  1. Absolutely right no NOS allowed so will leave out the bottle for time attack. Mine comes in over 4000rpm from third gear only so only any good for top speed sprints really. It would be good to have it for spool up for quarters but I'm not gonna worry too much as it's still very much a road car so as always a big compromise. We've just installed a harness bar for the T/A scrutineer so now all ready to go. Looking forward to seeing you there :) Nice looking car by the way :)
  2. Good luck James!!! Are you going to do TOTB this year? If i don't see you before I'll see you at cadwell in May :)
  3. Yes it did read a bit like that didn't it :) No what i mean is the front will ''track' road imperfections like white lines etc or a bit of camber.
  4. 9.5 fronts for the road will result in serious tracking issues. Be fine for the track but not so good on public roads methinks :) However on track with a rear wheel drive car it's preferable to have wider rears to help balance heat uptake between the front and rears.
  5. I booked it through these http://www.trackdays.co.uk/ not sure who the organiser is. I agree fantastic track for both bikes and cars and a really nice venue too. Not going to do the whole season probably just cadwell and brands. Will do TOTB11 as well and maybe the odd quarter to practice for TOTB. If the car's still whole will probably do a few more we shall see lol
  6. I'll be doing a trackday at Cadwell Park on Sunday 18th March. It's quite reasonable at £149 for the day so wondered if anyone else fancy's it :) It really is a beautiful circuit and very technical to drive. I'm using it as a test for Time Attack as that's the first round in May so why not come and see what you can do a lap in and compare that to what they manage in a couple of months time :)
  7. Dan just sent you a PM about AEM. Was your diff ready made with gears? Just that they don't just slot in and they do have to be shimmed which takes a fair bit of work and small tolerances.
  8. I've gotta quaife diff with leader gears in with na ratios. Spacing has to be done but my engineer did mine when he fitted it so doesn't have to be sent in. However why not let them do it. I'm not an expert but I think the casings are the same :)
  9. It does sound a bit low but could easily be right. Mine's weighing in at a bit more than that. I saved weight by removing the usual and a massive saving by installing carbon seats. Also my wheels are about as light as it gets. Corner weighting definitely helps with handling :)
  10. here's a link that Dan posted. The quality isn't great but it's all i got I'm afraid :)
  11. Nothing this year so far but here's a few from early last year. I will be setting up a proper camera this year for time attack and TOTB so hope to have some better stuff :) http://www.youtube.com/user/bobgenie/videos
  12. As a matter of interest here's the facebook AME link showing some of the engine rebuild and this pic shows my car in front of the Monstaka GTR35 awaiting some serious mods. Dans comment makes me smile and so it should all 300ZX lovers :) http://www.facebook.com/advancedmotorsportengineering#!/photo.php?fbid=10150634058029259&set=a.10150571781184259.400359.105250384258&type=1&theater
  13. I got a 98+ box from the states cost me £1300 plus duties :) it's been fine though I don't kill it on launch just in case :) Agree with that they're shit
  14. No thank you for producing a great motor :)
  15. great in the dry but totally useless in the wet or when it's cold though and the problem is I used extra sticky tape and it's gonna take a lot of effort to scrape em off lol
  16. Totally road legal and you are absolutely right :)
  17. Good write up by Pete and the update is the water pump failed and spilled water all over the show and messed up my late braking fun lol. The datalogger from the ECU has shown no overheating from the off so that's good news and also that Pete was right about being 'on it' as that was also the fastest along the straight for the day :) It was the end of Hanger Straight and I'd just dropped from 5th to 4th not sure of speed but it was pretty exciting :) The best news which Pete hasn't referred to is that my car lived with GTR 35 over three/four laps and actually was faster along the straight. The only issues arising from the day were water pump, serious suspension knocking where the rose joints have worn, and my dodgy heel/toe action gone rusty through lack of practice :) My next test session will be with proper tyres and I expect to be quite a bit faster.
  18. I agree and here's a pic of mine which I ran nearly thirty years ago. Sticking the supercharger made it a seriously mental motor lol. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150227774211264.365959.551111263&type=3#!/photo.php?fbid=10150504221236264&set=a.10150227774211264.365959.551111263&type=3&theater
  19. That's the one and not a bad price either. Creatine is OK just don't expect miracles coz if it was that good they'd ban it lol. You need water but if you drink some during your workout then use some to mix up your MRP that'll be plenty. Now I'm off to the gym myself :)
  20. Well if you were a fish eater losing weight would be easy :) Syntha 6 cookies and cream or vanilla are the best. Dietwise, you might try to follow a low GI diet similar to what diabetics have to follow. Lack of meat means you won't be getting much in the way of creatine so you would be advised to supplement with that. In fact I just get basic powder and mix it with my MRP after training. Have fun!!
  21. The best (and I've tried them all) in respect of price, quality, and ease of use is Syntha 6 and can be got fairly cheaply if you browse. Just be aware of the different size tubs so you don't buy the 1 kg tub go for the 2.2 tub. Being a vegetarian can be difficult but shouldn't stop you achieving your aims however if you are a proper veggie (don't eat fish) then you have to be cautious of high GI foods like pasta and bread etc which can lead to high bodyfat levels. You don't have to lose bodyfat to create muscle. The more muscle you build will burn the fat off quicker anyway. It's a complex subject and you'll get lot's of conflicting advice but here's mine :) Go and buy any muscle or fitness magazine and pick any training programme it really doesn't matter which one. Follow it 'properly' for a month then go buy another mag and pick a new one. You could do the same with diet but in simple terms eat less calories than you burn and lose weight, eat more than you burn put on weight. By the way I've been a vegetarian for nearly thirty years in which time I've competed on a national level and I worked in strength and fitness for 15 years.
  22. George White in Swindon if they're still open are very cheap as its their discount clothing store. I got mine from there less than half price and current style too
  23. Here's a link to some of my build http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=140708&highlight=200mph I don't really do shows TBH I would rather drive it than look at it :)
  24. stella added a link to my original project which among other things was to achieve 200 mph in the zed. If my only aim was the 200 mph then it would have been achievable in theory anyway. My car definitely has the power but the two things which make it more difficult is the gearing and aerodynamics. I looked for another gearbox and considered a special build with a longer final drive ratio but cost was prohibitive. We then worked out that we could get 198 mph with what we had and if we was to use slightly bigger wheels then it 'was possible'. I then got interested in racing it at TOTB and time attack so changed my thoughts on it. At the end of this year I will consider what to do but I might give it another shot if I've got the funds. I have a contact who can get us track time at Bruntingthorpe so if you're gonna have a go let me know and we can sort it :) By the way about 4 cars hit over 190 mph at TOTB but did so in about half a mile so I think they would have easily done the 200 given a slightly longer run :)
