Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
An update from Dan Turner of AME is that the 300zx that he's built will be testing and fine tuning for peak performance at Santa Pod within the next week or so. He's expecting somewhere around 800 rwhp ready to race. He will let me know how it turns out. The good news for those who want the most powerful 300 in the UK is .......... he's building it for a customer in Romania so it won't be here for long lol

spark plugs again
Denso Iridium - IK22 in my car with no problems so far.

Anyone with a z centre triple gauge dash mount?
Use STRONG double sided tape works fine :) I use stuff at work I could probably hang 100 kilos on. Other choice is velcro but this wasn't as good for me.

If you use mastic then you'll have problems removing it for maintenance. I've used double sided tape. Took a while to get it right but looks fine now.

Does NOS Count
What do you call petrol then? It's just another fuel. The question doesn't make any sense at all. I'm also using water injection so that's three liquids I'm using to make it go.

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
yes and I'm looking forward to this one as we're less than 20 miles apart :) Speed 'potential' is just a question of money. Achieving these speeds whether it on the track, strip, or street is a question of balls and skill :)

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
lol, my engine had been rebuilt twice at least before I got it and far as I can see failed miserably within a few hundred miles twice (and both times had a LOT of money thrown at it). I've had virtually every part of the engine upgraded. I didn't have it rebuilt just to provide a dyno sheet to show off down the pub though I admit it is nice to have some recognition for the work that's gone into it. Even so I think 504 rwhp is pretty damn reasonable and I've done almost 3000 miles in it the past few months. Really the main reason we decided to add NOS was to cut out turbo lag and it worked. I take my car out at every opportunity, in fact I'll be out this afternoon. Now that's the art of engine building :) I'm not going to take it to the dyno just for a power run and I can assure you that there is at least one 300zx in the pipeline that has more than me or Macca. Dan Turner is building a car for the strip right now and should be finished shortly. I will ask him for a copy of the dyno if he'll let me have it :) And judging by the current projects here on the forum there could be a few others which will give me and Macca a run for our money. Perhaps I have the most powerful zed that get's used on the street and isn't still a project :devil2:

Big thanks to Bobgenie
No, thank you. It was actually a very nice bottle of booze

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
I think you're confused. What's wrong with a great engine and NOS? And all engine components are pretty much just 'bolted on'. It's just another component nothing more more nothing less - other than the fact it gives a lot of bang for the buck. I use it virtually every time I use my car. Why would I have it fitted otherwise?

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Well I didn't bother to put it on the dyno so it's irrelevant but I'm not sure why it wouldn't count?? The best thing about my car is not what it says on the dynograph anyway. It's the fact that it gets used regularly and the adrenaline rush that I get when I floor it beats admiring my dyno chart any day :) I know that there are a few guys on this forum building some amazing motors and I'm looking forward to them being finished so we can admire and compare them in the flesh.

No have not increased pressure still 1.2 bar. I have added 100 bhp NOS though ...........
-
What spark plugs for higher boost?
I currently running 1.2 bar of boost and (without NOS turned on) in excess of 500 rwhp and use Denso Iridium IK22 which has been absolutely fine with no fouling at all in the past 3000 miles of mixed driving. Thor, clever boys, seemed to think that NGK Iridium BKR9EIX were the correct plug. They used to foul up within 100 miles and totally useless they were :mad2: For the street you should stick with a sensible plug because whether you like it or not, most of your driving will be at relatively slow speeds :)

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
My system is set up to cut in at 80 mph in third gear and above (will not come on in 1st or 2nd gear in any event). It uses the AEM EMS which has a very good capability for NOS control. NOS can be damaging however if it's used at relatively high revs and with the turbos already spooling any damage potential is reduced significantly. Drag racing for example will certainly want to use it at lower revs but this will be more likely to cause damage. My 0 - 60 mph time is less important to me than my 100 - 160 mph :)

Water Injection - has anyone had a go with this yet?
Difficult for me to judge. I had so many mods done at the same time which included the water injection I can't say. Dan Turner who now looks after my car thinks it's a valuable modification. Having driven the car quite hard for about 3000 miles over the past couple of months I have not suffered any plug foul up or in fact any other mechanical issues. Not sure that's just down to water injection rather a really good set-up.

Yes me and it's this one http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=120 I think the power increases are limited TBH however definitely helps to keep it cool during boost

new led dash video
Hi Graham, I like the look of your work. I've got Autometer Nexus guages which I run in red. Would you be able to convert the mines speedo and main dash to look the same? And as I only live in southampton could I bring the motor to you to get the work done? Cheers Bob

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Don't really know. Don't keep the NOS on all the time though I took a mate out today with it on just to give him a taster  The pressure is still pretty high and have used it about 20 odd times. I'll keep you posted. What was interesting is that he didn't notice any lag whatsoever and he's quite right. Using the NOS and foot down it just pulls like a train with zero lag. Excellent!

Anyone with a wide arch kit .....suspension?
Adjustable camber arms and traction rods are a must. I've got the Tein Super Street Coilovers and I think it's a much better set up than before when I had Blitz springs and Koni shocks.

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
About a grand fitted (using existing EMS otherwise would have to buy controller too) and £97 to fill :)
-
Wide arch rear body, how to widen rear wheel base?
I don't have spacers. Well not on my car anyway :) Can't remember offset but Gruntpa has the same I think.

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
It's not so bad actually. I only intend to use the NOS when the weather is fine. Under normal driving conditions with the traction control on at about 8% it's exciting but relatively safe. The limiting grip factor is the front end so as long as I don't go in too fast the back will take care of itself :) Even in the wet it's OK with traction control set at 0% it's a doddle. Racelogic second best mod I've done :)

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Pretty much the same in respect of internals and turbos however the God of Thunder really messed with this car and to all intents and purposes I started from scratch. The engine's been stripped down to fit new seals and oil pump, new loom, split fire coil packs, water injection, AEM EMS, etc etc and generally just improve the quality of workmanship. Dan Turner is looking after the car. He runs Advanced Motorsport Engineering and they are absolutely 100% in respect of quality. Made a lot of changes to suspension too inc Tein Super Street. I'm running it purely as a street car but rather than increase boost from 1.2 bar recently fitted NOS which I'm very very pleased with. Dan's preference is to run the NOS using the AEM and only to cut in at fairly high revs therefore reducing the possibility of damage to the engine. Didn't have the time to run it on the dyno however they guess I'm getting around 600 rwhp with the NOS active. To make it more interesting can't use the traction control with the NOS :scared: I do drive the car quite often and the NOS has been the single most exciting mod that I've done.

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
I have had a little bit more work done to the car just to make it a bit more lairy and exciting  went out for a spin today with the traction control off and think I've achieved my aim. I've got an R1 and now believe that my car will out drag my bike for the first time. Here's a pic of the engine compartment with much of the bling removed to make way for more functional stuff. I am really inpressed by those who can work on these cars themselves because it beats the hell outa me. Didn't get chance to take it on the rolling road as a bit busy but will probably wait till the summer and next service to give it a run. Happy christmas everybody :)
-
How many people are using AEM ECU now...
Yes excellent and will run NOS as well if you're up for it :)

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
How about this one :) 504.25 RWHP @ 6770.4 rpm and on a 'proper' rolling road. Running just 1.2 bar currently.
