  1. Ok you are going way to complicated too soon, a mistake made by many new owner`s. Just take it from the guys here, you have a FLAT BATTERY, nothing technical, the battery is so low that it cannot cope with the starter motor current draw which in the case of the zed can be anywhere between 200 and 500 amps depending on ambient temperature, this draw is very high but for a short time but still the starter / battery cables are substantial and need to be. In the video you can hear the starter trying but not having enough power to stay on it, the ignition lights flashing on off is a sure sign as the current to the starter is sucking all the available battery juice and then drops out and then as you on the key it tries again and so on. The trouble with a really flat battery is when jumping from another car the dead battery sucks up a large portion of the current from the jumper car, add to this maybe undersized jump leads and bad connection on the clips when jumping and it will not start. One trick when jumping a car with a flat battery is to connect the earth lead to the car and not the battery on the car your jumping as well as using quality heavy duty leads of course Also connect the jumper car and leave it running for 10 minutes to try and give the dead battery a chance, I have a 600 amp mains jumper I used in the workshop and even that would occasionally need to be left connected on boost for several minutes with dead batteries, really do not under estimate how much electrical power is required to start an engine. You may be be best to remove the leads and charge it for a couple of days, the battery could have a dud cell and that will be why it went flat and why even a jump failed, however you could have a battery drain when the engine is off which needs looking at. Jeff
  2. Surprised if these are not available at any Nissan dealers as they fit many modern Nissan`s as well as the group of older cars on the label.
  3. QUOTE Gaz "The big question is will we ever know the truth or are we better not knowing. There is so much hidden from us by our leaders and world leaders and by the people who pull their strings" Very true Jeff
  4. Defo a flat battery. Jeff
  5. Black box at the rear is a bulb monitor, it brings a light out warning on the dash if a bulb fails, however it can also fail, as the side light circuits are separate, you will find a power in side with lights on, that should come out the other side, the one with a failed output can be shorted out to get the light to work again albeit without bulb warning or of course just change the box. The cable to the boot latch is to bring the boot light on. Jeff
  6. Great points ! Jeff
  7. Ok yes take your points, the star thing is neither here or there, but NOT having them in shot does make it a whole lot easier to fake ( if that is what they are doing ) as it removes reference points. just the simple act of questioning something even if it is proved to be true is all that is required to create a debate with others or even in your own mind. Personally I do not have the time or inclination to go on a world quest to " spread the word" as it were, but I will continue to question what I am told and then and only then if its provable I take it on board, simple really.... oh and you know the International space station is faked ...don`t you ?? Peace to all Jeff
  8. You are getting the point I can see > Ref: ( Christianity on the other hand and creationism is definitely a conspiracy ) do not believe everything you told and that is all I am saying, but technology has launched forward so fast in the past 60 years we barely have time to get used to it before it gets an upgrade again, and again.. I read a very interesting piece the other day, 8K tv`s due out this year what happened to HD AND 4k tv`s, the article goes on to say the next generation of tv`s will be more life like than reality itself... now that is awesome, but oh sorry we cannot make a camera than can take pictures of stars when close to another light source ...come on even my 8 year old nephew knows that is bs ! Jeff
  9. See guys, I too look up and wonder at what I see and what we have been educated to believe is fact, yes educated to believe, non of us know these or any other facts about religion, the meaning of life and all that crap are real or not, it is what we are told. I have no axe to grind about bringing truth to the lie about any of the hundreds of conspiracy theories that have always been around and always will be but what I have leaned to question what I am told, to be inquisitive in life or what is it all about, just get herded along with the rest of the sheep? So lets assume for one moment the tesla video is faked, for what ever reason but it is faked, now if they can and do fake such high profile imagine then image what else is, one lie becomes another and so on. I take what appears on the tv news these days as selling stories first, ratings and actual news items way down the list, it is actually quite funny to watch when you can take away the drama and see through the smoke and mirrors of it all. The testla video, yes the reasoning why there is no stars is about light saturation, come on guys that was the reason used on the moon landings when the camera`s were little more than box brownies ! its 2018 they saying they sent a car into space but the computer camera technology cannot see stars due saturation COME ON !! its oh so convenient to have these 60 year old answers at the ready, so hey we have not progressed at all since the 60`s then ? that is plain daft, mobile phone camera`s are something like one thousand time better than the 60`s moon landing version.... oh and zero gravity has NO effect on light and cannot be the cause of the clear photo shopping that has can be seen. Remembering this is all just a bit of fun and I am no tin foil headed theorist desperate to reveal the truth, we are all just observers of our world what ever it is, some just choose to look for ourselves rather than be told...oh and you must know rockets do not work in a complete vacuum ...right ?   Jeff
  10. No conspiracy theory here, the tesla video is plain faked nothing more, so much news today is and why? who the heck knows?? Jeff
  11. and enhance the brightness and reduce the contrast and hey look square edges and brush marks !!! lol
  12. The "official" Tesla in space "beemed" from space..... yes right, so take a still from the video ....
  13. Oh my goodness the video Testla have released is pure CGI, typically no stars in the background and motions more akin to a string puppet, jeez don`t tell me they really have you fooled ?? Jeff
  14. A £5 each !!! no way, Nissan rip off as per. Standard T15 fittment, given they are the same bulb that is fitted into 12 volt garden lights they are available in various wattage from 5 watt to 21 watt if you fancy a brighter upgrade in different colours as used as indicator and brake light bulbs on many French cars etc. Used the 18 watt one`s in the past and causes no issue within the light unit. Jeff Lower wattage here > https://www.amazon.co.uk/Voltage-Outdoor-Lighting-Wedge-Bulb/dp/B003C0DP5W Near standard 18 watt here > £1.15 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gluhlampe-12V-18W-T15-W2-1x9-5d-15x36mm-Gluhbirne-Lampe-Birne-12Volt-18Watt-neu/121925472981?hash=item1c635312d5:g:vckAAOSwu1VW6BKW 21 watt here > £1.99 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-21W-T15-WEDGE-BULB-W2-1x9-5d-CAR-REAR-PARKING-LIGHT-STOP-LAMP-HOME-GARDEN-/122707022423
  15. Ok do an advance search name JeffTT Search ecu You should get two pages of my tech threads of various topics, maybe interesting for newbies especially. Jeff
  16. Strange ? not sure why it is a forum link, that said as it was a personal search maybe it is not shareable ? Jeff
  17. Hi all whilst searching out an old tech thread of mine earlier to help an owner, I did a random word search that brought up three pages of tech stuff, now we all know they are there but thought this might be a fun link to read whilst dunking your chocolate biscuits...can be good reminder`s sometimes even for me !! lol https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/search.php?searchid=44068 Enjoy Jeff
  18. Just to clarify a couple of points for you even though you seem to have a handle on it now. The engine management light on the 300zx is very, very limited in what it tells you, remember this is an old 8 bit ecu chipset and OBD1 NON CANBUS diagnostic system ( thankfully ) the only circumstances that can bring the engine light on with the engine running is 1) a corrupt chip 2) bad solder connection to the chip carrier. ( often followed by the electric ac fan running ) The light should come on with ignition but engine not start, goes out as engine is started, anything else is one of the above issues, setting the timing to 15 deg with neutral switch not connected will give incorrect timing, as a very rough rule if the thumb, the cas unit should be central, that is if the belt is correctly fitted ( you will be suprised how many are not ) and it is not stretched. The 300zx has some very odd set up rules, with respect to where you have been it sounds like he is not completely up to speed on the zx engine and as you said Jim is the next person to get it looked at by. Jeff
  19. That is the same one mentioned the other day. Sold it prior to coming to Portugal to a couple in Solihull. Weird thing is it came back for a service and Mot the following year...kind a weird working on your old car. They still have it and it's on the road still in use. Should of brought it with me really. Jeff
  20. Wow that is some time ago and yes was a power disaster that day, engine was unhappy on the way down and boost was down, later turned out one of the inter-cooler cuffs had come off ! typical zed eh? Good memory Craig !! Jeff
  21. Welcome back Wayne, well you have there the proverbial question.. how long is a piece of string ? You four year absence has not been kind on the zed scene, some rather questionable high`s value wise ( some dealers trying to punt out £8k cars as £15k or £20K total madness and those cars never sold for that or anywhere near, rather than increase the values this just losses even more credibility for the buying public... So get sat comfortably and take a lesson in reality, some of these cars are now a year or so off been 30 YEARS OLD, yep hard to grasp that even I find it mad. So unless you buy a minter, that has been a garage queen or lavished with £££sss you will be buying a wreck of a project or a nice looking......project ! Think maintenance, unless you have solid photographic and invoiced proof of the following you will need to factor them in to be done. Cambelt Water pump Tension rod bushes Steering arms ( front ) Hicas arms ( TT ) Shock absorbers Front upper links Brake discs F+R Caliper rebuild Brake pipes throughout the car, especially over the rear subframe Hicas pip corrosion (TT) Fuel pipe corrosion over the sub frame and down the length of the car. Of course mechanically any car is subject to failures but the above are the most typical ones on the zx and I was seeing these on a daily basis 15 years ago, so even if been done then it is very likely they need doing again. It can be heartbreaking for owners I know, who think they have done everything right in keeping it all clean top side and oil services etc. to find their pride and joy is less of a car beneath the skin as it were, buying a shiny well sorted car does not exclude these cars and catching a cold is so, so easy with an enthusiastic seller who really does not know any better, cars driven once or twice a year can be among the worse ones to buy for this very reason. So look hard, be hard and get a detailed inspection or a jack a torch and some overalls, check for corrosion to front and rear outer sills, inners sills, rear wheel arches and seat belt attachment points and of course the favourite, the radiator support member. So its all about doing the best you can to get the best you can, its not about the cost either, buy a project for £800 on Ebay patting yourself on the back at your buying prowess only to find all of the above and more is required... then start a project thread about how your going to bring it back to factory spec and be the best z in the UK.... and see you in a year or so time having spent £££ss and not driven it since..... move on a year or some and the next post will be For sale unfinished project, £££sss spent, upcoming classic prices on the up...... blah blah blah. Sorry to sound so negative but please take it as advise, I love the 300zx and what it represents for many owners and admirers alike but caution is key now, but get a good one and your life will be enriched for sure. The typical price does not exist and honestly never has, they are all over the place and have been for the past 20 years ! e-bay has them ranging from £15k ( stupid dealer !!!) to £500 for an aforementioned project, take the dealer pie in the sky one out and the project and the range is a much more sensible £2k to £7k, Not your first choice but a dealer sale here for under £5k, looks a touch tatty but certainly not a project and later model too > https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-Nissan-300-ZX-3-0-V6-TARGA-Manual-FACE-LIFT-JDM-2dr/282710105746?hash=item41d2d5de92:g:34oAAOSwKQ9Z8xjh The one thing about sales on these cars is the poor presentation by many sellers, taking interior shots at weird angles to look arty only to see the inside has not seen a vacuum in months or longer, all signs that point towards the mindset of the seller. Enjoy the ride looking and be careful, once you have your new zed, get it booked into Jim at Powerzed for checks on >> Cambelt Water pump Tension rod bushes Steering arms ( front ) Hicas arms ( TT ) Shock absorbers Front upper links Brake discs F+R Caliper rebuild Brake pipes throughout the car, especially over the rear subframe Hicas pip corrosion (TT) Fuel pipe corrosion over the sub frame and down the length of the car... etc, etc.. Jeff
  22. Graham, disconnect the heater hoses and back flush through with a hose pipe, never seen a 300zx matrix blocked to be honest even when the water is like brown silt, more likely an air lock or heater valve issue. Jeff
  23. Unfortunately neither of these will give you ABS testing functions for this issue. Jeff
  24. The abs system has a built in self diagnostic system, I covered this in a previous thread, (see link below ) you can easily try that yourself by following the test procedure, if not then a dedicated ( Very Rare ) Nissan ABS tester will find it as I had and shown in the pictures. Dependant on if the light is on from the start or only after moving off will direct you to where the problem lies, of course always worth checking the fuse under the bonnet by the master cylinder. Jim at PowerZed can certainly help you with this if not.
