  1. It's always been the norm when dealing with trade suppliers but if it's a retailer they should should really state the price inclusive of VAT
  2. Well- every day's a school day......... I painted the woodwork in my daughter's room with top quality expensive oil based satin/eggshell and after 18+ months it had yellowed yet the next door room was done in water based and didnt yellow. I had no idea about the UV thing with oil based. Thanks for your info, her room doesn't have a lot of natural light......
  3. Its a bit slippery!!!
  4. Not all 300zx have side repeaters. USA cars dont have them
  5. Try Nissan - - - Updated - - - Or a breaker, just needs a delicate touch to remove it.
  6. I just clicked the link.....it hasn't sold yet, the auction has 2 days to run (currently £53)
  7. Anyone got any idea on the condition of this - BGG 280K?
  8. Top TIG...all gorgeous. If you can weld to this std you'll never be out of work
  9. .....the auctioneer won't be doing his job properly if he doesn't "run it up" near/to the reserve. The real skill in auctions is spotting when there are no other real bidders when the auctioneer is "running it" (even if he appears to drop the hammer as sold). You can then approach the rostrum to find out if there is a bid on it and make an offer. I have bought many cars after they have been under the hammer
  10. You're not alone on this. I think he just needs to bite the bullet and fit a Rolls Royce RB1-11 jet engine!
  11. As Si says too narrow unless you are going for that stretched look. 10j wheels need 265+ (ideally ++)! Good luck with your quest!
  12. Some very tasty craftsmanship in this job. Good luck
  13. If you buy the best at least you're going to have a good chance that the turbo wont disintegrate and get ingested by the engine.......however........some people (Noz is one of them)have had great success with cheap chinese turbos.
  14. So sorry Alan, I mentioned that this was previously yours. I didnt mean to give the impression that the body kit etc was your handiwork. I sold a manual conversion to "badmonkey" which was fitted at the Garage, motherwell. The bodywork was done around the same time if I recall. It then disappeared. (I think it developed an engine problem and after spending a bundle, it was one job too far, so to speak)
  15. I just had a look at my shorty, I didnt realise the sail is welded onto the doorshell, I thought they were bolted and interchangeable.
  16. As mentioned, I read that the swb and lwb doorshells are the same (ie- doors are same length) it's the glass and other ancillaries that are different.
  17. The upside of getting a fresh import is the fact that usually the structure of the car is genuinely rust free. I was amazed the first time I bought a car "straight off the boat". The underside/chassis/suspension components of 12-15 year old+ cars looked like they were 6 months old. No rust/dirt/claggy muck etc...anywhere. They were so good that you could polish the underside, Nuts, bolts, washers, clips, brake pipes, hoses, fittings etc ec shiney and almost like new. I took a Mitsubishi jeep for its first MOT and the tester thought the car could've been a "ringer" when I told him it was 13 years old! He brought other staff in to see it. There are downsides to imports but getting a fresh one can be an easy route to a structurally superb car good luck
  18. If you've spent £5000 on an engine build.................you know you need to get the best timing kit........
  19. Has it been running and cut out? If so, leave it 30-60 mins and try. If it fires its possibly the ignition amplifier (PTU) breaking down. (Common) it will probably do the same next time it gets hot enough. Also, give the plug going into the crank angle sensor (circular ally component on front of passenger side cam belt cover) a wiggle. On mine this has had a habit of making poor contact and cutting the engine.
  20. I just watched the video. That unit is impressive, though I noticed they disconnected it after starting the engine but left the battery disconnected, isnt there a danger of damaging the car's electronic systems by running the engine with the battery disconnected?
  21. If the quality is as described for the belt/pump/tensioner it looks like good value. However, bear in mind, any import duty you might have to pay and also the hassle if any part is wrong and needs changing. (I bought a set of discs from US about 10yrs ago and one was wrong........I got a replacement but it was added grief) Good luck
  22. Not a compact as a micro lens but great quality
