  1. \wooly's is great - i wouldn't touch shoe polish... the proper kits have chemicals to open up the grain of the leather to take the dye, rather than sitting on the surface. They're not too expensive either. Rich
  2. correct - but if fitted must function!
  3. no. the fact that the belt is (maybe) slapping the case means do not start, put on trailer, and take it to someone who knows what they're doing! Chances are when/ if the cambelt was changed, the tensioner was skimped on - definitley replace not fix. good luck!
  4. nice one - I nearly bought one the same colour.. but red proved too irresistable for me!! Finger's crossed for some decent weather/ empty roadds this weekend!! Rich
  5. it is possible - i think volkswagen have/ are developing one (to get the best performance out of a small engine). Someone did mention doing something similar on a zed - 2 main problems would be fitting it and mapping it... be a fun (but esxpensive) project!! Rich
  6. you sure? They shouldn't have flash boxes! On a serious note, it is possible to enforce zero tolerance on speed (North Wales did it for a while. Not sure of any challenges to it, as there's obviously an argument about speedos being built with a fairly large % error. As for different sized wheels making a difference - tough shit! You modify your car from standard, you take responsibility for having speedo recalibrated. God, this country sucks!
  7. here you go http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=26120
  8. throttle position sensor - nearside of engine bay... little black box. There's an engine by numbers somewhere...
  9. sounds like you're in safety boost - do a search, and run a diagnostic... (easy to do - with ignition on, engine off - pull back passenger carpet, unscrew floor panel, turn potentiometer clockwise for 2 seconds, turn back and dash will flash the error codes). do a search first though - you can then go in to mode 2 but I can't be arsed to type anymore ;) good luck rich
  10. I think spec is 800-1000. Rich
  11. you should be fine as you're "re mapped ECU" will have had the limit removed. Rich
  12. used to have a v3 - the worst phne i've ever had - battery life rubbish, menu shit, capacity rubbish etc etc. Got N70 now - bit big, but good phone! Stick with Nokia! Rich
  13. check the voltage on the TPS - can't remember what it should be off the top of my head though sorry. Rich

you need to subscribe to sell your car on the forum: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/subscriptions.php? Rich
  15. exactly - if you haven't got a licence, you haven't got insurance! Speak to your solicitor asap dude - i would imagine you could claim the costs of a hire car if there's any delay in getting your car back. And don't forget, get the piund to record EVERY SINGLE piece of damage - they should have recorded any damaged there in the first place, which they probably didn't. You want to bump up your claim as much as possible, so they can negotiate it down and make an offer to settle ;) (assuming you're telling the full story :x: ;))
  16. how deep are your pockets?!? Seriuosly, you need an idea of what level you require before anyone'll give idea on cost... you looking for a standard rebuild, slightly uprated or all out ndrag monster! Also, what's the damage/ reason for the rebuild?
  17. check it's seated properly, check that it's getting a good air supply (i.e. the splashgaurd's not blocking it). Make sure the AFM plug's on properly. Have you reset the ECU?? When you have reset the ECU, the car will idle a bit high and not run perfectly until the ECU has adjusted for the altered characteristics. hth Rich
  18. i'm 25 and got a classic policy from houghtons!
  19. know how you feel dude - i mashed my wheel up in a similar way after chasing a skyline... to say i was gutted was an understatement - the wheel was scraping the arch, and was crunching and cracking as you turned the steering wheel! The good news is that the zed seems to "bend in all the right places" - I fixed it up no problems with parts from a scrapper, and fortunately there was no other damage to the steering! Sure it'll be better than you're expecting!
  20. go to your doctor with a bad back, take some time off with it, get a letter from your doctor and tell them where to stick the Pug!
  21. i would guess you can pack the springs to get the release pressure in the right range before you make fine adjustments with the adjuster (if they have one) Rich
  22. had really bad goose honk before i took it off the road... now it;s got dump valves, so hopefully when i put it all back together the honk'll be gone!!
  23. I'm sure these are from Maplin or RS... definitley seen them in one catalogue!!
