Yet another colour thread! (Pics)
Hi Folks, So for the last year, I have been convinced that I was going for the much loved white for the colour change on a SWB slicktop, from gunmetal grey, with a black roof and engine bay. I had set my sights on Ford Frozen White. I have already done the engine bay and roof Toyota Satin Metallic, and I reckon it looks ok. The intent was to keep the car standard (ish) and put a dark tint on the rear and rear quarter glass to match the roof, and maybe subtle carbon wrap on the roof rails, and / or the window guides on the doors (between the front and rear side windows). BUT.... I reckon white is getting too common around these parts. Everybody is at it over here, especial the white / black combo, and particularly on run of the mill Beemers and Golfs. I fear it will make the Z look to ordinary / not special enough to stand out. Yes, it looks great, yes, it suits the Z. But I have fallen in love with another colour and I need opinions please! I am deffo not sure about doing white now, fancy the other colour, but I am open to suggestions for anything else. I dunno how to add a poll - If anyone wants to oblige, I would be grateful.

calling small business owners and software people
Are you looking purely for accounting / customer management software or something more workshop / maintenance based? Autodata Vivid I am sure you know both of these. What people forget is their ability to generate job cards, quotes, and invoices. Good for smaller outfits, as they combine tech reference with basic billing. For full on reminders and accounting, you will need something else, as that falls outside of their intended use. If you have a website, and would be willing to integrate Google Apps for Business (free up to 10 user accounts/email addresses) then there are plenty of cheap options available as add on services. At the same time it is a decent overhaul for your systems. Google Apps Maybe a combination of the 2? For me, it was more important to access tech data and be able to produce proper job cards and invoices. Reminders and other admin systems can be tinkered with to suit your needs, the data is a bit more specialist. There are hugely expensive Dealer Management Systems available that combine the 2 functions, but they are not really cost effective for the small independents out there.

+1 for the above suggestion. Works with this sites current version of vBulletin, and it is free. No real reason not to use it. Simple to implement too. http://www.tapatalk.com/plugin.php

Serious Medical Question
Bugger that - that's a place I wouldn't want to be. That's a difficult decision all right. Whats the long term effects? You mean side effects of the meds, or probs due to the issue itself?

(Pic Heavy) Mitsubishi Sigma - Any one had one of these?
Popular? - Yes Looked after? - Not a chance. Tight MF's the lot of em. Won't spent a cent unless the need to. Especially where I am, BMW being from round these parts. Its like a badge of honor or something. Buyers are very regional, very loyal to whatever comes from their State. I used to be shocked at the condition of some of the motors on the roads here (I am in the trade) but after living here so long, have decided that I much prefer going through TUV every 2 years instead of MOT annually. Nowhere near as strict or ripoff orientated.

Yes matey, that's the point - they are the Mondeo of Germany, used to aspire to a 5 before I left the UK. Now they are everywhere, but mostly nails, the Germans drive them to death, so plenty of chaff, and one in decent nick is usually bang out of order price wise. Mental money, compared to what we know off the Autotrader. :offtopic:No. Simple mistake. Mods, please move if convenient. I inadvertently left OCD mode off and accidentally posted in the wrong section. Off to do me Hail Mary's now........

Not too much of an concern fortunately... Not far off. Around 800 Euro with 2 years TUV... Yeah, but common as muck, and waaaaay more expensive for a tidy example round these parts.. Not too sure about better looking either...Depends on what you like.

who likes irn bru
Apparently outsells coke in Scotland. Was at a Brit shop a few weeks back, they wanted 1.70 Euro a can, plus 25 cent deposit. Bugger that! Awesome hangover cure.

As above really, got the chance of one, I reckon at a not bad price. 3.0, 24v, 205 PS, big luxo-barg for the motorway. Just fancy something different. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

[Advice] Trip to scotland
Stirling for historic monuments, Edinburgh for arty fart pish & Glasgow for its live music scene. Head up Loch Lomond side to Oban, Glen Coe, play about a bit with all the touristy stuff, Cruachan Dam, etc. Plenty of stuff to do, checkout the "visit scotland" website.

Saudi
Sorry for that one - I realized I made an ar5e of of too late :blushing: Hired help is freely available if that's an option you would consider. Standard varies as does cost. Agreed. Different for adults or older kids, but at that stage of their lives, if it were me, I would go for it only if it was a proper Brit community / compound.

A lot of good advice there from the lads, and I agree that it could be a very good opportunity for you and the family. You say it is a posting with your current company. Would you be able to talk them into a short working visit before you need to give them an answer? Maybe a month posting, and get your Mrs. out for the third week or so? Gives you enough time to suss out the work life. All the family care package is something that you really need to discuss / negotiate with your company. The other thing you need to consider is duration. If for example, it was a fixed duration like 3 years, would that mean you would be pulling the kids out of school at an important point like exam time or similar? Good luck with what ever you decide. I am in and out of Kuwait like nobodies business, and love it. I would happily settle there long term if I got a proper job.

Would you allow your son to do this....?
Not quite true matey, the burqa is normally a mesh veil, which goes over the face, and depending on fit, may allow a view of most of the face when you view from up close, but it can also be the half face "arabian nights" style which covers from below the eyes down, not covering the eyes. The version that looks like a ninja mask with a (normally) rectangular slit for the eyes is a niqab. The "dress" is called an abaya. None of the above items are religious requirements as previously stated, but based on tradition. It is reckoned that all the items actually predate Islam. I have previously lived in Kuwait for the best part of 2 years, and talked about this on more than one occasion.

Would you allow your son to do this....?
But thats the point folks are missing - He did, to the letter. I agree it's a wee bit cheeky...............

1/Ridiculous example there mate - like the example in the story, Jedi garb is most probably banned by omission, just like the shorts were, whereby skirts were specifically allowed. If you want, you could probably wear the Jedi skirt to work, but you are going to have to leave the lightsabre at home....... 2/Dunno why religion has anything to do with it. The Burqa is nothing to do with religion and not required by religion, although it is a form of traditional dress worn by peoples of a particular religion. Islam doesn't require it to be worn, no more than Christianity requires a cross to be worn. For your argument to be valid, we would need to know if the Burqa is being worn at that particular school, and what the dress code says in relation to that, although you appear to be the only one who sees an religious slant to this so far, when the story is clearly highlighting a non religious issue.

Would you allow your son to do this....?
It definitely can't be said he lacks discipline - he is following the school dress code to the letter, whilst making his point, and staying within the rules set by the school. Yeah, he is a whiner for complaining he can't wear shorts when their omission from the dress code means they are effectively barred. BUT as a student, he has the right to air his views, and his view is that he is uncomfortable in trousers. If he has the balls to go to school like that to make his point, fair play on the wee fella. He is destined to grow up into someone who is not scared to put his point across, and is willing to risk ridicule to do so as he stands up for his beliefs. The UK needs more kids like him, not a generation of weak willed losers that have no opinion and don't question anything. I think some of the posters are confused - remember, he is not breaking any rules, so whats the problem? I agree in the principle of a school uniform, as long as it is functional and affordable, and I agree dress standards should be set. Apparently, so does he, so good luck to him.

anyone see my lovely scheme on the news
Short for "Housing Scheme", from when the old communities were torn down and everyone moved out to the new residential areas back in the 50's and 60's, mostly into high rise flats, with sod all in the way of local services. Nearly all of these were corporation (council) houses for low income working class families. Has become common usage for any distinct residential area.

Nice one, bet your glad to be out of here......... Does that mean you have a pair of LHD headlights for sale? ;-)

What would you give for this?
This is going to be blasted to hell, but opinions are like bum holes......... I think that looks as good as a standard LWB - I think the bulked up back end balances the length out, especially in the set of 3 pics Gio posted (the one where it looks more green). And I reckon it looks much better than the ragtop. Without intending to offend anyone, I think they look hideous with the roof up (as most ragtops do). It's all about achieving a balance between form and function, and I reckon that is as spot on as it could be.
-
What would you give for this?
Very nice motor. Looks good with the roof both up and down, and thats rare in my humble opinion.

Dilema
The car is not at the painters yet, but is it stripped ready for painting? If it is, it could be done, as long as all the body work is done already, but why rush? No point rushing the rebuild and making an ar5e of something. Take your time, get it right, you'll be happier for it in the end.

I just love this zed
Not keen on the wheels. They are nice enough on their own, but they look lost in the arches - could do with something to make them stand out a bit more. Could do with a few MM drop too. Looks like a hovercraft in the 2nd pic, but that could be down to the wheels. Looks nice inside though, and real nice in that white.
