  1. Who said that wasn't with NOS :) I am running 1 bar of boost right now with if I recall 504 rwhp without NOS. There is a link on my thread with some videos of it on the dyno at AME :)
  2. Bloody hell Nick don't give up mate. When all is said and done it's down to spending a bit more dosh. Put it to bed for a while and get some overtime in. I've been arsing around with modified cars for thirty years and I have never had one that was easy lol. I've broken down a hundred miles from home more times than I care to remember and then have to wait six hours or more because there wasn't a tow truck which could move my motor cos it was so low. Sleep on it again :)
  3. If you don't want to make the effort to go to the gym what chance the effort for working out :) Not only that but at the gym you'll get professional advice which will help you achieve whatever your goal is. Having said that there are some really good machines out there which will do the job. There are plenty of sites selling old gym equipment which is still superior quality to your link. That's what I would be looking at if you insist on home gym.
  4. Yes that's true but haven't got solid lifters and so am pretty restricted. Don't forget gears can always be changed so it's only put on the back burner for now :)
  5. In actual fact the centrifugal force applied to the wheels at high speed should give a few extra millimetres and would 'probably' have put us around the 200 mark but it was still a pretty tough ask. In all honesty the goal was only ever an aside and I truly wanted a car that could do everything. If funds and motivation allow sometime in the future we'll get a six speed sequential from Australia and give it another go :) The prop is ACPT so should be fit for purpose. At least I hope so lol. I don't think the car will be ready by then but as well Castle Coombe has very strict noise restriction and I doubt my car will pass. I've ridden the track a few times in the past and very enjoyable and fairly easy to learn. It would be really good to meet other zeds though so we shall see :)
  6. I will it would be great to join another zed :) No wife and it's not down to luck lol. Sadly the 198 was based on TT gearing so will probably be a max of around 170 ish from now :( Thanks for your comments guys. I do drive the car regularly and will definitely try to get to some meets this year. But why not join me at a trackday and we'll all have a lot more fun :)
  7. A little update on the car. Having done all the calcs it looked like the max speed would be 198 mph believe it or not :( I long considered spending more money or further compromising the car to achieve it but have now decided to give up on that goal for the time being. For myself i might continue the goal with my ZX10R but that's another story. One reason for this shift in thinking is that the car is fantastically agile out on the road. While there have been occasional teething problems (and still some to solve) this car has proven to be quite incredible to drive. So in keeping with the feel of the car next week we are fitting some further goodies which will give even more reason to smile. We have just fitted a 98+ gearbox new out of the box. Next week will be carbon prop, Quaife LSD with 4.1 Richmond gears (thanks to Nend). Following that Pete will be fitting some ali undertrays to help with cooling (and stop plastic bits falling off at speed haha). So car off the road for a couple of weeks but another track session beckons and will provide another update then :)
  8. The slicktop has less flex than the others that's a simple fact. Whether many of us drive fast enough for that to make a difference is another matter. The SWB handles entirely differently to the LWB in the same way that all shorter wheelbase cars do :) It certainly turns quicker but for someone used to a longer wheelbase it might feel like over steer. If you're looking for a zed for the track then it has to be a slicktop no arguement but for normal everyday use and motorway cruising at speed I think the 2+2 offers the better drive. All IMHO of course :)
  9. He's right. Single exit superdrager sounds great looks pants. My twin exit now looks great sounds pants haha.
  10. I thought standard was 95? Either way my car was mapped using optimax and that's what i buy generally however I have no problem using standard unleaded and if so I don't use full boost and therefore not harming the engine as far as i know.
  11. Thanks for the info. I have got the R33 brakes which work fine on the road and in fact on the track for about one and a half laps lol. Will keep looking :)
  12. And Pete was right they do lol. I'd love (need) some AP brakes or something similar. Were they specific for the zed or modified?
  13. Am keeping fingers crossed for you Nick. I will be going up to see Pete and we shall be fitting some panels to the underside in a few weeks. With luck we could have a run out in both motors :) Today while you are sweating I will mostly be going out on my new toy - 2 wheels rather than four :)
  14. No it's not a 240 :) I can tell that it only weighs 160 kg though lol. ZX10R carbon wheels all titanium bolts and fasteners maxton forks and suspension. I like zeds in my family :)
  15. Just bought myself a new zed. Picked it up from Alfreton tonight and brought it back down south. Didn't have time to pop in Pete but I did wave on the way past :) It's in black and has got 161 rwhp which doesn't sound much but actually it's bloody fast. Will put a pic up tomorrow.
  16. lol it's not my favourite place either TBH but it's got some cracking roads in the area so lot's of fun to be had :) got a few miles under the belt now and the car is mental. I had a ZX10R in 2004/5 which had 168 rwhp and this is up there with that I reckon! Wish I'd never sold it as this car and that bike in the garage would be amazing. Here's a poser. Which would you prefer? The bike or the car? Or as it's a zed forum is it a no brainer :)
  17. I was doing my shake down at Silverstone on the same day. I was not a fan of drift but seeing it (and hearing it) in the flesh makes such a difference and I thought it was pretty exciting :)

  19. As a matter of interest kerb weight of the car is 1370 kg which is about 300 kg lighter than the red one :)
  20. the tyres are 235/40.18 and 265/35.18. They are PS3's which are 'not' ideal for the track as last time I ripped the carcass off. NB. Not because they're bad tyres it was because there is too much tread for the track :) I couldn't get Toyo triple eights in time but will be getting them for the next trip to the track i hope. They are a bit skinny I guess but the car is mainly road orientated so I'm happy with that. Seat belts will be fitted to rear roll bar in good time just haven't got round to making that decision just yet. The car was a real success. As Pete reminded me it was nine months in the making from scratch and this was it's first outing (and the first time I drove it too) so all in all I'm a happy man. In the first morning sessions it was extremely slippy particularly on the new tarmac with red flag about 6 or 7 times. I spun out myself by Woodcote. It wasn't running great but by the end of the morning worked out that changing the wheels had affected the traction control so decided to turn that off and voila started running much better. All morning I'd been getting overtaken by everybody which was irritating to say the least but now we started to get some power down to even things up it started smoking out of the bends. So got black flagged and decided to block one of the breather pipes. Went out again and having decided it was my last session anyway I drove a little bit harder. It was excellent round the bends and we managed to overtake a few cars including GT3 so I was well happy. Got black flagged again though so pulled in. Turned out another breather pipe was hidden away and spitting oil onto the exhaust. I'm going to use the car on the road for a couple of months and will hit Silverstone again and see if we can nail it next time :) I might even get to use the full throttle shift next time lol. Thanks to Pete, Gary, and Dan the car looks and drives fantastic. It's exactly what I wanted and perfect IMO.
  21. it's free to watch of course :) just drive straight down into the main paddock area. With a bit of luck there will be some great motors there too.
  22. I will be in garage 9C :)
  23. Pete's agreed that I can wreck his tyres for a considerable price which means he'll be able to buy better lol
