new pics
Yup, welcome aboard :hyper: Your Zed looks good, I like those wheels too. They give it an updated look  And red is the best colour. I've had a few ladies comment on the car - one thought it was a Ferrari  ......And all because the ladies love a red Zed ;) Richard :smw:

How does my heater / air con work?
Hi Craig, Didn't you get the manual, mate? Auto = everything including a/c on. Electronics regulate temp to your setting and direction of airflow. Econ = eveything EXCEPT a/c on, otherwise same as above (cheaper to run in winter without the a/c) REC = recirculated air inside car. Doesn't draw in fresh air and only works with a/c on (auto position) OFF = pretty obvious ;) everything switched off..... HTH Richard :smw:

Which is fastest?
According to Autocar test, the 1/4 mile times were Supra TT 13.7 GTO 14.5 RX7 14.6 300zx timed at 14.4 What-Car Oct 2003 pitted SupraTT, GTO & 300zx, 0-100 times were SupraTT 12.3 300ZX 14.4 GTO 16.1 (tall gearing means slooooow 80-100) All tests were UK cars, all seem close-ish so on the road, sorry officer, track it's really down to the driver's ability (after all, I've stuffed BMW 320 coupes in my stock 1.4 16v corsa sport :p ) HTH Richard

A political debate - I know how you like them ;o)
Hi Shunter I've stopped reading the paper in the morning now coz it pi55es me off, not the best way to start the day. But the last i heard, wasn't that hooked-handed fekker supposed to have been deported? Don't tell me, Cherie "My husband's a gaylord bummer c*nt" Blair is defending his "human right" to stay here and ponce off of us forever :x: Richard

What alternative to a Zed?
Of your listed choices, I'd have to pick the MR2 turbo, if you can get one for £3000. It may be just on the manly side of a hairdressers car but it's fast (about as quick as a Zed to 60, though wouldn't touch it to 100) and good mid-engined handling. Otherwise I'd go with the flow and say an S13. A better choice than the S13 is the Supra Mk3 single tubby. You could pick up a good one for £3000 and you'd get leather, a/c and most of the other luxuries found in a Zed. Apart from the weak head gasket, they are dead reliable too. I ran 2 over the 8 years before my Zed and never had any problems what so ever. (the head just needs to be torqued down an extra few lb/ft to avoid gasket failure). They are fast too, 60 in 6.1 100 in under 16 and midrange grunt that makes the GTO look like a Fiat Panda :p Richard :)

12 year old Z mag
Hi James I remember reading the lax power issue several years ago. That yellow beast was a SWB n/a model IIRC. Wasn't there a bit in the story where the writer told a fuel pump attendant that the car "was the new Lambo, a Cala.......(or something)?" One of the best cars ever to appear in the mag, though :D Richard :smw:

New main beam bulbs
Hi all Just thought I'd tell you about my main beam upgrade. I fitted a pair of Osram Silverstar H1s and they are fekking excellent  Drove down my road (no streetlamps) tonight, flicked them on and...... .........they shone like daylight before my eyes. They were £19.50 from: http://www.autostylin.co.uk They don't charge for delivery and they also have Phillips +30% H3s for £14.50 (They were best +30% in auto express tests) Richard :D

A political debate - I know how you like them ;o)
you are not wrong there, mate  Richard Littlejohn is speaking for most normal people in this country, yet politcal correctness has a strangle hold on everything now :( Time to emigrate, I think. But can you move to Mars yet?? Richard ;)

Decided to name my Z......................
Yeah.... I just call mine Zed :p I named it after the @rse bandit cop in Pulp Fiction........ Not because of that particular character, but the scene where Bruce Willis rides off on the motor-bike with his girlfriend and says "Zed's dead baby" My Zed is red, so of course ".......Zed's red, baby....." :p ;) Richard :)

i wouldnt mind a go in this
I drove a standard one of these about 8-9 years ago. My local Toyota garage lent me one as a courtesty car while my CarinaE GTi was being serviced (I was seeing the girl on reception at the time;) ) I took it to visit a client in Norfolk. Whilst tw@ting it across the Fenland roads, I actually got it off the ground taking a hill at 140mph.......... ......So yessss, I would like to try a 600bhp version  Richard

Your favourite jap car, other than the 300ZX?
I think I would have to say the Mk III Supra Turbo. Old skool looks, good performance from what is now a dinosaur and loads of character I had 2 before my Zed and was more than pleased with them. I took ages to find something as a suitable replacement..... GTO- too fat & heavy, bad turbo lag and very bad overtaking ability. Otherwise good looks and excellent 4wd grip RX7- nice, but prefer the "GT" cars for comfort and speed Scooby/Evo- Nooooo. great fun, but too much of a hooligan's car. I could not drive either one sensibly, even if I wanted to. Don't like saloon cars either. Mk4 Surpa TT- great car, but fekking ugly front end. Fast but too sterile Skyline GTR- still pricey and nothing special to look at. Fantastic machine, though. That just leaves........... .......The 300ZXtt. Nuff said  Richard :D

Looking for wheels!
Hi Matt I second James' advice re DT Motorsport (call John or Dave) They are the sole importers of Azevs to the UK so the price they give you is what all other traders pay before adding their own mark-up. Therefore you get a good deal. The guys know their stuff and are very helpful. Also you get the wheels direct from the factory in Germany, specially drilled and machined to fit your Zed. With new wheelnuts and free locks. I bought Azev As in 8x17 & 9.5x17 with 235/45/17 & 255/40/17 Goodyear F1s for £1000 all in, including delivery :) Richard :smw:

Class, but for Men Only.....................
Pure :duffer: About time someone stood up for us fellas !! Reminds me of this man I know who had a sex change. When I asked him (now her) if the operation to make him female was difficult and painful he (now she) replied "..........not really, everything was fine until the doctors enlarged my mouth and removed 3/4s of my brain.......!!" :D Richard :smw:

Okay, Who Else Has A 'New' Site View??
Hi all I was checking my e.mails at the same time as logging onto the new site, so when I saw it under outlook express, I though I'd logged onto the wrong site!! Smart logo and the whole thing is more up to date IMO  Like all new things, it will take a little getting used to but after a week or so it will all seem normal. Good work chaps  Richard :smw:

Merc CLK
Why do drivers of German cars think they are fast?? I got cut up by a w@nker in a CLK320 the other day whilst in the Corsa, so imagine my glee when I saw the same w@nker tailgating me yesterday whilst in the Zed. I stuck to 30 through Hillingdon - schools, crossings etc. but he was itching to pass. He stopped behind me at a red light, then changed his mind and pulled next to me in the l/h lane, hoping to take me at the lights:rolleyes: He didn't:D Not by a long way:D He followed me onto the A40 west and tried to cut in front on the slip road. I accelerated gently enough to let him think he had a chance, but not to let him pass. When I saw the A40 was empty, I floored it. Bye bye CLK:rofl:  Sometimes it's just toooo easy:dance:

Crystal-type indicators.....
Hi Mac Just checked out your's in the rides section. The crystal lenses do look good, especially on a red Zed:D BTW, were some of your pics taken at Fountains Abbey? Richard;)

Engine coolant temp sensor on Courtesyparts site..
I also fitted the sensor & harness from Courtesy. No probe with mine either:) Richard

Oil Change Question
Hi Paul I use Shell Helix Ultra, fully synthetic at present. (5w40) Pretty happy with that, and pressure remained good throughout hot summer no matter how hard I drove the car. The 5w30 you mentioned is IMO too thin for a Zed, considering the high temperatures present in the engine bay all year round. The 5w part is better for winter, though as too thick oil in cold conditions is bad for oil seals. Richard:)

Crystal-type indicators.....
Hi all What is everyone's opinion of the crystal-type indicators/side lights as sold by Z-Centre? I want to replace UK indicators with front fogs, so I was wondering which indicators to get. Either the crystal jobbies (£75+vat from Luke) or USA clear stock style ones ($95 from UltimateZ). Anyone got the crystal ones? If so do you have a pic of them on the car? Thanks Richard:)

how fast is an audi tt?
Hairdressers AND estate agents, Jez !!!:D And the suckers will no doubt fall for it:rofl:

skyline rear lights
No, but I have seen round-style lights that are similar. go to http://www.procarparts.com/store-list.asp?categoryID=4&subcategoryID=21&maker=NISSAN&model=300ZX&year=1991 They aren't to everyone's taste, but you may like them;) HTH Richard:)

Heavy Duty Glass polish
Hi all After washing my car, I clean the windscreen with meths to remove all traces of wax and grime. Then give it a coat of RainEx. It makes the wipers wipe smoothly and quietly and repels rain and dirt pretty well. As for preventing squeeky wipers, buy Bosch ones, not Halfords own brand:D (they last longer too). Richard:)

how fast is an audi tt?
Not as quick as their owners think:D 0-60 in about 6.8 (225bhp) but much slower to 100mph Audi have just brought out a 3.2 N/A version with the Golf R32 engine. It's got more power but it's heavier and nowhere near up to 350Z performance. And we know how a 300ZX compares to that:D  Richard:rofl:
