Heated seats...
Yeah, dead right there Si, also, I went through an un-avoidable (due to the tool behind me, didn't want him turd burgalling my Zed) and unexpected small gap between cars at 40 MPH, and if it wasn't for that magic button, I wouldn't have any wing mirrors left, just folded em in in time. I felt really cool afterwards, like I was in a film or something, haha (sad, I know) :hyper:

Tps.....
Yeah your right, I'll sort it tomorrow, but, if I have to move it even a fraction, my idle will go up to 1500rpm, maybe it's crackered.... I'll let ya's know how I get on... http://www.es-ab.se/z-car/IdleTech2.html

When did you first fall in love with the zed?
I'll second that Matt, took me a month to get rid of mine, 55 is my new lucky number!

When did you first fall in love with the zed?
Back in 1989, I was 6 years old. Me and my Dad are both musicians. He was playing at the launch party for the Z32 with his band, and me and my Mum tagged along. I walked into the showroom and instantly fell in love with the car, and said to my Dad (at 6 years old) that I was going to get one, and 19 years later, I got one, never stopped looking for one, but worked out of the country for 3 years, so as soon as I got home, bang, bagged mi self a Zed! Also, I'll never forget my Mum getting a bit ambitious with the free wine and champagne, and removing a targa and dropping it! Didn't break and landed on some carpet, so she got away with it, haha, ahhhh, the memories! :duffer:

Tps.....
I marked it precisely first, so I can put it back, but I need to edit my first post, it is fully CLOCKWISE not counter clockwise... I've done all the tests, resistance, voltage etc. and got it perfect on the multimeter at least, but idles at 1500rpm, the only way I can get a nice idle is to have it fully clockwise... I've got the info for setting it up again, have already done it but will triple check everything is right tomorrow, could it be knackered? Should I be able to rev the engine between idle and 1500rpm? BTW I cleaned all the connectors up today, whilst I was doing all the necessary tests....

Fair do's............. ;)

Tps.....
Right, I'll try and make this make sense... I seem to have drastically improved my dodgy idle (fast/slow fast/slow) by fitting some new IC/intake pipes. (I'll come back to that fast slow crap in a minute)... It sits nicely at 750rpm, although does slightly randomly fluctuate +/- 50rpm, is that normal? But, if I press the accelerator as gently as I can, it jumps from 750 to 1500, it is impossible to get anything in between. Now, referring back to the fast slow idle, if I adjust the TPS, at the moment it is fully counter-clockwise, as even the very very slightest movement clockwise, sends the idle to 1500rpm, exactly as it was doing with the dicky idle. I can move it all the way clockwise then to no effect. Is this normal? Also, now it is sitting at 750rpm reasonably nicely, I thought all was well, but it hesitates when you first press the accelerator, gives a bit of a cough and a splurt, then shoots into life, and also will stall whilst decelerating (it's an auto) if I don't have the heater or anything else that pulls a load switched on, which is not much fun when you lose brakes and steering! Any ideas? I have done a vacuum test, slight leak which I fixed, changed all visible fuel lines as I had a leak, replaced IC/intake hoses as 2 were cracked, removed, tested and cleaned the AAC valve and the Idle control valve jobby thingy, and cleaned all connectors I could find ... Tommorrow I will be removing, testing and cleaning the air regulator, any other thought or ideas on this? Any help is vastly appreciated!!!

Heated seats...
I ain't got em then, just thought I'd ask.... Cheers... Oh, I'm sure there's a switch missing from that pic? Ah yeah, that's right, that's where the switch for my electric folding mirrors is

Clear back lights

Clear back lights
Will do matey... Second one is done, did it slightly different, glued the diffuser in place, jusr waiting for it do dry, then back slaving away in a hot kitchen :-)
-
Clear back lights
Just done my first one, no problems with the oven, turned it face down for a minute or so too, that was a big help, came apart no probs... Put my clear diffuser in, put it back together, but wasn't happy with the positioning of the diffuser, so heated it back up again, and prying it apart, chipped a piece of the outer face off! There was some serious bad language in my kitchen I can tell ya... I think I can repair it so not really noticeable with some black epoxy resin and some patience... Ah well, at least the next one will be right! (famous last words) :-)

Clear back lights
Scratch that post, just found it and switched my oven on, this should be fun...

Clear back lights
Can anyone tell me where there is a 'how to' to do this? There is a link in the FAQ section but don't work, I was reading one just the other day, but can't find it for the life of me! Cheers...

Zed hunting
But, mine being a Jap import, hasn't got the seatbelts on the door, and hasn't got lap belts in the back... ?
-
Zed hunting
I bought my jap import off ebay 18 months ago, and still haven't got it on the road, he told me one of the oil seals on a turbo had gone, as it was smoking, easy fix he said, ha... took the engine out, recond the tubs, dropped it back in, same problem, turned out he had blown a hole in a piston, and completely knackered the bore, so a re-bore, 6 new pistons, a new exhaust, rebuilt all behind the dash as he had butchered it, changed all the pipes etc. and I still ain't got it on the road, I would if it weren't for that damn idle problem I just can't shift. Don't get me wrong, I love the car to bits, love working on it and have learnt soooooooooo much doing it, but that scenario isn't everybodies cup of tea... The moral of this story, is, if possible, take someone who knows about a Zed with you to view it, or do plenty of research, or just by silver streaks, it's a beauty!!!

Zed hunting
If I remember correctly, if you get one straight from japan, you may need to do a couple of slight modifications, ie. gearbox oil cooler (not sure if that only applies to autos or not), rear fog light, convert speedo/odometer to MPH, and maybe a few other things, I'm sure someone on here can tell you soooo much more than I can tho :-)

zed on ebay
I used to have a 100NX too mate, haha, so ain't slaggin it, just merely commenting on the resembelance ;-) Although comparing it to that does seem a bit harsh, hehe.

Auto box gear changes...
I've got the switch in the middle, and overdrive on, I have only pottered down round the block a few times, as it ain't MOT'd or taxed yet :nono: And, the engine at least is always warm before I take it out, cos I usually trying to get it running right first, then check it. I haven't had chance to get on an open road and do 60 or 70 yet, it might be fine, could be me being a bit paranoid, but it just doesn't feel right.... Cheers guys...

How come?
Quad cam sounds better tho, and technically then it should say 'Twin cam 12 valve'

more updated pics
Where did ya get that spoiler from mate, I want one, mmmm....

How come?
How come the throttle cover says 'Twin Cam 24 Valve' when it's a quad cam??? Just noticed this today, haha...
