  1. Pah. My car made it to 7th in the RWD 1/4 and 4th in the RWD flyers after being finished at PowerZed on Saturday and mapped between Leicester and Elvington. The work was only started a week before TOTB, with the body of that work consisting of a manual conversion and custom turbo fitment, all-new blow-through MAF setup. Even if the main build isn't finished, I have a 570bhp setup to fall back on and a few stock engines in reserve :D Entry on Friday night, boot camp, main event and camping for the competing vehicle. Plus entry and camping for a support vehicle & driver. More points for a one-make team, so take the TT
  2. A single task shouldn't stop you from entering a competition in 6 weeks' time :wack:
  3. They are different now. We've unfortunately lost Mikey, and I'm waiting to hear back from Silverline. Current lineup: 1. Jaffa 2. Noz 3. Iangreenfield 4. (adl)phoenix 5. Slick Pete 6. Silverline 7. 8. 9. 10.
  4. There were stronger synchros & other internals introduced in 1998. Known as the "98+ Spec" manual transmission.
  5. The relationship between kinematic viscosity and temperature varies at all temperatures when comparing a 5W30 with a 5W40, let alone a 10W40 or 10W50. There are not just two points on a graph at 40°C & 100°C to consider. A 5w30 oil is too thin for a 25yr old VG (and most other 25yr old JDM engines) in the UK, which was the specific oil viscosity mentioned in the thread.
  6. I have a couple of arch rollers kicking around if you'd like to do mine :D
  7. Base pressure is 3bar (43.5psi). This is set with no vac line attached.
  8. It's best to do a full diagnostic test rather than hoping by swapping out parts. Saying that, I have currently got a car at mine that has MAF and/or loom issues, and that either runs very lean or very rich depending on if the original MAF or my spare MAF is connected. No codes, but slightly different voltage outputs which completely alters the AFR. Quite concerning really, given that the car performed faultlessly on the dyno a year ago, and a MAF swap a few weeks ago at another place didn't change anything. It's when sensors go out of spec but don't fail altogether that can have you chasing your tail.
  9. How long have you been using 5W-30 for? It's too thin, both when cold & especially when hot in a VG30DETT. I have had brilliant results with HKS 10W-45. The oil is made by Idemitsu and one I recommend.
  10. Breaking a highly modified UK TT Manual. Was due to be built into a full-on beast of a car until I discovered it was a CAT C back in 2000. Having investigated the cause, it is likely to have been from an interior fire. The shell is in good condition, but the V5 is worthless :( Ray's Volk Racing Challenge 17" Alloys & good tyres: £400 Wilwood 335mm Big Brake kit. 11. The engine is out, typical for this time of year before TOTB :wack: Bespoke tubular exhaust manifolds are being constructed. Exciting stuff! Engine spec has been decided on. No more stock VG. Turbo frame has been decided on, actual model I'm not so sure yet. ^^ eBay churbo used for mocking up purposes.
  12. Do you mean SARD AFPR (adjustable fuel pressure regulator), and the attached gauge? The engine would have been under load when it was about to cut out (low RPM, medium-high load area in the fuel map). At this point, the FPCU will apply battery voltage to the pump, as opposed to 6v under idle conditions. This most likely will have accounted for the increase in pressure observed.
  13. Blitz dump valves (BOVs) for sale with hard pipes with outlets for vac lines. £100 for both.
  14. Noz posted a topic in For Sale - Parts
UK clocks for sale. In good condition, showing 106k miles. The lines are reflections from the overhead lights.
  15. Full Wilwood front brake upgrade. 335mm drilled discs 4 pot Wilwood calipers Alloy mounting bells EBC Green Stuff pads £500
  16. Full stainless exhaust system from the elbows back. In perfect condition, like new. £300.
  17. Yes, definitely read the conclusion! I think the original article is still online somewhere, not sure where. Lots of pics and whatnot. I used to have it bookmarked about a decade ago :D
  18. Don't forget there will be support vehicles for the competitors. Everyone should come for the weekend, Saturday night is funny :wack:
  19. No issues with Apexi filters on Zeds.
  20. There was a "test" that was conducted on a MKIV Supra in Japan, where the Apexi trounced the competition (HKS, Blitz & K&N IIRC). Proper digging showed the results to be biased.
  21. OEM items are manufactured by JECS.
  22. Don't buy Chinese MAFs.
  23. Nice project :)
  24. I've run HKS filters below the nose panel and also down behind the indicators without any issues.
  25. I did testing on Chinese MAFs many years ago. They are "pants" in ways that only proper logging will tell you :)
