1. Does anyone have a photo of how the inside of the boot looks, showing the spare wheel, jack etc? I'm sure my bits and pieces are not in the right place. Also, does anyone have a photo of how the targa panels sit in the boot? I assume that they are supposed to overlap each other, but is that safe or could it damage/deform the panels? Thanks.
2. I couldn't agree more. I think we're on the same page!
3. Thanks for the reminder..I have 2 months left!
4. A lot of sense said there mate and I suppose it's a lesson in both economics and life, not to mention a generational thing. For those of us who remember the Z32 coming out it '89, it was a sensation and I for one fell instantly in love with it. As a 16 year old, I had posters up in my room and it was my dream car for years and years. Seeing one on the road was a memorable occasion. I even sat in one on the revolving Nissan stand at the 1990 British Motor Show (I recognised the stand manager as the salesman who had sold my mum her new Micra only a week earlier!). My point is that for many of us,the Z32 commands serious respect. For us, a decent Z is worth literally thousands and thousands and I know many here have spent tens of thousands on their cars. Unfortunately, there are also many which have fallen in to the wrong hands and are in a spiral of decline. Even insurance is now not as high as it used to be, so people who would usually drive fiestas etc. are able to buy and run these. That's not to say that there is anything wrong with that...as long as they understand and respect the heritage of the Z. I also think imports have destroyed the market. There is simply an over supply of Z32s (compared to those who really know of them and want them) and therefore prices for the overall Z32 market have fallen as there are many to choose from. The UK has been especially hit hard as models from Japan are RHD. The US however has virtually no imports due to it being LHD, so numbers are limited. The Z is also a legend in the US. I hate to think what will happen to the GT-R in 15-20 years time...
5. Your other thread was closed so I thought I'd post on here. Simply staggered at how low prices are for Zs. Very, very disappointing.
6. Not at all over the top, not when it could potentially destroy one of the few remaining British companies and in the process, have a huge impact on a large number of pension funds and the British economy generally. Why should the Brits be cast as the 'evil' doers by those who have done far worse? Not a topic for a Z forum I agree, but since the thread has already started, might as well throw my 2 pennith in.
7. I'm fully behind BP on this, especially after the hypocritical cr*p coming out of the US. For anyone who has worked in a corporate environment, sh*t happens and you just have to deal with it. It's a pity no-one has the gal, morality or the authority to demand that each and every senator and congressman explain in detail (and be punished for) the disasters and atrocities that the US has been responsible for and inflicted on the world. Yes, the spill is a disaster but nothing compared to what had been inflicted on the world in the name of the US. An utter disgrace and as ever, we just bow our heads in fear.
8. Correct, although like Si I was delighted when the badge was removed. Nissan has a penchant for silly and inappropriate names. Read Cherry, Sunny, laural, Gloria etc. Mind you, Micra was a stroke of genius.
9. I think that's the problem...they're mightily impressive and command respect but not love. On the other hand, when the Z32 was released in 1989, it was love at first sight.
10. It can only be a good thing for those of us wanting to buy one in 15 years time!
11. This was around 10:30am.
12. You're absolutely correct about the badge issue. The GT-R is in the same league as any Ferrari, Lambourghini etc. from an image point of view. Mind you, it's simply known as the GT-R, and not Nissan GT-R, so may be there still is some snobbery. Same as the Mini, Beetle, Prius, Sierra Cosworth, Impreza, Figaro etc. An exclusive club though, but one that even billionaires are a part of.
13. Drove behind a bronze GT-R from J10 of the M4 in to Slough. I have to say that each time I see one, they are growing on me. It is a BIG car and very impressive in the flesh. Always been very impressed with the GT-R from an engineering perspective, but never really found the looks to justify the technical brilliance. They are growing on me though, although the front is still very weak IMHO. A definite for the future...
14. Sorry for a dumb question, but what's the difference between JDM and UK spec Z32 wheels. They look the same to me...
15. Hi, Does anyone know where I could buy seat belt extensions to fit a K11 1996 Micra? Scoured ebay, and although there are quite a few extensions available, at least 2 have confirmed to me that they will not fit a Micra. Any advice much appreciated as I'm currently having to fit the baby seat to the front, which is not ideal. Thanks.
16. Hi, The only thing I would say is that shocks and springs all round can be VERY expensive, and from a personal point of view I would only spend that kind of money if I had 100% confidence in the car and was planning on keeping in medium-long term. How long have you had the car and what are your plans. It's just that you will not get a single penny back, so if you really need to change both springs and shocks (any reason?) then there are plenty of good second hand items around at significantly less cost.
17. Thanks. Very informative.
18. The problem is I also have a wife to put on the front seat. She's not tall, but she's not a midget either, and with the front seat fully forward, even a 5 year old would find it difficult! How did you belt the seat, as it's so short?
19. Hi, Since my son was born 2 months ago, and despite the great weather, we simply haven't been able to go out in the Z as his seat simply won't fit in the back. There are 2 issues: 1. The seat is so long (one of those travel system seats) that the front seat has to be pushed fully forward and even then it's a squeeze. 2. The seat belts are tiny, so no way to secure the seat. Has anyone managed to get a baby seat in the back safely? Which seat did you use? Looks like a lovely weekend again and I must find a way of getting him in there! Thanks.
20. My understanding is that HD is only available on freeSAT (for free). HD via an aerial is not available until 2012.
21. Would these be OK on a standard car, i.e. they wouldn't cause the tyre to hit the wheel arch when turning or anything? How much are they likely to be?
22. Does anyone have a set of decent OEM front springs/coils for sale? Alternatively, something SLIGHTLY lower would also be fine. They're for an NA. Thanks.
23. Usually buy them from a Nissan dealer, but found this on eurocarparts: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Nissan_300+Series_300ZX_3.0_1991/p/Car-Parts/Service-Parts/Regular-Service/Oil-Filters/?50170002J&1&c08f8b179a2a5817207c743b7793c307942e806f&OILF Any good and has anyone tried them? Looks stupidly cheap.
