  1. Hey Nick, yes gonna be quite exciting I think. Might even keep up with your V8 if you ever finish it :devil2: I am taking out the red car for probably the last time this weekend but I've had a lot of fun in it and hoping the slicktop will be even better :)
  2. We think the box will be fine however the final drive ratio would most likely prevent it happening as may the aerodynamics. Once I have the car where I want it we will probably have to fit an auto final drive ratio and get it as low as possible to make it happen. W'll give it a go and if it's within reach and budget then it will definitely happen. Have spoken to Dan today and have agreed to try and do it within 1.5 miles. One of his clients has achieved 0 - 200 in under one mile he told me today. I know that a couple of years ago he installed a AEM EMS into a car which achieved 7 second 1/4 making it the quickest jap car in europe :) It's going to be fun whatever we manage I think :sorcerer: Probably make's it difficult that I want to maintain the original lines of the car as much as possible.
  3. Yes thanks Pete is a top guy and genuine too so I am pleased that he agreed to do this for me. With Dan sorting my engine I thinks it going to be a truly great car :)
  4. Well I am currently running 504 rwhp and have got about 100 shot of NOS on top so definitely already have the power. The red car is too heavy really and anything over 175 started to feel pretty hairy. I've been enjoying modified cars and motorbikes for over 20 years so have already done most things speedwise. 200 mph is one of the few personal goals on the road that I haven't managed yet so it's top of the list for next year. I'd much rather do it over 1.5 miles but if it takes a bit longer I won't feel too bad about it lol.
  5. From you I take that as a compliment.
  6. 0 -60 times? Why are you a car maker?
  7. From what I can make out from your various posts I imagine you find most exciting things pretty pointless. And I'm pretty certain that my acceleration figures already are and will be far more enjoyable than your own anyway.
  8. Slick Pete will be starting on my new car in about two or three weeks. He's going to strip out most of the mechanicals in the slicktop and get the bodywork right up to scratch along with a few other jobs :) The engine and electronics from the red car will be put into the slicktop by Dan when Pete has done his stuff. There are going to be a fair few new parts so there will be lots of good stuff up for grabs at very reasonable prices. Pete will be sorting out what's to be had from the slicktop and there will be some stuff from the red one and of course the rolling shell will be looking for a new owner. Not much in the way of details just yet but will be posting a thread in the for sale when we know precisely what's going. What is certain is that while I won't be stripping the slicktop to the bare bones I won't be keeping aircon and various servos etc to keep the weight right down. I guess my main performance aim is to exceed 200 mph. I managed 196 mph on my ZX10R after spending a bloody fortune so this is my last chance as getting too bloody old for it lol.
  9. I get my car done by Dan Turner at AME. He does specialise with AEM but it took him an age to get it running right in particular fuelling issues. He will get the job done and will sort out all your issues no problem including suspension etc. He's at Silverstone. Call him on 01327857577. Here's the website and just tell him Bob Dixon recommended you. My name won't help you but might get me a discount when I take mine back later lol. http://www.advancedme.co.uk/AME/home.html Good luck mate. May I just say that I admire you for doing so much work yourself and it must feel pretty cool to have done it but, you wanna car that might reach 200 mph go to someone who does it for a living. At least then if the wheel falls off you got someone else to blame :)
  10. Custom exhaust twin 3" pipes HKS superdragger back box (5" single exit) Yes i agree nothing wrong at all and sounds amazing. I really want my new car to stay close to the original lines as far as the bodywork goes and therefore has to be twin exit :)

  12. Maybe I can chip in here. It the engine out of red car which will be planted into the slicktop. It's a new project which Pete is helping me with. The engine already achieves over 500 rwhp and that's with the boost turned down and the NOS turned off. It has recently completed just over 3000 miles without the need for a service and manages to do a lot of things well but none of them perfectly. In other words it's a compromise between an all out track car and an all out road car. I am asking the same of the new car. My criteria was that it could just as easily do a trip to the riviera, silverstone, or santa pod without worrying about being high maintenance. The red car kind of achieved this but failed a bit on the track due to brake and oil surge issues. Oh yes, also down to Michelin PS2 tyres not quite being a good as the price tag lol. These issues will be sorted for the new project. A cheaper exhaust may well achieve the performance but I'm also needing reliability and long life. If I can get what I want for £200 then I'll gladly take it. I'm not a brand snob and neither is Pete just don't want to be let down by shoddy parts. And if we need to wait a little longer for what we need or pay a little bit more then that's what we'll do. And of course it sadly means I'll have to do some overtime :( Anybody want a single exit exhaust lol
  13. Of course that all depends on what you deem to be enjoyment because to me they're two entirely different things. Like a lot of guys (presumably not you and a lot of other guys on here) I remember watching my motorsport heros like Senna, Rossi, Schumacher, Button, Hamilton, and in fact every single racer perform doughnuts and burnouts. And I think that I'd love to do that but my tyres cost me a bomb and I can't afford to ruin them. Then one lucky day my tyres need changing and I don't have to worry about the cost so off I go and fill my boots with some major tyre smoke. Personally these days I'm lucky enough financially to ruin a perfectly good set of tyres and I have and will continue to do so :)
  14. In much the same way that you commented on the fact that I bought sub-standard tyres perhaps :)
  15. forgot I also got a slicktop for a project :)
  16. I got the red one for going fast and the white one for going slow :cool3:
  17. I'm talking about Michelin Pilot Sport 2 and I don't believe they could be called anything but a decent tyre TBH. To get back on thread, the point I was trying to make was that I push my car very hard and suffer the consequences of damage to various parts. It's entirely likely that most people may feel that justified due to the fact that I did this at the track. Personally, I think we should have our fun as we see fit and where-ever we see fit as long as we don't endanger others. I don't tend to spin my wheels these days but not too long ago I wouldn't be seen dead doing a three point turn when I bit of wheel spin would do the trick in much less time :) In fact as my rears are still in good nick and I'm gonna change them for Toyo Proxes I might do some doughnuts myself this weekend
  18. not going fast enough round corners then lol. My garage thought it was due to the arches digging in at first but the tread has started to roll back as I would expect but then has started to lift quite clearly and can just see delamination around the tyre. This was at Silverstone and car was being pushed extremely hard. I think it may have been due to slightly low pressure but just not sure. I'll be going back to Toyo Proxes next. I'm surprised though that someone in the trade for ten years never heard of it. Do you test bicycle tyres by any chance?
  19. yes you must treat these cars with kid gloves. I managed to delaminate my two newish front tyres going bit too fast. And these were pilot sport at around £250 a pop. Bent a track rod end too. I won't even mention the discs and pads over heating lol.
  20. Thanks all and particularly Pete who got me a mega present :)
  21. hmmm, I've seen Valentino Rossi do burnouts many times. Is he a chav?
  22. yes very nice vert. I love driving mine too but I have to admit I like to get the roof down and just kick back and enjoy the scenery. I did consider mods but decided to keep it pretty much standard and enjoy the vert as it was meant to be :)
  23. No doubt the single sounds best particularly with over 500 horses coming out of it. Looks OK too. I'm not biased as I've got both :) At Silverstone last week with radicals, touring cars, race cars left right and centre I had a few people come and tell me mine sounded better than pretty much anything else out there. Except a crazy Ferrari which kicked everyones arse in the sound and looks department :)
  24. I think you've done a fantastic job and without doubt one of the best that still 'looks' like a zed. The engine bay is a work of art IMO. A lot of the high performance zeds just seem to spend their life in the garage but I get the impression that yours won't be one of them. Pity you hadn't finished it a bit earlier as it would have been good to compare performance wise at Silverstone. I am really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh. And I would definitely vote it car of the year :)
