Fitting exhaust downpipes...
downpipes yeah, but the link i posted at the top is the funky elbows too, and I remember the head of the bolts being rather slim, but not to worry, I have a rather large selection of hammers that I have accumulated over many years of working on cars :hammer:

Fitting exhaust downpipes...
Ok, cheers, the gearbox will be out anyway as I'm fitting a new rear crank oil seal, can only make things easier.... :)

O2 Sensor Socket
you are very right mate, but even after snapping mine off, i still couldn't really get the sensor out with the proper sized socket, he might be lucky and they're not too bad, but that's why i removed the actual boss from the elbow, all worked out fine then, got it in a vice and could get on it proper to remove the remnants of the old sensor...

O2 Sensor Socket
I did a plenum pull for the second time last night, bit of a pain in the arse, but make sure you do the water bypass (search for plenum water bypass) and putting it back on is loads easier...

EGR question...
No pre-cat on mine as it's JDM, I thought it would be ok, so cheers matey, what's the worst that can happen? :) It's getting removed soon, it's just that I've got the plenum off at the mo...

O2 Sensor Socket
like he said, if it's duff, what i did was snap off the sensor, then a socket will fit the larger nut that screws into the elbow with a couple of long extensions, might want to soak it with oil/penetrating fluid first for a while, then after I had removed it, i put it in a vice and removed the middle O2 sensor part, oiled it up, then fitted the outer part back in the elbow, then screwed the new O2 sensor into it, but as said, 22mm O2 sensor/lambda sensor socket, basically a deep 22mm socket with a slot in the side, hope this helps matey... The problem I had was that the nut part of the O2 sensor seemed quite soft and rounded, that's why I had to take it off from the elbow instead, also watch out for the lead on the sensor getting twisted and damaged as you turn it, just keep your eye on it and un-twist as needed...

Fitting exhaust downpipes...
Is it possible to fit these elbows with the car on a lifter and the gearbox removed, or is it an engine out jobby? http://www.japspeed.co.uk/Nissan-300ZX/Exhausts-and-Manifolds/Nissan-300ZX-Turbo-Decat-Downpipes/p-18-72-248/

EGR question...
I will be removing it when I have the gearbox out, but just wondering if it'll be ok in the mean time with the pipes to the plenum cut off and blanked and the solenoid not plugged in....?

EGR question...
I've got my plenum off at the moment, just wondering what would happen if I was to cut and cap the EGR pipes that go to the plenum? (and put blanks on the plenum of course) The slenoid isn't plugged in, never has been, I'm planning on having a go at removing the EGR when I drop the gearbox to replace the crank oil seal (car will be on a lift, thinking it might be possible)... What do ya reckon?

Crazy guys tried to attack me in the Zed today in uxbridge
(*Disclaimer* I would never do this, neither should you :) Just keep his registration written on a piece of paper stuck to your sunvisor, keep yours eyes open, maybe one day you will see the car, little bit of following, confirm the driver, then, erm, start planning, eye for an eye... Probably best if your not in your zed tho, i think he'll recognise it somehow, maybe give his reg to as many of your trustworthy mates as you can, I know I'd keep my eyes open for mate who got shafted like that... Thinners....? Anyway, don't do anything like that because it's bad, mmmmmkay? ;-)

rough tickover
check all your plugs and connections that you can see under the bonnet matey, give them a clean, you might find they have some green gunk on them, injectors, coil packs, PTU, CAS, anything you can get to really mate..... That's where i would start anyways, and it's free :)

Beer offers?

Throttle body modification
there is also an argument that it doesn't open fully for a reason (it is only a very small amount that you can adjust anyway) because of the shape of the inside of the plenum, it is already set at the optimal angle, and adjusting so that it opens fully could well have the opposite effect you desire.... Have a read of this mate and make your own mind up.... http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/182732.html

small tapered pipe under plenum needed
i did similar, the 2 sizes needed, with some fettling and swearing they will fit inside eachother, i superglued em, stuck a perfectly round jubilee clip on and stuck something the right size down the pipe to make it solid, left for a few hours, removed the jubilee clip and it's bang on, i'll probably change it to the proper one one day, but after about 18 months it's still spot on...
