  1. Hate to tell you buddy but your picture is of the ac condensor not the heater matrix, the matrix is extracted on the drivers side, and if you guys will please please listen every time a matrix job is mentioned YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE DASHBOARD, it slips out of the heater box on the drivers side where your left foot ( clutch or auto-box rest ) would be. It really is a 30 minute job to remove, honestly, used to do these in customers dinner hour whilst they waited, the Aus site shows in detail how to do it without removing the dash ! Jeff
  2. Nothing silly just knowing the system is the key. So as yours is a series 1 the heating and ac system is fully automatic using a series of cabin sensors to decide on where and how much air goes to the lower ducts, the middle vents and the dash vents. You can force windscreen defrost vents but other than that you have little control in auto mode, the later models did address this with a different ecu and control panel, many people fit them to earlier models to increase the control. Jeff Later control pod in picture below has a mode setting.
  3. Been some years ago now, £60 seems to be in my head, the coil packs are very robust electrically but can fail if mishandled. Splitfire coil packs look real nice but only ever fitted one set for a customer as a special order and we're over £300 and there was no difference that was perceivable. Jeff
  4. This is a great inexpensive tool that tests coil pack trigger signals from the ptu and coil pack firing strength, also with a bit of use you can use it to work out the spark plug condition, all with no dismantling, was never without mine in the workshop. 5. Great outcome for the OP, personally not fallen out with anyone think Si has an issue though ?? Jeff
  6. I think, that what is lost sometimes in forums and maybe groups of any kind is that it is not compulsory to like everyone, but loosing one`s temper and making or airing direct personal view against another member is kind of frowned upon and rightly so, Anyhow on an up note the OP has got some answer`s to his question and some options too which is great. Jeff
  7. Wow there, do not measure me by your own standards, the op surely must be now wondering what the heck he started, wind your neck in troll. Jeff
  8. The op is a new owner just started out with his learning of the z32, if you are given advise of any kind be it off the cuff or in detail you need to qualify it with supporting information or misunderstandings can occur. Jeff
  9. Seen the link before. Jeff
  10. Really ? this is like those fake news items on social media :bored: Jeff - - - Updated - - -
  11. Just wanted to clarify something for the OP, you mentioned above a generic chip will not make any more power but it will make the power reliable and efficient. When starting out on the hunt for more power, its best to get the full picture, suggesting to a new owner that turning the boost up with standard chip is ok without qualifying the boost and timing regime used is careless. We all know and acknowledge that increasing boost is the major contributor to perceivable extra power, a generic chip allow for full 14 psi by changes to fuel and ignition timing to keep the engine safe. Safe is the key here, and this is what the advise should be about, keeping the engine safe, yes you touched on RR mapping, but not for safety reasons but performance, the op does not want to be creating a high power monster and explaining the downsides is just as important. Jeff
  12. Ha ha, classic tuning method used by SE Nissan in the day, no chip changed, just turn the boost up using bleed jets (not boost jets ) and retard the ignition to prevent detonation, basically crap ! Check out the link for some info on chips and boost and what is actually achievable > https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?146033-Chips-with-everything!!&highlight=chips Jeff
  13. If your on a budget but still want reasonable quality brakes then Mtec ( ebay seller ) sell these fronts for £160 and also do the rears >> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300ZX-3-0-TT-Front-Rear-Drilled-Grooved-Brake-Discs/290479628736?fits=Car+Make%3ANissan%7CModel%3A300+ZX&hash=item43a1ef61c0:g:J6YAAOSw4GVYSsMt For normal road use they will be fine and using Mintex pads will give a good feel, of course this is assuming the calipers are in good order, be careful when bleeding to not allow the brake pedal to go fully to the floor, this can cause seal issue in the master cylinder. Jeff
  14. Not sure that is fully correct Richard, maybe a single sale or even an odd one here and there but soon enough HMRC will see you as a trader if your buying to sell at profit, they even raid car boot sales for traders who appear to be selling house hold items but are really regular traders, selling cars comes under the same umbrella and selling from home is not an easy way out. Low cost cars will stay under the radar, but start selling £50k + super classics and the money will be subject to money laundering anyway well anything over £10k is now, do a couple of those and your own bank will snitch on you... its the law, we had to when any customers paid us over £10k. Jeff
  15. Ah guess you not using the Portugal dialing code!! Sorry buddy, retired to sunny shores 3 years ago. Jeff
  16. H3 Bulb as fitted to UK spec zed is a single wired connection that is eathed through the base plate H3C bulbs as fitted to import zeds is a twin spade connection bulb with no fly wire and requires both the live and earth to be directly connected. The two bulbs share the same base plate and the dimension from the base plate forward. When fitting HID bulb, the base plate size and shape is what determines the fitting application and in the case H3 is correct, additional cable and connections are included to make this all work. Jeff
  17. All joking apart, the valve is cable operated and just like a brake cable in a bike the outer case needs holding in place so the inside cable operates correctly, seen the clip for this missing or wrongly fitted a few times after an inexperienced matrix swap, trouble is its hard to see without removing the heater ecu, the ecu bracket and the cover for the valve. I would of thought though it was tested as working after the swap?? Got some pics somewhere or can guide you through by email stage by stage is required. Jeff
  18. Ah whatever, was talking about the seventies when he started out with Noel Edmunds and the Multi coloured swap swap, same era as Tiswas. Jeff
  19. Most common problem with cold heater is simple air lock caused by the water level been too low, wait till the car is cool and take the rad cap off, and check the water level. Adding water with engine running and whilst the heater is set to hot is the best way to clear any air locks. If the matrix was changed or anywork done in that area it possible the water valve is incorrectly connected, or not if you get what I mean, or given the personal involved maybe its missing ???????????? Jeff
  20. Your too young Funky ! missed out on the new Saturday morning delights, swap shop and Tiswas, very sad news, his demise was not pleasant and way, way too young, be cool to remember him as the joker every one liked, not that picture you chose Si, personally I think is wholly inappropriate, he was in a very bad place when he made that disaster of a programme contracted to perform or loose his job, read an article years ago about it, suffered years of ridicule as a consequence from the very profession he loved. Jeff
  21. Yes it was a pain, but all done, even helped the new owners move in as they were up against it moving out of their house.. Jeff
  22. Mmm... BMW 5.0 litre V10 M5 and M6 both good for 200 MPH straight out of the dealership with limiter removed, plenty of youtube videos to proof with gps etc. yet Sierra Cosworths were making over 180 mph from a 2 litre Cortina engine....albeit with massive mods, remember in the day some Escort RS turbo`s making 160 mph from a 1.6 8 valve cvh engine ! just nuts at that time, all of the tuning companies competing to unlock the new turbo power given to us by Ford, Seven Valley Motorsport ...... Turbo Technics .......... Sue Collins Performance ....... Graham Goode Racing and some I cannot remember..... was great times to have a Ford turbo car Jeff
  23. Mmm... thanks. when we viewed it nearly three years ago the room size clinched the deal, well that and the pool etc. lol Jeff
