Idle problem...
Hi all, before i describe the problem, I'll tell you that I have an intermittent fault with the dett. sensor which I have re-located to ther upper plenum in the usual place, which sometimes doing a diagnostic reads 55, sometimes 34, i don't know if this could be a factor.... The car idles perfectly until warmed up fully, then starts to drop to about 600 rpm for 1 sec ish, then up to 1100 for a sec ish, and keeps doing that for about 30 secs, seems to sort itself out, then does the same again about 10 secs later, but revs and drives fine, until i stop and set off again, then hesitates before going, then fine (it's an auto)... Perhaps a vacuum leak somewhere? I would of thought if it was, then it would do the same when cold, but only does it once fully warmed up... If it is, what's the best way to find it? Seeing as there are plenty of vacuum pipes to choose from :-( Any help is appreciated guys, and I'll be fixing the dett. sensor prob soon, gonna use my initiative, as can't afford a new look just yet :-) Cheers...

1mm boost jets...
Cheers pal, forgot to mention she's got an Apexi induction kit, and a straight through de-catted exhaust, so maybe she'll be around the 370 mark, that's nice to know, yay.... :-)

ECU identification i have no23 with a knob on side
Easy peazy mate, that variable resistor you were talking about earlier, (if the ECU is in situ) turn it fully clockwise and keep it there for 2 seconds, then fully counter clockwise, that'll put it into diagnostic mode, as for the codes, do a search, you'll find all the info you need on here somewhere I'm sure, but if you get '55' (5 long flashes, 5 short flashes) then happy days, that means all is well in camp Zed :-)

After market boost gauge
I've tried to insert an image on this, but don't know if it will work! There is a T-piece on one of the vacuum pipes going to the IC (i think) on the left hand side, it is bunged up at the moment, is that where you would connect a boost gauge to? There was one in the car when I bought it, but wasn't connected, if I can find it I'll connect it up, could do with a genuine reading! Cheers...

1mm boost jets...
Cheers, that could well explain the blown piston, that's how the car was when I bought it! Thanks....

1mm boost jets...
I've just been looking through the paperwork that came with my Zed (Trudy) :-) and there is a reciept for the fitting of 1mm boost jets, what do these do, where do they go, and is there any power benefit? It has a Mines ECU which I whink was fitted at the same time, other than that (as far as I know) she's stock... I've done a full re-build, 1mm oversized pistons as the bore was crackered, and re-con stock turbos. After she's run-in, what's the estimated BHP? It's a Jap import 92 auto, just curious :-) Cheers...

riding a randy duck
Sounds like it's something on the suspension if it happens when you sit on the wing, dodgy shock absorber maybe? HTH

leaky door rubbers!
As for the speed limiter mate, does your speedo read in KPH or MPH? You can get a cheap and pretty easy to fit converter that connects inbetween your speedo and the ECU (behind the speedo) and that converts it, and removes the limiter, IIRC, but if it's already reading in MPH, then not sure, ECU remap? I'm sure somebody else will know soooo much more than me :-)

Question about starting the Zed in the cold
Haha, great minds think alike :-)

Question about starting the Zed in the cold
As many people have said on here before mate, one of the worst things you can do, is start her up, and leave her to warm up just idling... Long story short, oil is thicker, and not much pressure at idle, so it doesn't reach the dry and very crucial parts at the top of the engine. Best thing is really to just get in and drive, but obviously don't give it the beans till warmed up..... I would think your belts should be ok, they surely are designed to withstand cold weather, providing they are already in good nick....

Speed sensor repair...
Hi all, as you probably know, I have been after a replacement speed sensor for an auto box, couldn't get one, so have repaired my own, dissmantled it, coil was ok, but the magnets had lost their magnetism, so re-magnetised them with a big magnet, put it all back together, and hey presto, works perfect! I'm chuffed, and ya never know, this may help somebody else with the same problem....

Speed sensor :-)
Hiyas, anyone got a speed sensor for an A/T for sale by any chance??? Money is tight at the mo, so going to Nissan is a massive no no... ;-) Tudor...

dress up kits
Bang on that is Munny, that's the kind of ride I want, but I would want an 'un-dress' kit for it instead, haha ;-) That'd be the only time I would actually want a bit of pinking or knocking to occur, and, no, I'm not going to make jokes about bushes, haha :-) :-) :-)

Stock boost gauge...
Hi, my stock boost gauge is not working, well, it twitches a little when I rev the engine, but that's it... I will be fitting an aftermarket one at sometime, but would like the original to work, can anyone tell me where the pipes etc. or whatever could be causing it are located, or if it is a sensor? Cheers ya'll........ Tudor...

Dett. sensor test...
Hi all, I think I have a faulty or cream crackered dett. sensor, but the loom isn't as good as it was, is there a test to check if the wires to the ECU are sound? (ie. using a multimeter, certain resistence, voltage etc.) Cheers guys.......

Engine
Right, cheers, I was a little heavy handed briefly, but all seems to be well, so fingers crossed, no damage done, but at least I know for the next time it comes out, cheers....

I did mark the fly wheel tho, so they are lined up at least.... :-)

Engine
Sorry for jumping in here, but is the reason for leaving the torque converter on the gear box due to balancing, because I didn't :-O I left it on the engine, then removed it, I kept it flat and only lost a very tiny amount of oil putting it back on, does the gearbox oil pump fill the T/C? I have driven it, and all seems well, but does seem to rev a bit before moving off, but I think that's just cos of the beefy zaust, hehe, but having never driven one before, or before I re-fitted the engine, I have nothing to compare it to. It does seem ok tho, so maybe I'm being paranoid.... :-) Cheers guys...

Speed sensor...
