Japshow Finale
talk's cheap my friend and so far that's all you've done. Exactly what is it about you or your car that thinks challenging me or anyone else to a race has any merit? There will be plenty of zeds at santa pod this weekend and your opportunity to actually walk the walk. So stop talking the talk, get down there and show us what you can do and earn some respect :2guns::tt2:

Japshow Finale
Coolq, IF my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle. Well I won't be there and anyway I have absolutely no interest in racing you down the strip in my zed. But I can tell you that some other zeds will be there so you have the chance to show them your rear end. But oh dear you have a water leak which probably means that like many before you it'll be lot's of talk and no walk. Only joking sure you'll be there :tongue_smilie: I'll look forward to seeing your times  PS. I'll be there on the 1st Oct thinking if you really wanna race I should bring my convertible to give you half a chance

See above you have your wish. Now it's up to you to show us what you can do :)

Pod challenge set vg30dett vs ls3
If the weather is OK I'm going to the pod on 1st/2nd October for a few runs and I think a few other zeds will be there. I certainly wouldn't bother with this weekend except to enjoy the show as you'll get very limited runs on the strip I've been told. Against that car I think you'd be better off head to head rather than 1/4 times then at least you'll have a chance by getting off the line quicker. Unless it's an auto of course :)

Brighton Speed Trials 2011
That's not bad at all. I was going to modified but it's cancelled so most likely will do a final rwyb on 1st/2nd October if you're up for it :) I reckon you should have maybe changed up to fourth what do you think?

Well if you think that's how it works why don't you get a Honda Civic engine fitted for a sub 10 second run http://www.mitsubishi-fto.net/ukfastestfwd.htm

Full throttle upshifts?
lol well I haven't used it yet because Dan fitted a switch that I don't like. You can set it up for whatever you like but 4500 is good for the zed I think. The gear changes would be better and of course the main reason is that you don't lose boost during changes :) When I get the right switch fitted then I'll let you know. By the way mine is run by my AEM.

Full throttle upshifts?
keep throttle pinned, depress clutch which throws a switch and engine revs drop to 4500 via EMS (lot's of backfiring) foot off clutch back to full throttle :)

Well I'm not an expert at the 1/4 but I do understand the principles behind making a fast time. In the video I get beat by just over a second by a car which had less power than mine. Lot's reasons behind this, eg, it was built specifically for drag racing, it was stripped to the bone, it's power band set up to suit the 1/4 mile, suspension set up for the strip, and looking at his launch a much better driver too. I'm fairly happy with my times but would like to do better and get to high 11 secs if possible. Better people than me are suggesting my times are excellent for the car and driver so I'll take that :) The only way to appreciate how fast my car really is would be to experience it doing what it was built to do and that's go fast on the road or short track. I'm really keen on getting some racing in next year either hill climb or time attack but my main target is to do well at TOTB. So if there are any other budding racers out there who fancy joining me let me know. Or better still anyone who already races who could teach me a trick or two :)

I don't have clue about those times really though my first top speed run at TOTB hit around 170 mph from a standing start over 1 kilometre (that's when I burnt out the spark plug as all times after were quite a lot lower). At the strip I am not using launch control or traction control (though I have both installed) as I'm trying to learn the craft. The terminal speed is more an indicator of power and shows the car's potential for a 1/4 mile time but much as I'd like to improve I'm not going to modify the car to better those times and will have to rely on launch and faster gear changes.

Anyone going to modified madness?
I was going to book this but it's been cancelled due to lack of interest it seems

I'll let you know :) Dead right and my car is set up as a fast road car and is a massive compromise in every way. Add a few kinks in the strip and it becomes a sprint where mine would do better. The zed has aquitted itself well as a road car at the strip IMO even considering my own inexperience at the 1/4 mile. As a matter of interest there were three crashes of one type or another on Sunday so whether the track was a factor or the rain I don't know but I believe it did affect times generally.

If i wanna do a ten second I'll just roll my ZX10R out lol I believe the 'car' is capable of low 11 seconds but I seriously doubt whether I am :) To then go any faster eg 10 seconds I would think we're talking very expensive sequential gearbox or automatic perhaps. I'm still all about the handling but if I can get a respectable 1/4 mile and the car in good form I believe will be competetive at TOTB next year :) The main thing is I'm enjoying myself and learning at the same time.

as you can see from the video my 60 foot is cr@p and that's what's messing my times up. I'm really wanting to improve so that I can do well at TOTB next year but probably won't do any more as I don't enjoy all the queueing :(

I went to santa pod for some more practice and getting my arse kicked (it's character building) Only managed 4 runs again but that was due to rain. Here's me doing a 12.4 and 128.6 terminal speed but the other guy runs a 11.3 :)

Anyone going Santa pod for RWYB?
all the forecasts say's it's gonna rain but what the hell if it get's called off we'll go for a spin in the countryside lol

I am tomorrow :)

Handleing
Well set up can never be 'too good'. I usually have 31 psi in the rears for fast road and of course much less for track. Tyres are a major factor if you want to go round bends fast and the best all round tyre that I've had is the Pilot Sport 2 which are almost as good as T888s in the dry and phenomenol in the wet. Regarding your suspension set up suggest you get it adjusted for performance rather than 'looks' :)

Which Big Brake Kit
I'm using stoptech and they're great brakes. many of the time attack guys are using them so you know they're good for a bit of abuse.

Aem rolling road tuner
Thor mapped my red car and it was cr@p. Dan Turner at Advanced Motorsports Engineering maps mine.

Has a Z32 ever competed at TOTB?
melted plug :crying:

Rears are 265.35/18 and fronts 245.40/18. The bumper is twinz and you would probably need to get it from z1 motorsports in the states though I believe someone might be importing now. The tyres are Toyo R888 and they do grip well in the dry :)

Anyone going to modified madness?
I am at santa pod 21st Aug and wasn't planning on doing any more comps this year as was going to enjoy the car on the road for a month or two without breaking it any more. However I might just come to this and if I haven't seen you already will bring the seals :)
