  1. PS. This was my car before the off at Cadwell and it was exactly what I wanted it to be. It's now back on the road doesn't look so nice - actually like a bit of a dog sadly but at least it's working lol. Still not much seat time so Croft will be first test. I will definitely fit the gopro this time just in case we get any more flying time in.
  2. I had a think about this today and for myself think that we should join as a team as soon as possible. I don't mind admitting that I'm not really a team player and have always gone pretty much my own way. However I do run large projects with anything up to 500 people and I have learnt that the best way to suceed is to work together and if we're going to be a proper team we need to start now. Rather than join as a number of individuals we should join as a team and that will help to give us a sense of belonging. It will also help to focus our attention on our goals as a team and as indivduals and help to build a strong unit. Let me know what you guys think and let's see if we've really got the potential to actually create something worthwhile. I somehow doubt a 300zx can win the event but a team of 5 plus can certainly make a mark and who knows we could do well in the team standings.
  3. I went onto the website today to enter individually but they have a separate team registration where we enter all the team details and pay all up. I have emailed Dave to determine whether we should do it as individuals. IMO it would be better to get it done as a team ASAP and then we can work on the details as we go. What's the general concensus?
  4. This is what I use and most people don't even know I have an handsfree on https://jawbone.com/headsets/icon/overview
  5. Swann do loads of them. I can watch my CCTV on my iphone live and it records motion activated. They make lots of models and are not expensive.
  6. Actually in fairness all my issues were easily repairable we simply didn't have the knowledge to work them out :( so far I've only managed 10 minutes seat time in the new car before binning it however it's almost back together and hopefully we won't have the same throttle issues next time out lol. It's still a great weekend and here's hoping this years will be the best yet! Teams can be 5 - 10 cars if I remember rightly and it would be ideal if we were a one make team of at least 5. Is that asking too much?
  7. Oh well there you go it's not that tough then. Maybe I should get a pulsar.
  8. I will definitely be going whether with my race car or road car is still not confirmed. I'm happy to be part of a one make team but I'd like to see some confirmation from others asap otherwise I will be joining the Eurospec team. Either way my car will be looked after by Eurospec as they will have a fair few entrants (probably). I'm more than happy to help and advise if it's wanted but the best advice I can give anyone right now is don't do both days! For two years I have mullered my car on the Saturday and not been at the races for the competition proper. I probably will be there for the Saturday but won't be running. I still think it's one of the best days out there and a perfect event for the modified car driver/owner. I also seem to think that a 300ZX can do well overall and the more cars we have there will increase the chances. This an opportunity to improve the cars' image as per another thread on here but the 'only' reason people should go is to have fun and enjoy putting their car through it's paces. However be warned. Trying to do well at TOTB is a car killer! Top speed runs, quarters, and the handling course are tough enough on their own but all three together is extremely hard on the car. I intend to pace myself this year and try to keep the car working for the whole event. As they say you can't win it if you ain't in it!
  9. Thanks James it was pretty crushing but I've always known taking the car in this direction meant the risk was increasing a lot. I had hoped for a bit more track time though :) Looks like your day went pretty well look forward to the updates.
  10. Firstly well done to James that wasn't a bad time at all. My car is quite messed up but I am absolutely fine. Most likely reason for crash was pedals too close together meaning I pressed throttle at the same time as braking. There was a lot new with the car and a lot of bespoke elements but we were working on it right up to the last minute and went with what we had. When doing the roll cage the welder put all the pedals to the right of the steering column. It was obviously going to be difficult but time constraints meant I decided to live with it and try and work it out. On Sunday night we were dropping the seat height as I couldn't sit in the car with my helmet on and was hitting the roll cage with my head so focused on that. At the same time we decided to lift the throttle pedal as it was sitting low. So running the car on Monday was simply going to be about a first test unfortunately the first thing we found out was also the last lol. We hadn't even been able to map it as they couldn't stop the wheels spinning on the dyno! I also didn't realise the locking mechanism was still on the doors and we probably did as much damage trying to force the doors open as the crash! In the end I slid out the gap between the window and the roof :) If the car is repairable (and it's a big IF) then I think there's potential to be quick. I was still warming up and on only the second lap but managed a little bit of air on The Mountain so the power increase and weight loss worked. Having said that there is still an awful lot of testing to make this car quick in the real world as we've changed so many bits it was a bit like driving a meccano toy. Will find out later this week what the prognosis is but I might end up taking my road car out on track instead. At least I'll be able to play some tunes :) More overtime needed at work still then :( Roll on Croft and hopefull complete a full session
  11. Yes you can camp Friday night usually just check with the organiser but I did couple years ago. I can provide support to all on the day eg large awning, compressor etc. Pretty sure Pete will help organise if we ask him nicely :-) I'm off to Cadwell Park in a bit hoping the weather holds :-)
  12. A team of 5 zeds is the way to go. I'm going and Slick Pete makes 2 :) I'm not up for organising just don't have the time but I'll be running if my car is still alive lol
  13. The Vaillant combi I have usually plays up in strange ways when the battery is low in the timer. Doesn't seem related but I guess you've got a wireless one so might be worth a punt.
  14. Slick Pete has already looked at this car was considering buying it for spares to sell on I believe. Yes it is from Australia and as far as I know is a genuine sale. Personally I think it's worth the money as a project but with the current glut of parts and many high spec ones for sale not worth it for breaking. Even as a project you'll still be looking at spending a lot of money but done right you'd have a great car IMO. Only snag it's a LWB so only good for the road or drag racing then :whistling: So if you want more info Pete's your man :)
  15. Yes Pete's getting the Emerald I wanted to carry similar spec so I can nick the odd parts if needed :) Yes have rebuilt my TD05's and refreshed the racing wastegates so am expecting some decent numbers. The engine built by Dan has proved itself too but I am hoping this package will reach another level but we shall see. I never even looked at the sump and replaced with my baffled sump on the slicktop :) Will we see you and James at Cadwell?
  16. I have swapped out a few parts with the slicktop and have just had it rebuilt. Still a few little niggles and is back having a (hopefully) few last tweaks. Sorted the fuelling out kept the turbos but changed engines and it was running very nice 510 rwhp at only .8 bar so am pretty pleased with it. No-one ever said modified cars were easy did they lol. I've replaced ECU with a series 2 AEM and gonna use it as my weekend car but with the option of spares for the race car. Will be going up to Pete's for a bit of other fettling around April and possibly will get Mark to fit a proper sound system. Still not the finished article but hopefully mechanically anyway next week will see it completed.
  17. I doubt if I will have the opportunity. My car isn't close to being ready and the first time attack is 1st April at Cadwell Park. I will need to do some testing before that and we are trying to get some time at Castle Coombe somewhere in March so time is short. I might bring the other car but we shall see how it develops over the next few weeks.
  18. I'm with Pete on this one. I'm all for making the car more rigid but only for the track where you'll find a flatter smoother surface generally where it will perform as intended. If I drive my slickie fast on the road even on softer settings it spends more time in the air than on the road. Clearly a bit of flex is useful on the roads. I was riding my ZX10R at Rockingham a few years ago and decided to ride home with the same suspension settings. 5 miles and two lost fillings later I had to admit defeat having spent most of the time with my ass out of the seat :) I agree that it will make a difference I just don't agree that it will improve handling on the road. All IMO of course lol.
  19. I am using NGK 6 in my road car. That's running 510 rwhp at .8 boost. This is gonna spend 99% of its time pottering around so any colder plugs will probably just result in lots of carbon deposits. My race car will be running NHK 8 and hopefully won't spend much time pottering around :-) I melted an NGK 7 at TOTB 10 on a top speed run couple years ago won't be doing that again sure I will find another way to mess my weekend up this year :-)
  20. Great thanks to Pete who's done a fantastic job and managed to put up with my temperamental ways :) The car is exactly what we envisaged and with just a few tweaks here and there when the rest is put together I'm confident that it will be competitive and a head turner for sure. Let's hope that the next stage is as successful as this one. Cheers Pete :)
  21. It was a little bit tongue in cheek :) I don't have a problem flooring my car but am absolute pants at changing gear so auto would be good for me :)
  22. I know eff all about bracket racing either but it's gotta be more straightforward with an auto if it's well set up. Left foot on the brake and push the throttle to the floor on green and hold it there till you fly past the line :)
  23. that's what it's all about Pete gotta get the heart rate up :) wish I'd been there to see that. Sounds like it was bit more interesting than our spin at Silverstone :) 14.87 ain't bad considering the conditions and I'll join you for a few rounds next year. Get a few more zeds doing the quarter and let's see if we can actually get a team of five for TOTB next year
  24. It's a fantastic result for James and deservedly so after all he's been through this season! Hope he does well again today that would be the icing on the cake. I'm gonna have to pull my finger out next year if I'm going to keep up with him lol. Then again two 300ZX's in time attack for a full season :) now that would be fun!!!
  25. Think it is 100db these days used to be 96db a few years ago. Last couple of times I've been measured at 103db and 104db though I managed to sneak in a 96db at TOTB lol. It's gonna be fun with so many evo's and there are some seriously fast cars I know Peeler is there and we know how quick he is :)
