Maybe we could look at any member (standard or premium) being allowed to buy and sell? I’m not currently on FB but do think that maybe I should join for the market. As for the tech “how to” area. In my opinion it’s not easily found, a lot of links are out of date and they could do with being clearer. I would offer to help sort this out my my technical knowledge, as proven in my recent posts, is poor to say the least. Other than that I really enjoy the close knit community (meeting other owners could be better but I think the typical owners age for our car is 30-40 and that’s prime family age which makes it hard), the format of the forum is relatively clear and it’s well managed. - - - Updated - - - Maybe we could look at any member (standard or premium) being allowed to buy and sell? Power steering pot and HICAS unit refurb
Any hints and tips for the HICAS pressure pump unit? How best to drain the system enough to remove the 4 pipes? Is it safe to disconnect 4 pipes going into it? How have people tidied the unit and pipe ends up? When reconnecting it looks like there are 4 copper washers on two of the pipes which will need replacing. How to you prepare the two threads on the others two pipes (ptf tape)? How do you bleed the unit after reinstalling?

I pretty please how the washer tank cleaned up, however I may have to buy a new neck and lid as mine have stained a bit. Whilst cleaning the tank an found that the tank measuring tube had come off and that by reattaching it to the lid you can measure how full the tank is. This is my 3rd 300 and each of them had lost the measuring tube so I had always thought it was a case of filling up until you can see the fluid in the neck. For the benefit of those who didn’t know this then you need to cover the little whole in the lid with your thumb, remove the lid and withdraw the tube, then take the reading from the tube. (I’m sure this must all be in the service manual but I confess I’ve not read it)

Will any well built oil cooler do, it doesn’t have to be a “power steering” oil cooler? https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/setrab-oil-cooler-210mm-10-row-m22-female-std110?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=ShoppingUK&utm_campaign=ShoppingUK&vat=on¤cy=GBP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6az9iPLm5AIVU4XVCh26IQ87EAkYBCABEgKq-PD_BwE

Series 2 seats....
I’m going to look at a breaker tomorrow to pull a few bits off. I can take a look under the passenger seat and see what connectors (if any) are fitted. If they look like what you need I’ll snip them off and send to you if it helps?

Am I being daft? I’m trying to remove the electrical connectors from the air condenser tank retaining bracket however they’re not playing ball. Do you need a special tool for these or are they not supposed to come off when fitted. There seems to be no give in the obvious push tab to release them.

So I had a bit more time today to pull a few bits off. Nothing overly exciting... All four parts to the undertray (I’ll be replacing all of this with new as it all got damage to an extent). Fog light. Front crash bar. This was in fare condition but some brackets attached to it were rusting, damaged or missing. And then I started to doubt that this was all a good idea. I’ve been taking things off and bagging it up to clean later and I thought I’m never going to remember where it all goes. So I decided to take something off, clean it then put it back on for some instant gratification and remind myself why I’m doing it. The oil cooler support bar. That and looking at some pictures of Joel’s engine bay have done me the world of good.

Thanks guys. Does anybody know of alternative coolers for the power steering unit?- What’s this part called?
I’ve not seen a standard horn nor cover. Can anyone confirm please? I believe the larger of the two coolers is the oil cooler. What is the smaller one for? The oil cooler looks to be in fare condition (however I may fit an updated one while I’m here if recommend) but the smaller cooler is showing its age.- Power steering pot and HICAS unit refurb
Hi guys I’ve seen a few power steering pots looking like new. Is draining the power steering fluid relatively simple? How have you got the new finish? Is there much to worry about when it comes to refilling the system? Same sort of questions for the HICA unit. Obviously it’s not painted, how would I go about getting this removed and refurbished? Cheers Chris.- What’s this part called?
Thanks again Simon. So something like this should sort things out? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-riveting-pliers-including150-Riveting/dp/B0735H845M/ref=asc_df_B0735H845M/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=275572147651&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1285926419184911330&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006886&hvtargid=pla-406743211141&psc=1- What’s this part called?
Thanks Simon. While removing the above components I’ve found that one of the “nuts” just spins. Nothing that a set of mole grips can fix but I was wondering what these nuts are called and can they be replaced? - What’s this part called?
