Floor mats
I had mine made up by Autostyle. I got the Diplomat quality, in black with red binding a metal heelplate on the drivers side and "300zx" embroidered on them. Cost about £75-ish if I remember. Good quality too and only took a week to arrive. Richard

sweet spot
Hi Jim Mine behaves a little like this too (UK TT auto). When overtaking from low speed (20-40mph) or pulling from lights quickly, about 3/4 to the floor gives best acceleration. Once 50mph is reached and the car is still flying, if I stuff the pedal into the carpet it REALLY moves.... ........bye bye anything behind:D that last bit of acceleration still comes as a (pleasant)surprise:cool: Yet another reason I love these cars:dance: Richard:)

Loophole in insuring a car with NOS???
Whilst it may be true that some insurers might accept your claim that the NOS is for track days only when calculating your premium, I bet they use it to wriggle out of paying if you ever hit anything. I think if you have NOS declare it properly and pay up. You don't want to have your ar5e sued off (shagged of, if you end up in prison) should you be uninsured following an accident. Richard;)

WooHoo, back on line

Xenon Lights
Hi all Doesn't Jeff at Zedworld do a conversion for half that price? Richard

No wonder Z's are heavy!
Fair point, Chris. But the stock part must be pants if it lasts only 60K miles. I never needed to replace the waterpump on either of my Supras and the first one covered 165K on original engine/turbo etc. Richard

DT Motorsport/Azev wheels
Hi all A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread about a burst tyre leading to a damaged alloy. Well Dave at DT motorsport got me a nice shiny new Azev A especially made for the Zed and I had it fitted today.:) If anyone wants Azev wheels, you couldn't ring a better company tha DT motorsport in Rainham, essex. Dave knows his stuff and they are the UK importer for Azev wheels, so their prices are most probably lower then anywhere else. Top company. My local garage even sold me a Goodyear GDS3 at cost+vat:D :D Richard;)

arte front fog lights a waste of time?
Hi all For better visibility in the fog, fit all weather bulbs into your front fogs, with the slightly yellowish tint (Halfords or Osram). They don't reflect the fog back at you like headlights do. Always worked in my Poopra:) Sadly I don't have fogs in the Uk Zed:( May just fit j-spec ones though..... ......anyone selling some;) Richard

Oil pressure problems
Hi all I just had my sender unit replaced. It's quite a big switch-type thing but dead easy to do. There's a detailed procedure from one of the links pages. ......"one of the easiest DIY jobs on a Zed......." Bloody expensive though, at £80+vat from Nissan. Still, mine was paid for by warranty co:D Symptoms were low/zero pressure at hot idle (sometimes) even though it showed normal 30-60psi whilst driving. Now cured by new switch. Bl00dy hell, B19rks if the one your work sells is the same it shows how much Nippon are ripping us off:eek: Richard;)

No wonder Z's are heavy!
Hi B19rks, As you work in the trade, please tell me, are Blueprint products any good compared to Nissan OE items. I just had one of their waterpumps fitted, is was about half the price of the Nissan one.... Thanks Richard:)

Oil
I currently use Shell Helix Ultra fully synth. BTW, it is 5W40, not 10W40 as mentioned earlier. 5W much better for winter as it's not as thick when cold, so better for seals etc. Richard;)

Coolant loss
I had a water leak last month, turned out to be those stubby feckers on the front of the engine. Tell tale signs were coolant stains splashed over the top half of cam-belt cover. Also had the water pump changed while at it, as I didn't have it done with the cam-belt. Richard:)

Induction kits
I fitted the Cotton green kit, got it for £90 mail order. Apexi is indeed supposed to be the best, I think Chris at GetGreddy (traders forum) sells them, not much over £100 so a good but to boot;) The Z-centre one will have vat on top, so price over £160. HTH Richard:)

steering wheel upgrade
Hi To update my previous post, I've been to the other side (Z club forum;) ) and Mike Feeny at MJP sells the correct boss. HTH Richard:)

Silver Zed in Chalfont St Giles?
Hi all Just seen a silver imported Zed with BBS wheels (G reg, I think) parked up in Chalfont St Giles. Saw the same car about a month ago outside florist in Chalfont St Peter. Anyone here? Richard:)
-
steering wheel upgrade
Hi all I believe you can purchase a wheel boss with the HICAS sensors, which will enable the fitting of an aftermarket wheel such as a MOMO and enble the HICAS to work properly. I don't know who makes them, but they cost a bit compared to a regular wheel boss. Richard:)

Merc interior anyone?
Nigel is definately right with his conclusion:rofl: Who else but a gaylord bumm3r would have a flower decoration in his car. :xxx: Yes I know the new beetle has a vase on the dash..... .......nuff said:dance:

Should we allow posts on RELIGION???
I don't think any subject should be taboo unless it is SPECIFICALLY posted to cause offence to any person or persons. Sure, there are some topics that may unwittingly cause offence but that's for the moderators to edit as they see fit. I find the general discussion forum witty and sometimes informative:rolleyes: (LOL), it's good for a chat, a laugh and a break from the usual car-speak. It shows we all have varying personalities and a life beyond our Zeds;) Can I sense another poll developing..............;) Richard:)

How do I find out if its an import?
Yup:D Agree with WillieO's post and the next 2. Zed is a truly great car and whether import/UK manual/auto it doesn't matter. I just picked the best one I looked at, which happened to be a UK auto. I would have bought an import or manual if it had been the best available at the time I was buying one. Wouldn't mind a second Zed, now. say an import manual SWB (tt of course) in a nice metallic blue/purple......... Richard:dance:

NTL Blows Goats
NTL are a bunch of useless a***holes. The to55ers kept bombarding me with leaflets about how great their service was so I bit the bullet and rang them with a view to subscribing. Everything was booked for the installation but when the guys arrived it turned out that my road was not in their supply area. The morons still send me junk mail to this day and guess what, I'm still not in their supply area:rofl: Richard;)

How do I find out if its an import?
Hi Jason The V5 logbook is also a useful source of info, UK cars say something like "declared new at first registration" whereas imports say "imported vehicle, previously used abroard" I see you have the Supra turbo at present. I went from one of those to a Zed and I'm not disappointed. The old Supra is still a great car and a future classic (as the Zed will be, no doubt). What's your's like? I had the Jap spec Aero-top with digital dash, in black. It was just like KITT from knightrider:D I had it over 4 years and before that I had a UK spec turbo for a couple of years. I missed "KITT" for a while, but I'm happy with my Zed now:dance: Richard

Dump or keep?
Hi Barry Initially I would go along with Matty's theory, but Paul has a valid point. Have someone who knows their stuff inspect the car to ascertain exactly what you are letting yourself in for, should you keep it. If you do decide to keep it have the work done by a mechanic who: a) knows about Zeds b) is of YOUR OWN CHIOCE, not the dealers. The dealer would most likely get any old grease monkey to bodge it up just to get rid of you and who knows what he could f**k up in the process. Good luck Richard
