  1. Hey Pete good to see you today the wheels look great!! Blyton Park is pretty decent though narrow though you'll be used to that from 3 sisters :) the gravel is rather large so if you go off be prepared for some rather large dents under the motor lol. I did it a few times with the MLR sprints and was worth the long trip for me.
  2. There are other garages that can work on the car. For example in Essex you have Torque Developments International who are currently tuning a formula 1 car so I expect they might have some idea, though you will need deep pockets. Having said that all engineers make mistakes it's just part of life so you won't find anyone that's perfect. Then there is Dan Turner at Advanced Motorsport Developments who I was with for quite a while and often wish I had stayed (but like I said we all make mistakes). They're near Silverstone so quite a distance from you so back to square 1. My current engineers are Advanced Motor Developments in Wigan who are fantastic and we are really pushing the boundaries. But it surely depends on what you're after in the car and that will dictate where you take it.
  3. Slick Pete Tel 07778 411568 email. pmaczc@madasafish.com
  4. Nice wheels no good on a 300zx so don't buy them unless you have some storage space in the garage you wanna fill
  5. Your apparent problems don't make it an easy answer. Not quite sure how you manage to spin it up with a slipping clutch surely it would slip before spinning?? But here's my input (for what it's worth). I doubt very much you are too stiff at the rear and in reality it shouldn't provoke spinning up. I have 500lbf/in springs at the rear and think they're about right (though further testing is required to be certain). You are a little under tyred but more likely they were cold and it was a little damp I suspect. The drag tyres I used for my 10.92 quarter mile were only 265. It does sound like you have a fair bit of lag and the set up means the boost comes in with a bit of a bang. I have a similar set up and if I don't use the nitrous the boost hits hard. I suspect the combination of damp conditions, cold tyres, and late boost has caused the problem. I can probably lend you a set of rear wheels to try out. I will be taking my race car out testing if not this month certainly early January. Not sure where as yet but you are welcome to come along to discuss with Eurospec they will be able to advise better.
  6. Yes I am running 18" wheels and 355mm rotors front and rear :)
  7. New ST-60 brakes at the front with a pair of ST-40 being modified to go rear. Full bespoke wiring now assembled and being installed into the car. We have the final dry sump fittings so these will be installed within the next week or so and we will hopefully be firing it up.
  8. Looks OK Ian apart from the fact you might have to use bicycle brakes on the front with that offset lol
  9. Unlucky Dan. Doesn't look to different to my crash at Cadwell Park a couple of years ago and we managed to pull it out gotta be worth a go :)
  10. You'll be good to go with that I am using a Link in the Zed now. Nothing wrong with the AEM but my guys are happier with the Link.
  11. That's a long sentence there Dan :) but you are bang on. We check the spray pattern on all injectors now. We have found on more than one occasion erratic or unpredictable spray pattern. In fact I have recently changed the injectors in the Evo as the ID2000 were not working correctly. The only reason we caught this was because we are using a Syvecs ECU which went into limp mode when the injectors failed. Could have been an engine if we had a lesser ECU.
  12. Yes would love one of those who wouldn't lol
  13. The work continues with a modular fuseboard will help with future expansion potentially. The dash is coming together as is the engine bay. We are awaiting some custom clutch plates and will be ready for a first test.
  14. It isn't cheap but it's very high maintenance and costs a fortune to keep running (hence why it sits in the garage a lot). Personally I wouldn't bother with launch control. Racelogic is brilliant when it's working right but I only really used it in the wet and never for launch. The zed is more fun learning on the strip IMO and I just think you need to get the runs in. You can use drag radials but that's another layer of difficulty. But well worth it when the times start to come down. Perhaps a nice set of R888's will be a decent compromise. That's all IMO of course.
  15. I've seen 100bhp cars that can't get out the 12s. Yes of course you need to practice it's no different to the race track. Drag racing looks simple enough but the reality is far different it takes time. Of course the Evo will be an easier car to launch as it's 4x4 but as everyone above suggests it's not a looker (and I own a 7 so am happy to make the point). As a general rule the Evo will beat the 300ZX in all departments apart from looks. If you're desperate to go fast and you have deep pockets you can make me an offer on the Evo :) I would never sell the zed at (virtually) any price lol
  16. I don't use launch control but many do and it works for a lot of people. Dumping the clutch is not the best method with turbos. Obviously you need to get the turbos spooling and once launched use the clutch to maintain the revs and boost. With that torque a 1.7 60 foot should be easily achievable but it takes practice to get the balance right. A set of drag radials will also help :)
  17. here are a couple that might be a little clearer than the others. The radiator is moved forward about 100mm which doesn't help with weight transfer but provides a decent space to work with. Have used the headlights to assist with cooling too as you can see :)
  18. Most of the custom parts now done inhouse by Eurospec
  19. I do TOTB every year it's just this one was with the Evo not the zed :) Power wise we have been anywhere between 725 and 450 at the hubs over the past four years. I have had the new engine built by TDI South to sustain 1000bhp and with the extra work to the heads am expecting 750 rwhp easily enough. Whether all that power is necessary is another matter. All I care about is performance and reliability so there will be a balancing act which will only become clearer during testing. But on the other hand how am I going to beat 1700bhp GTR's and high power Evo's or Scoobies at TOTB with only 750rwhp? Maybe I will have to up the NOS to 350 shot and cross my fingers! We will find out in July next year I guess lol
  20. Some testing first Gaz and if the dry sump works OK we put the new engine in :) Up to 300BHP with what we have installed but I have only used 200 so far and that with the engine on it's way out so was useful. For the new engine I am expecting around 750rwhp without the NOS so will use the NOS mostly for anti-lag and drag racing. We have progressive control so it's pretty flexible. No problem Ian as long as it's a Saturday - next year no compromise on the Sunday if the car is right we will be going for it :)
  21. NOS being fitted again. The front is back on and the interior is being re-fitted. Slow progress but maybe ready for a first test in a few weeks.
  22. The 350Z is raced a lot in the states so buying performance parts is a lot easier than for the 300ZX (and cheaper). It makes decent track car. Would be good practice for TOTB though Pete maybe I will next year :)
  23. The PS2 is a good tyre and would be far superior cold or wet however are not as good for outright grip when up to higher temperature. In fact I have delaminated PS2 on track a few years ago (too much tread) but it did grip pretty well. All tyres work best when they are in their optimum operating range. The R888 is made to work better and not fail at higher temps like after a few laps of the track. The PS2 is a compromise for all round use. So unless you use the car mainly for track or if you only have the odd fast blast on a warm day then the PS2 is the better choice.
