  1. tight of budget than get the import spec ones - they are cheap. UK spec ones over £135 each due to the actuator for hard setting.
  2. you mean yours goes great then? mine too!
  3. There's a little transmitter called linex that you can find on ebay. Costs less than £20 and transmits in pretty high quality stereo. It has a lead with a 3.5mm jack plug that fits pretty much any MP3 or Palm etc. About the size of a cig packet. You simply tune a button on the head unit to the channel selected. Of course technically you cant use it in the UK. The transmitting range is about 50 feet so if you are in a traffic jam and everyone around tunes to the frequency they can all enjoy your taste in music!
  4. I have a front one on - strut brace and i cant remember whether it feels any different. I guess it must affect torsional rigidity though. As for HICAS imho it's great if its not worn with sloppy inner or outer bushes / ball joints and the rear end has to be sound and properly aligned. No doubt people will say its better without but most of the time they are comparing a worn out or badly adjusted mess of a rear end. When I got mine the rear HICAS arms had been replaced but the handling was bad, especially in the wet, and tyre tread was dissappearing fast. I discovered 8mm toe in at the rear. They hadnt re tracked it properly. Once that was done it was and still is superb - with new UK actuator type shocks also.
  5. I see how you simulate it now. Its an interesting result but that 18bhp loss you measure would not necessarily happen on the open road when you have max cooling air through the rad anyway by virtue of air speed. The fan doesnt do anything after about 30mph airspeed. I would doubt the Kenlowe would kick in either after 30mph either. You'll find it only comes in in traffic. I would also think your power output could be well down on that test not only due to the fan drag locked up at 6500rpm but also partly due to the intercoolers now being roasted due to no cooling airflow through them. Hot intake air means reduced volumetric efficiency and a power drop. Think you would also be at risk of going to safety boost as det could have been brought on by hot boost air.
  6. How did you simulate the viscous fan power drag? Did you lock its clutch up? What was the power drag when it was in slipping mode which is what its in 99% of the time? Also was 18 bhp the max draw and at what rpm? Be interested to know.
  7. dont suppose any of these are available on pdf?
  8. Sprinkle it with washing up liquid and or biologic washing powder and a little water to wet it - soon as it rains it'll do the rest.
  9. Bell Direct lets you apply full NCB to a second car - both mines insured for full business use.
  10. And it adds a fortune to your insurance quote:)
  11. turn on econ. When you flloor the accelerator the ecu drops out the compressor anyway to save power for what you want it for! Use auto once a fortnight to keep the system healthy as explained by Fraser
  12. You should find stuff on a search on this - the water feed hose to the turbo on the battery side is the probably. Its about 4" long and 8 or 10mm dia. Its a pure bitch to change as there is no room up there. They are all breaking about now.
  13. the time delay would still be there wouldnt it? Like when you use the stick to select a gear there is always a short delay before it does it. Kind of defeats the point.
  14. by dipone paint has just bubbled - You wish - just give it a good hard poke with a screwdriver -it'll go right through - sorry. Been there done that. Do it sooner rather than later. Also with the rear arch issues watch the inside of the wheel arch where over filled petrol runs out a rain hole inside the filler area - it washes the underseal of and you get rust there too.
  15. Bein a true Scotsman I read it on the shelf:) Not sure I like the 300Z classed as a chav car!
  16. Sean Connery was interviewed by Michael Parkinson, and bragged that despite his 72 years of age, he could still have s3x three times a night. Lulu, who was also a guest, looked intrigued. After the show, Lulu said, 'Sean, if Ah'm no bein too forward, Ah'd love tae have s3x wi an aulder man.' 'Let's go back tae mah place.' So they go back to her place and have great s3x. Afterwards, Sean says,'If you think that was good, let me shleep for half an hour, and we can have even better shex. But while I'm shleeping, hold my bawls in your left hand and my wullie in your right hand.' Lulu looks a bit perplexed, but says,'Okay.' He sleeps for half an hour, awakens, and they have even better s3x than before. Then Sean says, 'Lulu, that was wonderful. But if you let me shleep for an hour, we can have the besht shex yet. But again, you must hold my bawls in your left hand, and my wullie in your right hand.' Lulu is now used to the routine and complies. The results are mind blowing. Once it's all over, and the cigarettes are lit, Lulu asks 'Sean, tell me, dis mah haudin yer bawls in mah left hand and yer wullie in mah right stimulate ye while ye're sleepin?' Sean replies, 'No, but the lasht time I shlept with a Glashwegian, she shtole my wallet!'
  17. What about the XDA IIS? Colleague just got one on O2 as an upgrade and its wifi streams video from the office network when he sitting in the cludgie. It takes voice commands to choose MP3s to play asking which album? which track etc. Does GPS with a bluetooth antenna as well and all the office programmes. SD card for the MP3s. Ok its a bit like holding a brick to your ear to make a call but you can leave it in your pocket and do the borg thing with an earpeice. I want the next generation of this
  18. I'd want more evidence like to now see it chucking water out due to pressure in the water jacket or oil cream in the water at least. Did you "just" boil up and stop right away or keep driving like a dafty when it was over heating and waterless? Have you replaced the hoses and tried re filling it and running? If a head gasket has gone did they say which head?
  19. Its the rubber bellows thingy that supports and locates the centre bearing. It will have gone hard and perished leaving the bearing sagging onto the mounting. Result prop bent too much in the middle and the vibes transmitted trhu the floor. At this age the gear box mount can also be sagged.
  20. I was down in July. I always stay in North Cornwall near Padstow (Padstein?) If you like to surf there's places near Harlyn Bay that are fine. Harlyn is about 40 minutes from Eden and less than 30 minutes from Newquay and a couple of miles west of Padstow. It is a beautiful place. Check out Yellow Sands Martin Dakin. He has apartments to rent and does weekends. Safe parking too, 01841 520376. If you want I can tell you where to hire a board and wetsuit!! Martin might tell you where decent B&B is also. If I wasnt 550 miles away I'd have been back again by now!
  21. Also be sure you dont have a saggy mount on the transmission as this will make the angle wrong from tailshaft to prop. You can make a temporary repair by jacking the rear of the transmission gently and slipping rubber strips into the gap that appears in the rubber mount. This is on an auto - not sure about a manual.
  22. Mine too- You do have a big engine oil cooler then a smaller one in front of that but I now understand the little one is not for the auto box but for the power steering/hicas system. For the auto transmission on a 92> UK there are 2 feeds to each side header on the water radiator. If you want to change to a oil air cooler you disconnect the pipes to the splitter pipes under the water rad and plumb these to your new oil air cooler. Best place to fit would be somewhere in front of the other coolers on suitable brackets.
  23. Sounds like a duff shocker - check for wetness around it in case its lost its oil - in which case its stuffed.
  24. Be prepared for fine crazing of the paint after 6 months of rubbed in dust if you're leaving it outside. Straps help stop the flapping with the wind. You should invest in one of those trickle charge gizmos to keep the battery charged too else it will die. They dont cost much.
