1. Searched on the net and found this. It's similar but not quite. This is described as matt gold.
2. Saw a GT-R in Bradford today in a very unique but fabulous colour. It was a kind of matt yellow/gold colour (hard to describe). Looked absolutely amazing and I'm sure I haven't seen this colour before. Unfortunately I was driving so couldn't take a picture but have searched the Nissan UK site and it's certainly not an OEM option in the UK. Any ideas? The Z would look amazing in this colour (I think!).
3. Congratulations!
4. It would certainly be nice to talk to him. Thanks.
5. I'm in a bit of a dilemma and would really appreciate your advice. I currently own a Z32 NA manual, which I've had for almost a year. The car is very clean, drives very well and in fact has just passed its MOT with no issues. Ever since I bought the car, I have always wished that it was a Twin Turbo and more importantly, red (it's white). All year, I've mused getting it re-sprayed etc. but didn't bother on the basis that it simply isn't cost-effective. I had therefore made up my mind that as soon as it passed its MOT, I would sell it and then look for a clean RED Twin Turbo. The problem is that each time I drive it, I'm reminded of how clean, genuine and reliable the car is and that by buying another, I might be taking a huge risk. Although the white (pearl) has grown on me over the past few months, the fact is that if it were blood red, I would love it. What should I do?
6. Thought so and good luck to you! I went to see it last June as it looked great in the photos, but was quite frankly shocked when I saw it. It was kinda sad to see such a great car neglected like that. From memory, the paint was faded, the lights looked cracked, various panels did not look quite right and in summary, it was a mess. Not sure how they managed to get the photographs they did. Needless to say my wife walked away within 2 minutes; I hung around for 5 out of honour for a once great car. How's the last year been then?
7. What speed rating should the NA tyres be?
8. Car's aren't usually known for showing their love by passing MOTs! :-) BTW, used Mr Clutch in Basingstoke and was fully expecting them to fleece me. Having said that, at only £26, was happy to give them a go to at least see what they came up with as I still had 4 weeks of my current MOT to go. Even the HIDs did not attract a comment! He's normally a very fussy character and recently failed my wife's Micra for having a slightly "wobbly" door mirror.
9. ...and very pleased. My Z had its MOT today and passed! No problems, just advice that my front tyres are on the limit. To be honest, I was not just expecting a failure but a need for some serious cash. Not that I am aware of any issues, and in fact the car is very clean (mechanically and bodywise), however you still expect something major to come out, especially after reading some of the posts on this forum!
10. Still ugly as sin...IMHO
11. Nissan certainly messed up the design, i.e. it could have been a stunner (as was the Z32 in 1989) but instead it's just a new and attractive coupe/saloon. Even a 370Z with the GT-Rs abilities would have been a much better combination. Love the GT-R though, despite the average looks.
12. I almost agree but I have to say that the letters "GT-R" are actually very well known now and people usually know the car that you are talking about. This is due both to the huge press coverage of the GT-R as well as Gran Turismo of course. Mind you, a Lamborghini is still a Lamborghini!
13. Is there a guide on here covering this subject? Something that describes the costs, process, timescales, what to watch out for etc?
14. I don't know if this is the Z that was on sale in Newbury last June...one of the photos is from the dealer ad last year.
15. Follow your heart...Lambo. Mind you, I'd personally go for a Ferrari, but then I've never driven one let alone owned one. Having said that, I applause those who have the heart and good taste to own a Ferrari; true emotion. The problem with a 911 is that they are as common as Vectras (not that there's anything wrong with a Vectra!)
16. Thanks to everyone for your advice. I suppose in my heart of hearts I knew I wanted a manual TT and I suppose I was just looking for an excuse to let my heart rule my head! It's quite clear that if given the choice (and I have a manual NA already so no need to rush), the correct choice is a manual. I shall wait...
17. The main problem with the velour in my car is that it's been bleached by the sun and is faded in some areas. When new, probably looked quite nice, but now it just looks worn. Fully agree with the paint and dye comments, i.e. would you ever get consistency?
18. Like many on this forum, you probably have always wanted to get rid of those faded velour seats and trim! There is always the option of re-upholstering the car, but does anyone know if it is possible to dye the fabric to a different colour? I have heard of people 'painting' the fabric and seen a number of products that allow you to do this, but to be honest, I would hate to think what the results might me. However, if such a product exists, it might be possible to use a brush or something similar to apply a strong, permanent dye to the fabric. Anyone know more about this?
19. Thanks for your responses and especially the detail from FS. Two questions spring to mind having trawled through the forum: 1. What's the difference in economy between the two? My NA does 28 on the motorway and I am told a manual TT is the same. What's the auto like? 2. Is the auto unreliable? What are the signs, expected life in terms of mileage and is it really a big problem? Thanks.
20. Hi guys, I'd be grateful for an honest opinion... I have the opportunity to buy a Z32 which in all respects in perfect...except it's an auto. Always been a manual die-hard, so is an auto Z32 Twin Turbo worth getting? Is it quick enough and is the experience worthwhile? How much better is the manual twin turbo? It would be great to hear from those who have driven both. Thanks.
21. I was in Coventry for 9 years (1996-2005) and didn't see one. How things have changed...
22. Just wondered how many, if any, Zeds live in your town? I live in Basingstoke, and I can honestly say that in my 4.5 years in this town, I have seen ONE other Z32 apart from mine. You could take the p*ss and say "well, that's Basingstoke!", but I have seen at least 5 different GT-Rs, a few Ferraris, Astons and Maseratis, not to mention numerous 350Zs, 200SXs, R33s etc. Just strange that never any Z32s...
