  1. That is what I'll be doing , hopefully next year. If I get the mortgage sorted on the house I will have a proper workshop to play around in. Defo love the SWB fat arse look. Only killer is my slick top is an NA, so dunno if it warrants it - maybe a bit overkill.
  2. OK - So I just tried mine, and when I unplug the earphones, it pauses. When I plug them back in, I need to press the play button to get it going again, but it never turns off - the light just flashes green. Looks like that theory is a dud. Unless it is faulty plugs, it looks like the battery option is the most likely.......
  3. Have you tried it with a different set of earplugs? May be a fault in them that is shutting the player down, kinda like a circuit breaker? Just asking out of curiosity, seems logical that there would be some sort of built in protection to cover damaged headphones.
  4. Hi, I assume that you mean for a motorcycle? I tried a couple of options, and ended up getting this http://www.eliteelectronics.co.uk/Scala_Teamset_Motorcycle_Bluetooth_intercom.html You will probably agree that the choice of helmet is a very personal thing for any rider, and it takes a while to get a lid that is just right. The problem with buying ready installed bluetooth is that most are installed on shit helmets. In my humble opinion, it would be best to buy the helmet that suits you then retro fit the above kit. You will see it branded as Midland/Scala/Other. It is all the same, just with different branding for some reason. They also appear to have an updated version just released with a few extra functions, but I will let you check that out. As for quality, check out the reviews. I have found that day to day/short journeys all is good. They work well, and sound decent. It may take a few attempts to get everything positioned correctly for the best results. Only downside is on a tour battery life wont hold up to streaming music all day, but if you are a wee bit cheeky, you can plug it into the charger when you stop for lunch. My favourite tactic is to put the helmets in front of the wall outlet so nobody spots the charger being plugged in. Apart from that they work as advertised. On the downside now there is no way of ignoring the missus when she is moaning on the back!
  5. If you are looking at Blackberry, take a look at the Bold. I have had a Curve, have a Bold now, and it was looking like I was going to get the Storm. It looks ok, but the lack of Wi-Fi and the reports of the OS hanging and being slow means I will be waiting for the second generation. The Bold is ace.
  6. Just done starter, viscous coupling, bled brakes. Radiator will be here this week, then it is off to TuV inspection, but I know it is going to fail. Just putting it through as a benchmark to see exactly where I stand. Need new tyres too.
  7. ABS is not intended to decrease stopping distance, it is to allow the driver to maintain steering control under heavy braking, in a situation where non-ABS equipped vehicles would lock up and skid out. It is recognised that ABS vs non-ABS on an otherwise like for like vehicle could result in an increase stopping distance. Like has been posted, it is down to the overall condition and functionality of any particular setup, and remember that braking is also affected by tyres, pressures, condition of the suspension etc etc, all of which were designed in the late 80's. The results are hardly surprising, as although it may be hard to admit, the Zed is old technology. In a world where design is moving so fast, and consumer perception of safety is king, even basic model vehicles are coming better equipped than mid range models of even a few years ago.
  8. Been a member for just over a year - Subscribed partly for the access, but mostly because it is only fair to give something back for all the advice that other members so freely give up. Also from a social point of view, it is great to have a little bit of British to help keep up to date on whats going on back there. I have only got just over 100 posts in a year, so I suppose that could be classed as dormant, but I try to post only when I have something useful to say. Its great not just for Zed knowledge, but also for the wealth of other experience other users can offer, and it appears for the most part that there is a loose support network to help others when things go tits up.
  9. Your list of things to take looks spot on. I live in Germany now, and always carry colour copies of my passport, car docs, license etc. If you get stoped for any reason, you can leave copies with the plod at the roadside. It has happened a couple of times that they ask you to come to the station to verify your details / copy papers etc, esp if you get busted for speeding or have a bump.
  10. Valet (as in parking) keys were for the car park attendants, like you get in the states. When it is a true valet key, it can open driver door (not boot or glove box), start vehicle (sometimes in limited mode / ie safety mode style). Also it cannot be used to reprogram new keys, or be used to have new master keys cut.
  11. Hi, I don't have any techie stuff that you need, so I have just paid your subs. Give it a bit of time for Andy P to sort it out and you should be good. Sorry to hear about your bad news, especially so close to Christmas. Best Wishes, Derek.
  12. OK - so I have seen that I was actually replying to your post. I understand that you may have failed to read my whole post, so therefore may have been confused as to what I was trying to achieve, but if you hadn't fired off 3 quick fire abusive posts, and asked a question, you would not have made yourself look like a muppet. Remember - Flaming = bad, Being polite = good, Abusing from the safety of a monitor = TROLL!!!
  13. I don't know what you are refering to, but if your 3 abusive comments are directed at me, I think you need to rethink your attitude. Obviously as a new user on this forum, you might have missed the whole "edit" thing. If you had took the time to read the whole post, you would see I have quoted another poster who refers to a West Highland Terrier. If you could read the part at the bottom, you would see that I edited due to my pictures not attaching properly. I was trying to attatch pictures of the Westy puppy that I recently bought my girl. If you were not refering to me, maybe you would like to explain to the members what three consecutive, pointless abusive posts are all about. Because if you had bothered to read our POR, then you would see that is considered impolite........... As a new user with single figure posts, may I suggest you wind your neck in sharpish, grow up and get a grip of yourself. With a stinking attitude like that I dare say you will be headed for a ban........
  14. Hi, Renewed from paypal - derek_g2001. Thanks, Derek.
  15. OK - I am an ar5e. I had a brain fart. The museum is next to Hockenheim, not Nurburg. It is about 200km past Nurburg coming from the UK. Still worth the run though, only just over an hour at autobahn speeds. Dohhh! SORRY!
  16. Yeah it is well nice. You could spend a whole weekend just at the museum if you were into that. The hotel is actually pretty well priced considering. Only thing is I am not sure how close to the actual town it is. The museum is on the autobahn, and I haven't been there since they finished the hotel. Will check it out if anyones interested, maybe take a blast up the road at the weekend.
  17. Especially as it is being suggested on an open forum, and after you said you would sleep on it. Could end up in a whole world of shi5t!
  18. Yeah, He's right for sure..... I live about 1 1/2 hours from the 'Ring, so will do my best to turn up. I don't know if anyone would be interested in this place; http://www.technik-museum.de/museum_sinsheim_english.html There is a hotel on site, and it is close to the track. Maybe a decent weekend for us petrolheads? Just a thought.....
  19. Its not that bad is it? Got the chance to go back to the UK for the weekend last week, and turned it down. Hope you have fun, and get used to the beer again real quick! Derek.
  20. Depends on what you job is - Do you need to haul stuff around? Or how about private use - will you be ferrying kids and sports equipment back and forth? Or am I just way too sad?.......
  21. Dark (ish) metalic grey/silver - going to change when £££ are available!
  22. I agree that perceived green business is the way forward, as is anything that helps cut fuel bills - selling LPG conversion kits, and/or doing the install for example, but that is something that may be done to death very quickly. Got to look at what people cannot do without, but offer at a better price. I think for the short term at least, most people will cut back on spending in general.
  23. Yup, I done it at the weekend, and 1 litre was enough. That included a master cylinder change, but I didn't to the clutch. I reckon it would be enough though.
  24. If you specifically want to change where your flashers are, check out a local motorcycle shop, or search on line for one. Most shops stock flat indicators designed to mount on fairings. Most are stick on, but you could use self tappers.
