Now you don`t very see that often !
I reckon its been ran dry - not sure whether through neglect or sudden coolant loss. That would hump the bearings and induce a wobble, possibly enough to strike the motor a couple of times before it seized and tore itself off. Witness marks on the motor suggest contact with the pulley, but there is a rust spot on the broken shaft, so it may have been cracked before.

photo editing
Photoshop is very good, but a legit free alternative is GIMP or Paint.Net. Unless you are very advanced, either will do the job for you. Photoshop is available from loads of places, but it is a resource hog, quite heavy on the system. For very simple photo touch up or minor editing, try picnik.com. It all depends on what you need - don't automatically jump for Photoshop because it is the big name. The first 2 I mentioned are arguably easier to use, and give decent results. Also being open source there is no licensing issues or down loading hacked software. (Not that I don't - Just had problems with a few downloads that were pants, which was what made me try the others:) Both are free so go ahead and try them.

Maxxis tyres?
Quite a big name in the motorcycle world, but mainly scooters, dirtbikes and commuter hacks. Distro centre is based in Germany, but tyres themselves are made in china and taiwan (what isn't these days?). Used to run them on a fleet of 40+ training bikes (Kawa ER5, Honda NTV 650) which is a tough life with ham fisted learners around town, and never had any issues, quality or otherwise. Decent mileage, and no more punctures or failures than any other brand we used. On the dirt (CCM 600s/650s) the knobblies were great. Probably wouldn't fit on a sports car that was driven hard, but would be happy to run on the sharan. Not had any experience of running them on a car, but I certainly had no issues with the bikes.

hay fever
Like I said, look like a tit, but at least in private. Nothing is worse than trying to deal with a punter while you drown in your own snot. At one point I had to give up riding the bike because I was so bad with the hay fever. Now I can stash that in my bag just incase, and it has never failed to work. Worth it for sure.

hay fever
Before anyone goes on a piss take..... I KNOW. You do look like a tit, BUT; Well worth a look. Use once in the morning, again when you get home, and before bed, and it does the trick. I pissed my pants when I got told about it. I went to a German doc for industrial strength pills 4 years ago, and been using this ever since. Haven't had to touch a pill or spray at all. And it helps when you have the sniffles too. http://www.anhealth.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?id=medi1 Although that looks a good bit more than what I paid. I think it was 50 euro back then. If you are interested I will try to remember to price them up at the weekend.

Pay-to-scrap scheme
Its been happening here for a few months. Huge amount of cash in the pot, and when it is gone, that's it. Rules are; car must be over 9 years old you must have owned it (registered to you) for 1 year car must be scrapped, owners docs presented = certificate issued (scrappie is allowed to keep certain items for resale) Take certificate to dealer = 2500 euro discount. The car you buy must be brand new OR No more than 1 year old, with only 1 previous owner (ex fleet ok) No restriction with regards to specific models etc - it's your choice In reality, dealers are fighting to take them off your hands. Most will do the running around for you. Best bit is, dealers can also offer their own incentives on top. Best at the moment is Peugeot. They are offering 1000 euro cash back too, so up to 3500 euro savings on your choice of car. I can trade in my sharan in may  Unfortunately I learned of this shortly after paying the 140 euro fee to scrap the old junker I had for running through the winter when it's too cold for the bike. Bloody thing only cost me 50 euro. :headvswal

How can this be allowed!!!????
The way servicemembers get treated in this the UK is ****ing disgusting. My dad was 4 RTR, and younger brother is 1 Para, and even the difference between the generation of Soldier in terms of public support etc is shocking. I have been running a maintenance facility in Germany for the US Army for nearly 6 six years, and regardless of the stereotypical "GI" image, I have been lucky enough to make a lot of good mates. My point is the difference in the way they are treated. At first the whole flag waving and yellow ribbon seemed OTT. And then I spent some time in the sandbox. Having lived and worked embeded in a unit for so long, I can vouch for the shit they put up with. And most US deployments were 15 months untill recently. Each and every person who steps up and does their bit deserves the support of those who benefit from their efforts. I have been to pre deployment parties, and seen the faces of not just the Joes', but that of their wives, kids, and partners as they board the bus, not knowing if that will be the last, and knowing that if they come back, their kids will be a year and a half older - time that they can never make up. Now I realise the flag waving and yellow ribbon is ok. Because every single person on that bus deserves it. I remember in the UK, the average person on the streets idea of a show of support was sticking a bull shit sticker in their window that the got free with the Sun newspaper. And the welcome home parties really are a welcome home to remember. I can only remember 1 time where there was a "demonstration" by a handful of locals. It lasted only a few minutes before the got the shit kicked out of them. Even if people on base do not support the war (a surprisingly large percentage) it is expected that you support the Soldier, because that is what they deserve. End of. Sorry for the lengthy rant, but I wanted to vent. Just another reminder of why I left the UK, and another thing to remind me that I made the right decision. I would be embarrased to show that article to anyone over here. As far as I am concerned the protestors deserved a beating from hell. I am all for free speach and right to protest etc etc, but **** off and do it somewhere else. To do it in front of a Soldier is just plain disrespectful. Rant mode off.Sorry.

Customised email address...advice needed!
If all you want is to have a custom email address, I can thoroughly recommend Google Apps for business. You go ahead and secure your domain, and then follow the instructions to point what you want at the various addresses etc. Good thing is you can have "info", "sales", or whatever else you want all coming to the same in box. Very simple to set up and use, and no one can tell its through Google. You can also use Google Docs, Calender, Picasa etc etc through the same account, so probably got everything you need for free.

How much...
Probably an hours labour. Can't think off the top of my head what it takes (ie how long) it would take to remove the plugs from the injectors (I'm sure someone will be a long who knows), but the actual soldering won't take more than an hour, and that is what most garages will charge as a minimum. Soldering is straight forward, as long as the wires are in decent condition. Why not try it yourself? If you are not sure, Google is your friend. You will be able to find a tutorial online.

Submarines Collide!
This explains it fairly well. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/02/16/subs_crash/ The whole point of the subs is not to be detected, hence why they didn't "see" each other. What is stunning is the fact that they were both operating in the same area without letting each other know. According to the article, the UK & US have an arrangement so as to avoid this type of thing. Doh!

Looks like its all over
Won't help much. Everywhere across Europe is the in the same condition, and what with the exchange rate on the £ as it is at the moment, it is less of an attractive proposition as it used to be (I have effectively taken a 40% pay cut over the last 3 years). Also to be honest with the recent round of Euro borders opening up, there are plenty of skilled workers who are willing to work for less. Sad but true.

Six Nations kicking off again.
I tend to agree. I just hope Scotland at least tries to make it look like a decent attempt, but being realistic about things, once again, it will be a case of just making up the numbers...... Good Luck to all!

Six Nations kicking off again.
As long as the team is from mainland UK I don't really care. Although the further North the better!

should gays adopt?????
Well said that man...... I have worked on the fringes of social care, and have 2 good friends that run a council care home. When you meet some poor little sods, it is exactly like was said above. A relief for the kid, regardless of sexuality of the carer. Does being a m/m or f/f couple make you any better or worse than a m/f couple? Probably not as individuals.........Bad parents, role models come in all shapes and sizes. To extend what other folks have said, ALL potential foster parents etc etc will/should be vetted on an case by case basis, regardless of sexual leaning. Unfortunately sometimes bad folks don't know they are being bad. I would like to think suitable f/m couples would be preferred- not because I have an issue with m/m or f/f couples, I have met some very decent same sex foster parents, but more to keep it simpler for the kids.

A new recomend me a mobile phone thread
Blackberry bold does a top notch job. iphone ok, but some feel is a little more consumer orientated. I suppose you would be better checking out who offers you the best roaming tarrifs? Also wi-fi is a must to avoid internet charges whist abroad.

No more European jolly's for the Zed....
Gotta agree - the exchange rate hurts. When I first came to Germany, I was paid in £'s, which meant thank you very much on the exchange rate, which was around 1.46E to the £. Now I am still on the same £ rate, but getting hit by the exchange. Still making a decent amount, but not putting much in the bank. The only consolation is that it is still fairly cheap to live.

Ipod Shuffle - Fault
Yeah - I haven't used mine in months, and after this thread started, thought I would load it up. Got the i-tunes update, and promptly spent the next hour trying to connect mine. I suck with technology.
