  1. Hi Alistair Any speed rating from W upward will be fine. W & Y were sub-divisions of the Z rating introduced a couple of years ago. Z rated meant up to 200mph, the W & Y were made in the interest of costs - how many cars can actually hit 200mph!? You must have the same letter rating on the same axle, though. HTH Richard:)
  2. Yup It is the catalyst warning light - I take it he has an imported Zed. My imported Supra had the same light, but my UK Zed doesn't Richard
  3. Hi Vijay You've mentioned the obvious difference:D I Think the UK spec ones are slightly stiffer. Perhaps he should try the USA spec ones. They are stiffer than J-spec and with the dollar being weak at present they would be a good buy. Try: http://www.ultimatez.com Richard:)
  4. Hi Gio If I remember, the operator of the allignment machine was called Lee. I'll call them this week and speak to him, as he should know. If they have done your Zed OK then I'll give them a try. Richard:)
  5. Hi Gio That's the place - just past Safeway on the Farnham Road. I originally went to Pro Tyre, on Slough Trading estate. I always used them when I had my Supra. But as soon as I mentioned 4 wheel steer to the chap on reception he imediately said "No, can't do that - go down the road to Nissan:confused: ) Perhaps I'll ring them and speak to the actual operator of the allignment equipment. Richard
  6. Hi Jay Split rims are expensive in the first place, so if they are in good condition and more importantly, you like them, then that would seem a fair price. But, as Scoops says, it depends on what make they are and how much a new set would cost you. Also what make are the tyres? If they are budget cr@p then who cares how much tread is left, you've got to replace them. Cheapo tyres + Zed = car in ditch/tree etc!!;) Chech the condition of the rims carefully for hairline cracks etc. before you buy. HTH Richard:)
  7. Hi Ben There is a bulb in the HICAS light, it comes on as usual when the ignition is switched on then goes out when I start the engine. Thanks for the tip Stuart. Unfortunatley Thames Tyres in Slough, who did the job in the first place, were the only ones who would touch the car near me. All other so-called 4-wheel allignment places backed away as soon as I mentioned "4-wheel steer":( These guys were recommended by Dan Perkins Nissan, as not even they had the necessary equipment. Richard
  8. Sounds good, how much are they asking. The SWB TT usually fetches a premium price owing to them being rare. At a guess I'd say around 11-12K??
  9. Hi all If anyone wants to upgrade their headlight bulbs, try this site: http://www.autostylin.co.uk They have H3 Osram + 30% and Phillips +30% at about £14 a pair. That is slightly dearer than Demon Tweeks, but post is free in the UK so they work out cheaper overall. The Osrams are very good, I compared them to PIAAs in my Zed and ended up leaving them in. Very good value IMO, as PIAAs are about £38 a pair. The Phillips jobbies scored best in the +30% category Auto Express tests. They do Osram & Phillips + 50% H1 for main beam at £19.50 a pair too. Richard:)

Wow...... Where do you think I could find............ A bazooka to do what should be done to that car, and, the freak that fecked it up so much:eek: Richard
  11. Hi all I recently had a 4-wheel allignment adjustment done (following replacement of front ball joint) and the steering wheel is now not quite straight - it's about 1cm down to the right. I went back to the allignment guy 3 times and that was the best he could get it. He specialises in the more unusual cars, Zeds GTOs Porkers and those lowered to fook, so he doesn't seem a fool. He reckons all the settings are spot on now, including the front track, suggesting someone before simply unbolted and replaced the steering wheel. I've now noticed the steering gets much stiffer after a long m'way run (especially in a 125mph r'hand curve yesterday - scared the fook out of me at first:eek: ). The HICAS light has not come on and the fluid level is fine. I saw Andy Duff mention in another post that the steering wheel MUST be straight otherwise the HICAS gets confused. So can I simply remove & replace the steering wheel or should I try another allignment specialist? Richard
  12. This may seem weird, but what stereo do you have? I have a JVC cd system and I get this sort of noise on occasion. It worried the 5hit out of me but after a couple of days I noticed it only did it with the stereo on:confused: I figured, with a little help from some of the guys here;) , that it must be a bad earth. Still not fixed it yet.................... Richard;)
  13. Hi Andy You saw that too...... They tried at 150 and it still flashed so they went past at 170 and it didn't:D You therefore could be right about the 156mph, but I wouldn't try it (unless I borrowed your car;)) Richard:D
  14. Yep. Good point, Stuart. That would make sense;) Richard:)
  15. Just a thought, but what has happened to Kent Terry of Jap City? Wasn't he a trader here once? Only asking, coz after Craig David was picking our brains about that 1999 N/A for £11k I was going to suggest he contact Jap City to see what kind of TT he would get? I met Kent when I was looking for a Zed around March last year. He seemed a decent guy and had some top cars, real good quality ones. Unfortunatley he only had one Zed back then and i didn't like the pearl white when I saw it in the flesh (sorry Kent). I'm surprised he has disappeared:confused: Richard:)
  16. Wow, that is spooky. Someone out there is stealing my thoughts. Only 2 days ago I was thinking about swapping to a SWB zed, fitting a tailgate tub and Lotus Esprit spoiler;) Actually I like it. I don't usually like OTT body kits and the Supra-style spoilers, but this one is much more subtle and would look good as the only body-work mod. The bigger ones need more bits of body-kit to set them off. Richard:)
  17. Bloody hell, not the Craig David:D ;) Surely you could afford a Lambo or something:rolleyes: Sorry, couldn't resist;) If it helps, I have been to this dealers (only 20 mins from me) and they seem pretty good. They are well established and have good workshop facilities should something go wrong (although that's no good to you in Peterborough). I saw a couple of Zeds there before I bought mine (although not one from AutoBMC in the end). The owner, Ken Nobbs, usually imports nice stuff and knows a bit about the Zed's usual faults. I would offer to meet you if you come down but unfortunately I had a slight falling-out with Mr Nobbs over a deposit on a car I did not agree to buy. (So he may not take kindly to me turning up at his place again!) I did win in the end, but don't let my experience put you off. Just don't be too keen as he can be a bit pushy. Still, if the car's not what you want, I guess you'll be "Walking Away........" Whoops, sorry again:D Good luck Richard:)

Hi Geoff The GT version of the 350 is just a trim level. It has "rays" alloys, cruise control, heated seats and different leather. The GT pack takes the total cost to £27k, not £30k - I've equired at Dan Perkins Nissan, Slough. So with the extra weight it will be slower than a standard 350Z, so we'll be able to stuff it:D ;) Richard:)
  19. Hi all I recently went to Dan Perkins Nissan in Slough to have the settings & base idle reset after replacing the TPS. They have a 300Zx specialist there and he knows his stuff. He saw my 300zx.co.uk sticker in the window and mentioned a few more of us go there too, one Mr L***e being mentioned by name! (Hi Gio;) ) I would deffo use them for specialist bits or advice in future. They even got some refugees to clean my Zed inside and out FOC afterwards:D Richard
  20. All Beemer drivers can stick their cars up their @rses:dance: I love it when they realise that their w@nkermobiles aren't as quick as they thought:dance: Richard;)
  21. Hi all As I drove out of Lynton/Lynmouth on the A39 heading east on Sunday (4th Jan) I saw a gunmetal grey imported Zed with a red 'Z' badge on the front going the other way. Was it you? Richard
  22. I know... some w@ankers just don't like fast car drivers. I was driving along the A413 dual carriageway in my corsa a few weeks ago when I saw a car on the sliproad about to join. Like a gent, I moved into the outside lane to let him on and the b45tard moved right into the outside lane in front of me. I flashed my headlights and he moved back into the left lane and waved in appology. The very next day when driving the Zed, same b45tard joins carriageway at the same spot, again I moved into the outside lane to let him on and again he moves right into the outside lane in front of me. I flashed my headlights, but this time he shows the finger. When he eventually moved over he gave me the w'nker sign as I passed him (laughing) Bl00dy BMW 3 series drivers:rolleyes: Richard
  23. Yup, I agree with the spoiler thing. Mine is soooo much heavier since the rain set in. Fibre-glass jobbie from Z centre is the next project, I think Richard:)
  24. Hi Neil I had a Mk3 Supra before the Zed and that was a wide car by normal standards. The zed is way wider than that, with mirrors you are looking at nearly 78 inches wide at least. My zed still fits in my garage, just. There was much more room either side when the Supra was parked in there. I think the Zed is a pretty even width all along the car, though the rear wheels do stick out owing to the wide track (and mine are 9.5 inches wide). HTH Richard:)
