  1. PS. Be patient it's only a week :-)
  2. I thought it was clear but obviously not clear enough :-) to clarify and so there is no confusion. I want to sell the car as is without power plant or gearbox. Ideally I will remove the engine and gearbox for myself. Then I want to sell the major components that are easily interchangeable and will help to reduce costs for the buyer. So most likely wheels, ECU, Racelogic, and sound system. The rest I would like to sell as a whole if possible. I don't have time right now to go through what's on the car but there's plenty. It will be at Japfest and then it goes to AME for engine removal. Then it can be sold. Me and Pete will discuss at length next Saturday and I will then have some figures.
  3. Thanks for the interest guys. I want to be fair to everyone and must wait until I place a proper ad before selling however I will certainly give dibs to those who express an interest in any particular parts. Let's be clear though I will only be selling major items and not splitting bit by bit. Of course I want someone to take the car pretty much as is and simply want to remove some of the gear to make it more affordable. There aren't many cheap parts on this car ;-) I will place an ad later but nothing goes until after Japfest.
  4. I haven't thought about prices yet but I'm not greedy will never get my money back so I can assure you prices will be very fair. In reality the wheels are worth a fortune and every time I drive the car someone is offering to buy them. I will work some prices out and put them up when I place the ad. I really would like to let most of it go in one just don't think I will get a good enough return unless I break. Look forward to seeing you all at Japfest :-)
  5. Having spent fortunes getting the car right I am going take out the engine and gearbox to keep as spare for my race car and sell the rest. This is not a for sale thread and I won't be taking offers for any of the parts until I place it in classified section. I will be taking it to Japfest rather than the race car which will be too loud for the track so anyone interested can look at it there and inspect at your leisure. Most of you know the car as Madmax zed and it looks the same pretty much. Various upgrades and proper matching of parts now this is a serious car. Gets more attention than my race car and is a pleasure to drive. Truly I am selling most of my toys to focus on racing as I work away mostly these days with very little spare time. I've got my zx10r and jeep for sale too :-) Most likely will be selling some of the juicy bits first then then letting it go as a rolling shell. It's got AEM ECU, Racelogic, Tein Superstreet, and have you seen those wheels!!!!!!! Someone will get a beautiful car here and I know my girlfriend is gonna be upset as she loves it.
  6. No it definitely doesn't need to be taxed! If it's been SORNED for longer than a year then there cannot be a break between end of tax and SORN however if it's less than a year it's not a problem. So if your tax ran out six months ago and you haven't SORNED it don't worry it's fine. If your tax ran out 18 months ago and you didn't SORN it immediately then you've got a problem. To retain a number the vehicle has to be: of a type that needs an MOT or heavy goods vehicle (HGV) test certificate Pre-1960 vehicles need a valid MOT to retain a registration number. I've got three cars with private reg on now and have had dozens over the years but I have always have MOT etc. However based on the above wording if I didn't have an MOT I would 'give it a go'. Unfortunately it's not so easy to push the boundaries when you can't go face to face.
  7. To retain the registration number, the vehicle must be: registered with DVLA available for inspection of a type that needs an MOT or heavy goods vehicle (HGV) test certificate Pre-1960 vehicles need a valid MOT to retain a registration number. The vehicle should also be taxed, unless: there’s no break between the date the tax disc runs out and the start of the SORN the tax disc has run out in the last 12 months It doesn't actually say it needs an MOT unless it's pre65 only that it has to be of a type that requires an MOT. Also if the tax disc has run out less than 12 months doesn't need to be SORN but if over 12 months then as it suggests there can be no break between tax and SORN. Call DVLA to confirm I don't think it needs an MOT myself :-)
  8. Not too sure about the background though Pete :) will that be the seat covers?? :)
  9. Flocked dash. And an engine and gearbox :)
  10. Some nice bikes there. I've modified just about every bike (and car) I've ever owned over the years. There aren't many standard parts on this :) Normal riding position is elbows touching knees but surprisingly it's not uncomfortable even for an old gizzer like me. Sadly time to part with it to help me focus on the race car but it will be a big loss :crying:
  11. No I bought it a couple of years ago and Pete made some measurements so maybe he can make them now :) we did make some changes to it but can't recall exactly what they were TBH.
  12. yes it's a baffled sump seems to work fine. I considered a dry sump set up but the engine was absolutely fine so have stuck with this. Maybe if I ever go to slicks I'll think about a dry sump set up :)
  13. No I'm going to take it easy so everyone can see what a great job you boys did :)

  15. R888 work fine in normal driving but like all tyres grip better when warm. They're not so good in cold temperatures or damp conditions so if you already struggle for grip they're not gonna help :) yes they will grip fantastic if you drive fast in the dry and get decent heat in them but for the road get tyres that suit your standard everyday driving style. Maybe T1R, Pilot Sport, or any of the big brand tyres are fine.

  17. My best ever quarter at TOTB last year 11.7 saw me spinning the wheels for at least the first 60 feet. It's a compromise between grip and maintaining boost.

  19. I guess we have kinda spoilt this thread :-) however I managed a 12.3 quarter with full weight. Perhaps we should discuss this in another thread but seriously, losing traction is a 'good' thing if you want to go fast. It's how you cope with it that determines whether you're a fast driver or a crasher :-)

  21. I guess it's also important to point out that the main reason I have heavily modified my car is to go fast. The speeds that can be attained at the track far exceed anything that can be achieved on the road and all that happens is the better the car is the faster we go :) watch gobstopper 2 and yes it's a great car with all the best mods and so much money spent it's eyewatering but Olly drives it so damn fast he spends most of the time breaking traction. So maybe if you're breaking traction it's time to slow down :)
  22. Yes the LSD helps of course but in my opinion having the na ratios helps to control traction rather than the other way round. Maybe it would help if the guys installed some kind of fulcrum to the throttle to keep control. I have owned a few zeds over the years and never had traction problems and that includes a pretty stock UK spec 5 years ago. I used to own a supercharged 3.1 Capri in the late 70s early 80s so maybe that taught me to modify my right foot somewhat :)
