insurance
Looks like Footman James have come good for you fellas; I'll have to give them a call when mine is up for renewal in October..... ......I'm currently with Lynbrooks on a classic policy and IIRC is was about £200-£240 for 5k miles. I am 41; live in a low crime rated area and have a clean license. Richard:sailor:

Some New bits for my ZX
Cheers bud - £400 + delivery on Ebay from a seller called mad*on*motors (or something like that)! Richard:cool3:

Some New bits for my ZX
Cheers Paul.... ....oh and yes on the Merc mate! Mine was in for a service a couple of weeks back and they had one in the dealers. It was only the 200 but it's still a lovely car. It's way nicer than the new Z4 and it makes the Boxster look very dated now I think I'll wait until next Christmas and then look into getting a 12-18 month old 350 with AMG sport pack. Providing they have dropped a sufficient few £££s from new.....:1eye: Richard:sorcerer:

car pics
What Gary said....... .....it makes all the difference - I did the same to mine. And as others have commented, you have a lovely looking ZX mate. White might be a fashionable colour at the mo, but some cars will always look good in white and the 300zx is one of them. Great pics buddy!! Richard:cool2:

Some New bits for my ZX
Cheers Gary - yes they are 18s. 8.5 front and 9.5 rear.... I just costed up a set of Goodyear F1 Asymetrics in 265/35/18 and 235/40/18 but the cheapest I've found comes in at £752 all in fitted. Although dropping to 255/35 rears brings it down to £694 (from Event Mobile Tyres)........ .....So I will try swapping the current ones first, but my existing fronts are 225/40 on 8x18s so they might be a bit stretched on 8.5 wide rims. My rears are 265s and still have 5mm left! Richard:biggrin:

Towing the 300zx
How can they do that - make sure the car is in neutral that is? Surely they would have to illegally break in and put the selector in neutral? And what about those cars (like Mercs) where you cannot remove the key unless the car is in park....? Sounds like they would end up damaging the car whatever way they tried....! Richard:confused1:

Some New bits for my ZX
As my old wheels really need a refurb, I was looking on Ebay the other day and found a set of shiney new Cruise 190s for £400. Not the best wheel out there but for that money they'll do the job......!! I've also decided to upgrade my head unit to a DAB one; as I have got used to having DAB in the Merc. So I snapped up the latest Kenwood offering, with the additional Bluetooth interface...... .....so 3 guesses what I'll be doing at the weekend....! Richard:thumbup:

Why oh Why.............
LOL - no need to explain yourself mate. I did put a disclaimer in my post to exclude any MPV drivers on this forum....:tt2: And maybe more cocks drive Audis than any other brand of car; rather than most Audi drivers being cocks......:winkiss: If that makes sense!! Richard:whistling:
-
Why oh Why.............
LOL - I know what you mean about some Audi drivers. But it is the minority that give the rest a bad name; and that minority are the sales reps in their company A3s and A4s. Usually the 2.0TDi S-line versions..... .......Or if they haven't made it up the career scale, then the lowly 1.9...:tt2: From personal experience, I have to say that the worst drivers on the road are not confined to a particular make; rather a style of car. And they are the MPV drivers. Mr hen-pecked father (or Mrs selfish mother) in a bloody Zafira/Scenic/Xsara/Galaxy etc etc. These idiots will cruise at 69mph in lane 2 even when lane 1 is empty; they will be pre-occupied with their rancid brood in the back, instead of concentrating on their driving. They think nothing about talking on their phone (mostly the mothers) whilst driving and will just move into your lane to overtake another MPV that is doing 67mph; regardless of how fast you may be approaching, even when you're just 1 metre behind. Just because they have no thought for anyone outside their own vehicle - and then they will stay in your lane when another MPV is 1/2 a mile ahead, until they pass that also. And they still won't accelerate beyond 69mph whilst doing so...... But worst of all, even when you have parked on the end of a bay at the very rear of the supermarket car park/M-way service area etc, they will be next to you when you get back to your car. And not just next to you - close enough that you just know one of their brats has flung the bloody door open onto your car without a care for your property. These fookers are the ones I hate - I can forgive any tail-gating sales rep in his Audi; for I can either drop the accelerator and lose him, or just safely let him pass. But Mr and Mrs MPV are just selfish, thoughtless scum - as I cannot forgive them for parking dings left in my doors.....:cursing: Richard:tt2: PS this does not include any MPV driving members - as I'm sure you all respect other peoples' cars like you would your own.......:winkiss:

can any1 help?? need a garage or mechanic who can change an engine 300zx tt
Jimmer is definitely your man for rebuilds; but for a straight engine swap then I would give JeffTT a call. Richard:yes:

Can i drive with expired mot?
Technically you can only drive to and from the garage to have the car re-MOTd. Whilst it may now be safe to drive, the MOT has expired so it is no longer legal to do so - you can of course at your own risk. HOWEVER your insurance will no dount be invalid if you have an accident - and driving without insurance carries big penalties. Personally I'd not take the risk. Make the effort to get the car back to the MOT garage ASAP so that you are legal. Richard:chef:

Digital TV reception.....
Cheers Mike - I have moved since then........ and replied to your PM!! I'll look into the the diagnostics bit; although I don't have a separate tuner for Freeview as it's built into the TV..... I reckon that might be the way forward Bri.....:surrender: Thanks everyone!! Richard:thumbup1:

HORRIBLE last couple of weeks.
Sorry to hear your bad news Dan - please accept my condolencies. Richard

Digital TV reception.....
Cheers Bri...... Luckily it is inside the loft and not out on the roof - so not too bad to get to!! Richard:cool2:

Digital TV reception.....
Thanks for the advice fellas!! So it looks like the aerial is the weak link; even though it has been working fine with both Freeview and regular TV until the last couple of months. Vods - I have a Sky dish bolted to the front of the house mate; although it's not connected (I was thinking of removing it as, even though it's the small see-through dish, it's still damned ugly:whistling:). I just don't fancy the extra box. But thanks for the offer matey!! My neighbour's son fits TV aerials etc - next time he's about I'll ask him to take a look for me. Cheers all - this place is just great for advice on just about everything!! Richard:cool3:

What have i done!
Mate - I can understand! Your yellow ZX was just awesome; and if Dave looked after it in the time he owned it, then you haven't done a bad thing buying it back. Hopefully you got a good price for Silver Streak and the MG, so that kind of justifies the cost. Plus if you were always intending to buy your old one back, it's best to do so now whilst it is still in great shape...... And I always say, regret what you don't do - not what you did. So if things get hard you can always sell it again! Welcome back; and best of luck with it matey!! Richard:cool3:

what's wrong with this zed???
Likewise mate - mine has received a nice clean bill of health; both from my local garage and again from JeffTT when he undersealed it for me...............:smartass: As for mileage, Quavey is spot on. Buy an older car on condition rather than mileage as, unless the car comes with full history and MOTs backed up by bills, then take the mileage with a pinch of salt. Mileage is only relevant on a newer car; where it can have a serious effect on the valuation. 150k miles on a 20 year old 300zx should be expected by now - any examples that have less than that without history or proper documented proof should be treated with caution. And as for "fresh" imports - thay always seem to have "57k miles" on them. Hmmmmm....:whistling: The thing is, the VG30 engine is remarkably tough and this is its problem. They go on and on, even in spite of poor maintenance (it's a Nissan after all); which can encourage people on limited budgets to skimp on servicing etc - just because the car is running OK. But with proper maintenance 200k miles (even on a TT engine) should be achievable..... Richard:cool3:

Some people! WTF?
And it still stops OK.......?? My god, there are some serious retards out there!!! Was it a white Transit by chance - probably because he's been using the vehicle in front of him to stop:cursing: Richard:oops:
