  1. Nice stuff mate. Ive got a new set of kyb to fit along with a pair of new rear knuckles and bushes etc. I've also got polybushes to fit but am having second thoughts. Car has Zeal coilovers- look the part but rock hard on softest setting. Not good. Your car will feel really new and planted with that lot
  2. God bless. So young. So sad. X
  3. http://www.lepsons.com/ I'm thinking about getting some wheels done here
  4. I just checked these on ebay. I must've gotten a right bargain. They're a good bit more than £15
  5. Sometimes you find them going v cheap on ebay, I got three NOS SKFs in 2 seperate listings for about £15 each.
  6. If youve been over gravel or loose chips at any sort of speed you might have picked up a small stone stuck between the brake disc and backplate. I had that on a car on friday.
  7. I've had these symptoms on several cars over the past 18 months and after exhausting all possible mechanical/bearing related causes it has turned out to be .......tyre wear. A vectra with directional pattern tyres on the front that had a bearing noise which was louder as the car slowed to a halt. It didn't change side-to-side when turning/weight shifting etc and after consulting with several other mechanics I ended up suspecting gearbox/drivetrain/bearing wear. I blew the tyres up to 45psi and the nosie changed, I dropped it to 18psi and the noise changed, all the time still clearly giving a bearing type of drone. I reset tyre pressure to 32 and swapped the fronts to rear.....lo and behold .....the bearing noise transferred to the rear. The tyres were just slightly more worn on the inner and this caused the noise. I has it on an audi tt, delivered to me complete with 2 new rear wheel bearings to fit and a diagnosis of worn bearings. Again the noise went away when the tyreswere replaced. Good luck I hope you find it..
  8. Each to their own, whatever works for you. I've heard there can be risks with crap moving about during flushing but ive never experienced it. Yet.
  9. Absolutely. A flush or additive whether its wynns, diesel, forte etc won't repair a worn lifter but it will help clean a clogged or sludged one. It doesn't always work but I've had more than enough success dealing with dozens of rarely serviced and tapetty engines to know it's not a bad thing.
  10. .......you're spot on actually....and he's the first to admit that he's a bit weird! But he's definitely a petrolhead and a total speedfreak
  11. ....that's not how you even spell "awesome" !
  12. What he said + add a good flush before draining old oil and drain it hot of course
  13. I just read that Jeremy has slated the Beeb over Top Gear and sort of said he's been sacked.............. another article speculating on possible replacements suggested Guy Martin.....though having read his autobiography I dont think it's his sort of thing, he's not a journalist and he could be an even looser canon!
  14. ...it got lost among his postbag full of cheques...for his advisory services!
  15. ! Remember: 1) If you dont vote, you cant spend the next 5 years moaning about politicians/policies/etc 2) Politicians want people to not vote. Having lived in a totalitarian dictatorship (China) for 10 years, trust me we need to keep our democracy. This is a great country- even with its faults! For a giggle - check out George Carlin Voting on YouTube
  16. Not really. The Polish builders and plumbers and joiners came here and during the recession....those jobs in Poland were filled with..believe it or not..Germans...what irony. Work opportunities dropped back in Germany and the Germans went to Poland!!
  17. Dont forget - the conservatives and a large proportion of LibDems voted for deregulation of the banks and opening up of the financial markets to easy credit etc and some of the current front bench were in the financial industry and making a bundle during the high times. It's widely accepted that no matter what party had been in government, we'd have ended up in the same or similar position. I read somewhere that the only country in Europe that didnt experience recession was......Poland!!
  18. This general election will be the most interesting - in Scotland especially - for decades., more so than the indy referendum. It's generally been a traditional Labour stronghold and so far it looks like they will be wiped out at the election by a massive swing to the SNP. It will be riveting viewing! And the older I get the more cynical I think I've become. As Mark Twain put it- "If voting made any difference, they wouldn't let you do it!" Actually....It does make a difference- especially to those that get voted into parliament!
  19. send the just the left hand, dont need anymore arms, and I'll send some arches
  20. If you have enough time, patience and luck, you'll probably get what you're looking for. This usually happens when you're not looking! The issue is that these cars have, like lots of others, turned a corner and are now rising and commanding strong money. A lot of the members here giving feedback have experienced restoring/improving/maintaining these motors over a long period (some 10+yrs). They have been into these cars since they were relatively expensive, then cheap as chips and now they are climbing again. They know the ins and outs of the cars and compared to other hot jap cars of the era, a zed is one of the most complicated and frustrating and potentially expensive cars to own/repair and maintain. There are loads of dressed up dogs out there as you have witnessed yourself and they're not cheap. The last one I bought is a SWB slicktop manual, volk wheels with new goodyears, big HKS turbos, 3"turbo back exhaust, HKS twin plate clutch, endless zeal coilovers. HKS boost controller, 555 injectors, ECU eetc etc. Only on UK roads for 3 months before dropping compression on one cylinder. Car still started instantly. I paid £500! That was 7.5yrs ago and I came across it when not in the market for one. I will hang onto it for a long time. But- it was 2007! Not today. good luck with your quest.
