Good clutches from Smithy at reasonable prices. Would probably be wise to also replace the rear main seal while it's apart - that is about £17 IIRC.
  7. You ought to get yourself an accurate boost gauge before you fiddle with increasing the boost - just to be safe. I was poking around the std ECU maps the other night and my calculations indicate that the standard maps support up to 13psi boost, after that I think it kind of makes it up as it goes along ....
  8. Mine was 350lb/ft @ 3250rpm - but it is an auto (or was) ! ;)

It seems there are two Lifesure Classic policies. Classic and Classic Everyday Classic is very cheap and applicable only to sub 5000 miles per year, evening/weekend use and as a second car. Classic Everyday, has no mileage restricions and allows commuting etc, but is about twice the price. Just got my quote for Classic Everyday and it's now risen from £478 last year to £528 this - bastados ! But that does Imports and declared mods .... ;)
  10. I heard that MSN was going to go as well. Could be more detail here :- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3133192.stm Not had time to read it myself yet. However, we could consider setting up our own private one if MSN does go off line. I think this would bring the 'club' togther more and I know that quite a few people on here are MSN regulars. What does y'all think ? (members only of course)
  11. It's a start but no guarantee. It assumes that the malicious code will start at the beginning of the address book, this may not always be the case. Sometimes they send to the first 50, sometimes at random, sometimes the whole lot. However, every little helps. Up to date virus protecting and a responsible ISP (who blocks SPAM and virus infected email content) is the most effective solution - apart from not using MicroShaft software that is ...
  12. Mine used to be fitted in the same place, upright and just screwed it to the polystyrene tool tray. Did have to cut a slot out of the hardboard cover, but it didn't stick up much above that. Never had any trouble with overheating because they don't even get warm. However, exchanged it for an M-Station now - much better toy ! ;)
  13. I'll be on the rollers - always interesting to compare with the others and see where the bullshit stops ! LOL
  14. Both, but the base timing is set mechanically via rotation of the CAS.
  15. Well didn't see any Zeds (or any Poopras) but I did find the hotel - eventually ... And I have to report that Nottingham is offiicially still littered with women - funny accents though ...
  16. Well I'm not going to Rock City (although I have in the dim & distant past), but I will be driving around the city looking for the Royal Moat House Hotel.
  17. Keep 'em peeled and you might see me whizzing around the city centre this evening (looking lost!). ;)
  18. I'd never use a torque wrench for that. Something like finger tight then 1/4 to 1/2 a turn depending on how tight they feel. All you have to do is squish down the crush washers to make a decent seal.
  19. I was keeping an eye out for a rusty white Zed when I was there recently, but you must've been in hiding that weekend. I'll be back in about 2 weeks, so might just pop round for a coffee and to collect the plenum - that is unless young Mr Topless has suddenly got in a great rush and had it sent by the infamous Royal Mail Partial Service ! ;)
  20. Never had that from Amazon before, but I have been ordering from them for some time. 21. Nah, Macca's not good at 1/4 miles - he's already lunched the car once doing that !! :D I'll be sticking to the rollers - too much traffic, too many speed cameras and too many risks to race on the road.

You sure it's not the bonnet catch ? Try a search ....
  23. Surely you should be racing a car of similarspec to your own - mine doesn't even run 1 bar of boost ...

Paying with cheques gives away all the bank details they need to defraud you further, and you seldom get it back from a bank, unless you can prove that you didn't sign the cheque or initiate the electronic transation. Paying with a credit card generally means you're protected and are unlikely to lose more than about £50.

I doubt it, more likely it was double swiped in a curry house etc. Alternatively, it's possible to create your own randomly numbered cards as long as you know the forumla for the checksum. This has been available on the Internet from time to time !!!
