Turbo or not?
Great minds mate... ;-)

Turbo or not?
That is sad to hear Nessie - it looked an otherwise tidy car, apparently needing only some minor tweaks here and there... But it's good that you went to see before committing to buy. Had it been in need of minimal work, then it might have been worth it for such a low mileage car. As with all classic cars, be sure to buy on condition - and if something doesn't look right, walk away.

Turbo or not?
Not uncommon for a 300zx.....

Turbo or not?
Yup - what Andy said.... ? And the parking aerial is apparently gone - it still has the switch near the clock, but nothing on the front bumper.... Fortunately! It's a nice gadget in principle, but actually spoils the clean lines of the car, definitely better without.....

Turbo or not?
You're welcome Nessie - it's what we're here for! Welcome to the club, by the way ?

Turbo or not?
Looks a very nice Zed Nessie - I reckon you will be happy with that, I know I would! And to reiterate what my fellow enthusiasts have said above, there were one or two equipment omissions in later models. Once the Z32 was withdrawn from sale in Europe in 1994, it soldiered on a couple more years in the USA, then from around 1996/7 to 2000 it was pretty much the JDM only. And by 1994, the Z32 was a pretty expensive car in the UK/EU - especially with the spec level we had become accustomed to (leather, climate, cruise etc). So when sales in the UK/EU/USA ceased, Nissan had to find a way to keep the price competitive as the market shrank - hence a few luxuries which had previously appealed to those previous customers were deleted. I believe you can still retro-fit some of those luxuries though; I dare say someone more knowledgeable than me will advise... ? Good luck with your search - and hope that white car is as good as it looks!

Is the manual really better?
PMSL - hence the Mr angry reaction to my post Lee.......? Hell, I feel so dirty having posted that, I need to go scrub myself head to toe with a wire brush and some Dettol..... And therein lies another joke ?

Is the manual really better?
...Which loosely translates into me conceding that, despite loving my own auto, the manual versions will always be more desirable; for the very reasons we have all shared in this thread. And without wishing to extol the virtues of the auto-Zed brigade any more, I will finish with the usual advice for anyone looking to buy a 300zx.... Just buy the best 300zx you can, whether it be auto or manual. Buy on over-all condition, not transmission or mileage - the available choices are ever-diminishing, as these cars get more rare. You can always get a manual conversion done later, if you want ?

Is the manual really better?
...And we're back to the original point - well and truly made by Si...! I love these threads, they incite thoughts, opinions, banter and even go into the world of dreams; like the possibility of spending £10k on converting a 30 year old Zed from having archaic 4 speed slush-box to sporting a modern 7 or 8 speed DSG! Hell, as the thread evolved, I even began to consider it myself, in the ideal world, where money grew on trees.... But we've done a full circle; the whole point of us owning a classic 1990's GT/sports car, is to enjoy that particular driving experience. To convert our Zeds into something modern, whether auto or manual, just like the cars we already drive every day, completely defeats the whole concept of owning a 1990s classic! My Z4 does the daily hack - as does Julia's car, both of which have nice modern 8-speed paddle shift assisted gearboxes. But then I get back into the Zed, and totally fall back into loving the whole analogue experience - which is why I will not give it up. Auto or manual, all Zeds are great - and whilst the auto suits my needs, I would not hesitate to go manual... Hence I also concur with Si's comment above ?

Happy Birthday Adam D
Happy birthday Adam - have a great day mate! Richard ?

Is the manual really better?
Exactly mate.... I'd be up for the conversion if I'd get change our of (say) £3500 max..... Otherwise, it's not worth the outlay - I'll soldier on with my lazy 1990s autobox until it fails, and then either go manual or get the 'box rebuilt.
-
Is the manual really better?
Indeed.... The only reason I have not gone down the manual conversion route in my Zed (aside from the fact that my auto-box still works), is that I simply prefer driving an automatic car on the UK's roads. My daily drivers have been autos since the late 1990s, so I have just got used to it. Besides, I frequently use my Zed for weekend days out - and for most holidays. And, unfortunately, traffic jams are more the norm than the exception these days, so an auto is simply more convenient. For me anyway... ...I love the modern auto boxes in today's German performance cars, so also love the idea of this conversion. Whether I'd do it (cost and lack of originality) is another question - but what an idea!!

The F1 Thread
I'm happy to run the F1 comp again - here's hoping we can drum up more interest than last year!

What did you do to your zed today?
LOL - I have to admit loving that too..... Petrol power rules ? Those Teslas - in Performance trim - are pretty rapid though. But just like the low powered Audis, BMWs and Mercs, those driving the basic Teslas (which TBH is most of them) still suffer from the same delusions of their cars being faster than anything else ?

90s cars that are relatively cheap today
Awesome - Funky Si's old car, prior to its last respray and removal of the 99-spec rear spoiler.....!

Sunroof !
I agree too. Interesting modification though - it must have cost a few £££s!! Looks like how Vauxhall did it on the Calibra
