Cornwall mini meet
I am away for the Plymouth meet but weather looks cracking for our area this Sunday (21 Oct) so anyone up for a mini Zed meet? 1100 at the Hells Mouth Cafe (coast road between Hayle and Portreath) for a late breakfast and then a drive through some of the local towns. This is not an all day affair - just a couple of hours. Attendance confirmed is: Shelton Mickeybigzed PS. If the Cafe is closed (winter season??) then we will still meet there and go somewhere else for breakfast (Smokey Joes?)

October Meet
Would happily make the effort but not here I'm afraid.

Cornwall RWYB Meet
Lisa Have just seen this post as I have been off line and "out of action" for some time. Have read many of the comments and can see the argument from both sides. I fully agree that you and Dave appear to travel the length of the UK for a Zed meet and my respect goes out to you for your dedication and attempts to organise meets/events. Club survival will always depend on people such as yourself. I work away from home (so weekends are valued) and my interests are not only Zeds (I'm afraid bikes will always take a priority and I like to attend the race meets) but I am more than willing to make the effort to travel distance if the prospects look good. I had every intention of travelling to the last Exeter meet (looked like a good gathering of Zeds) but after reading that most were attending without a Zed I have to say that my enthusiasm quickly fell flat. I agree that it is also about the people (thought I would get this one in early before someone came back with a comment) but we are not talking about a quick Monday night gathering in the local pub - some of us have to take the whole day out for this and travel considerable distance (Exeter meet would have been nearly 300 miles round trip for many of us from deepest Cornwall). The Cornish Zed scene appears to be flourishing (which must be good for the Zed club) and we now have 10 Zeds in the area that I know of. I appreciate that there is a South West Rep but the coverage area involved is just not going to work for all of us. The last meet we had in Cornall was 9 Zeds with only one other car (Royal in his impressive RX7 who also got the meet started) so I think we are certainly doing OK. Ray or myself will attempt to drum up enthusiasm (we have the same problem) for as many local "Cornish" meets as we can and if we are able to combine them with yours then that would be great. Sorry this is a little long winded but hopefully it makes things a little clearer. Shelton

Bad Vibrations !
Bruce If you need to borrow a set of wheels I have several. Tried and tested with no vibrations and all with nearly new tyres. At least you can then rule the wheels and tyres out of the equation. Live in Redruth

Cornwall RWYB Meet
All great plans end in bloody disaster. Was on the Martin Jennings Bike run this Sunday and happened to meet one of the guys who is running the RWYB at Portreath. Apparently it is for bikes only with only a few "special" cars being permitted to enter. Obviously we can still use this day for the meet if people are still up for it but its not a case of turning up with your car and taking it down the track. Bikes are fine - just turn up and blast down the runway. He wasn't sure about parking for cars but belived it shouldn't be a problem.

"$+£$"##ing car-wont start now!
Good to see someone finishing a thread with the eventual reason for the fault. Too often people are fogetting this - obviously just happy that their Zed is going again.

smoke/steam from engine bay!!!!!!!!!!!!
Might be a shot in the dark but check your power steering fluid. Mine was throwing out what looked like steam from exactly the same place and it turned out to be a small rupture in the power steering flexy pipe.

zcentre leather retrim kits
Got my leather seat kits from Nipponauto (http://www.niponauto.co.uk) who used to sell them on ebay. They look exactly the same as the Z centre kits (he may even supply them??) and the quality was first rate. Balls ache of a job to fit but well worth the effort. Be prepared to spend at least the whole weekend doing them but I would suggest anyone with a little bit of nounce could easily do a fine job. Getting the headrest of was my biggest pain. Have fun.

RWYB Meet in Cornwall
Normally limited for those wanting to take to the strip. Last time there was bags of room for parking alongside the strip. Would suggest that not many will want to race their Zeds. I normally have a go with the bike. Last year it was my ZX12R - this year I am going to blast the Rocket III up. Will obviously need to confirm full details nearer the time - when they are known. If there is sufficient interest, I can always get hold of the organisers. Don't suppose being in the senior service (RN) will pull any weight with the crab fats.

RWYB Meet in Cornwall
For those that may be interested in travelling to Cornwall. This is a copy of thread placed in South West Meeting. 22/23 September is Run What Ya Brung weedend. Event takes place at RAF Portreath near Redruth and is over both the Sat and Sun. This might be a good venue for the Cornish meet (Sunday 23 most preferable) and an opportunity for some of our more daring members to push their cars up the drag strip - no pun intended as I know most cars were being repaired at the last meet in Exeter. Although no "official" notification has been given, it has been advertsied on the local motorbike site and also on the South West Scoobies site so suggest it is a starter. For those wishing to travel distance, I have a very large field next to my house which can easily accommodate cars and camping over the weekend. We could actually make a good weekend of this with a few bevvies on the Saturday night and go to the RWYB on the Sunday. Think the gates open about 1030. Have several BBQs so if the weather is on our side this could be a good event. Pubs are a short walk up the road but this is bandit country and they can be a little rough and ready. Alternatively, drive to some more up market place. Shelton See South West Meet for list of those interested.

New Cornwall Meet - Local
Ray Can find nothing "officially" advertising this. However, it is mentioned on the First and Last Motorcycle Website and also the South West Scoobies site so obviously it looks like its happening. This whole event is notoriously badly publicised and normally it tends to go by word of mouth so lack of anything "official" doesn't surpise me at all. I have attended most years and its always a good event providing the weather is OK. From experience it is just a case of fronting up at RAF Portreath and paying your £15 for a days blasting up and down the runway. All pretty professional with timing lights, print-outs of run times etc and normally a good gathering. Will start a new thread.

New Cornwall Meet - Local
Ray I think the Run What You Brung (RWYB) takes place at RAF Portreath on 22/23 September. This event is for bikes and cars and you may be able to cajole some of the big boys to turn up for this. I intend to blast my Triumph Rocket III down the strip but can do this on any of the two days and turn up in the Zed if their is sufficient interest. I have a large field next to my house should anyone fancy camping out (free) - they can even camp next to their Zed! If we have someone ready to put their car down the strip (especially if it's against a Supra) this may be an ideal opportunity to combine with a meet. As usual, these things will obviously be weather permitting. 9th Sep is no good for me as it is a bike run that day. Shelton

Tyre pressures
Royal I think you know I won't be doing that. Cheers for the advice guys. I had been putting in 28,32 so will adjust accordingly.

Tyre pressures
What pressures should I be putting in my non standard 300zx tyres. They are: 235/45 x 17 front 255/40 x 17 rear

This Sunday Exeter services at 12 Midday
Have just got back home after being away for Friday/Saturday. Have to say that the turn out (of Zeds) is looking poor to say the least. Brother has also just had to cancel due to being admitted to Trelisk Hospital with a virus and looks like only 4 of us are actually turning up in Zeds. Appreciate that this is short notice (and I have not shot through on a meet yet) but I really do think that we should cancel and reschedule for a time and place when we can get more of a turn out. Ray - you may wish to comment. Don' want to let anyone down, but looks like it is only you and me going from deepest Cornwall. Will check my account early in the morning to see if this is still going ahead.

Grooved Brake Discs (E Bay)
Yep. That's the same ones. Many thanks.

Grooved Brake Discs (E Bay)
Cheers James. I did do a search before posting this but nothing came up. Will look again but much appreciate your response.

Grooved Brake Discs (E Bay)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-300ZX-24V-TWIN-TURBO-GROOVED-BRAKE-DISCS- Has anyone purchased these? Price looks pretty reasonable (for both front and rar) but would like a second opinion before I make an order.

Looks to me like we have the prospect of a Zed meet - with no Zeds)!

Another Cornwall meet or Bristol or Somewhere in Between
No offence taken. I believe we have a keen Cornish contingent (i'm sure we can get more than 4) that are more than willing to travel to Exeter but much will depend on the interest from those further afield. It's dead easy to cancel if it is pissing down but much more difficult to arrange in the first place. I will leave Ray to come up with the finer details but you can count me in. Bridge motorcycles and Riders are enroute so its never a wasted trip to that area. I'm in the market for another bike at the moment but I don't know what.

Another Cornwall meet or Bristol or Somewhere in Between
Paul I don't think its a case of people being "scared" of the rain. I enjoy a good drive in the Zed (prefereably with the targas off) but have no wish to do a 300 mile round trip if it is pissing down. Also, I guarantee that people will shy off at the last minute and not turn up. I think a lot will depend on how much interest there is from those further afield than Cornwall.

Another Cornwall meet or Bristol or Somewhere in Between
Presume we are talking about Sunday. Smokey Joes at 1000 it will be. Suggest we find out who is interested in this before we all clear off to Exeter. Confirmations so far are all from Cornwall: Shelton Mickeybigzed John Lowndes Ray I am also presuming that this will be weather dependant so would be advisable to check forecast.

Motorbikes and suspension
Suspension is just one of those things I really don't understand. Have read a number of books but I'm afraid I just tend to take mine back to factory settings and then harden it up slightly to compensate for my 17 stone. How much did it cost?

No probs mate. My brother attends and he is not a member. He doesn't even have a computer!
