  1. Welcome to the club - and I look forward to the pics! Richard:cool2:
  2. Welcome to the club mate! Richard:cool2:
  3. Mate, I wouldn't risk it. Insurers can find any excuse not to pay out if you make a claim. Plus if you do have an accident the penalty for driving without insurance is bloody harsh! Don't you have another car you can drive for a couple of days? Richard:scared:
  4. Great news Craig; and it's looking good mate! Richard:chef:
  5. Yup, rest assured Iain is still around..... .....he doesn't get online as much at the minute but he did participate in the Committee's latest conference call....! Richard:cool3:
  6. Cheers Jimmer - live and learn....!! Richard:thumbup1:
  7. Happy birthday Nick! Richard:cool2:
  8. Happy birthday Ian - have a great day mate! Richard:cool2:
  9. Great news Dan!! But oil drops on the bottom of the engine - I didn't know that would constitute an advisory...?? Richard:yes:
  10. I've gone for the top as well..... ......I think that the front number plates spoil all cars here in the UK or Europe; the Americans have the right idea about not needing one!! But, I think that it looks far worse when we try to hide the number plate or mount it in a stupid place (like to one side - WTF is that all about???). If we must have front number plates, then leave them where they are supposed to be IMO! Richard:winkiss:
  11. Congratulations to Caz and Donna!! Funnily enough I did know that mate!! I hope it all works out well for them, Richard:cool3:
  12. LOL - I've noticed that too! You get a call from someone out in India; who speaks with an obvious accent and says "Good evening, I am Mike/David/John from XYZ ltd....." I just reply "no, you're not really are you....?" Richard:whistling:
  13. That does help - it's not failsafe but it certainly reduces the nonsence calls! Richard:cool3:
  14. To answer your question directly, yes. One has to be a subscribed member to sell on the forums. Unfortunately all threads seeking advice on selling from un-subbed members usually end up the same way in the end; as you cannot always control the responses received from other forum users. I hope that answers your question; since to avoid your thread going downhill I'm afraid I have to close it. Richard
  15. LOL - I'm with Jim, 1/4 of a tank is enough for 60 miles yet!! Richard:tt2::tt2:
  16. Hi Paul, All I know is that I have the full Command system with 6.5 in colour display; navigation, traffic message channel, linguatronic voice control, 6-disc CD/DVD changer & SD card slot; Harman Kardon Logic-7 with 11 speakers and extra amp, DAB tuner, Bluetooth, plus the little slot in the glove-box with the cables for USB or MP3 connecivity..... I guess that last bit is the interface, mate.... Richard:cool2:
  17. Actually yes, you have a point there Dave.... ....I was getting my "marks" mixed up - thinking of the Mk4 as a facelifted Mk3, instead of as a new car:whistling: So yes, the Mk4 was a step up from the Mk3 (although the Mk5 range was crap apart from the Cossie). But don't forget the RS Turbo came out in Mk3 form first - remember they were virtually all in white and looked otherwise similar to the RS1600i Martin started the thread with...? Richard:cool3:
  18. Yup - I agree with Gary and Tony..... .....always keep to the original spec plugs IMO!! Richard:sorcerer:
  19. Welcome to the club Ben! Richard:cool2:
  20. Brilliant!! Richard:sorcerer:
  21. Yes I did - it was decided and announced by the previous government a couple of years back...... .....although the present government does still have the opportunity to overturn that (and isn't it currently under discussion?) Digital radio is getting more reliable now though; I have DAB in my SLK and to be honest it works superbly. I can maintain quality stereo reception of regional stations like Absolute all over the country; plus I have the benefit of additional stations like Planet Rock; Absolute Classic Rock, Absolute 80s etc.... ...I have gotten so used to it that I have just installed a Kenwood DAB unit in my Z. And so far I am extremely impressed with its performance.... But as long as car manufacturers are still installing FM radios in new vehicles, then the government must re-think this daft policy. FM still has plenty of life and use!! Richard:cool3:
  22. If you already have a motor insurance policy, it may well work out quite cheaply for you to simply add another car to your own policy for the day.... ....I have done this before and it has barely cost more than a basic admin fee! Richard:sorcerer:
  23. I agree that it's a fine example - and I'd also have to say that Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts would be higher on my list than the Mk3...... ......but with reference to the sporting models, I reckon the later Mk4/5 got worse still!!! And I was never a Ford fan during the 1980s; but some of the cars from those days now have "retro-cool appeal" for me. I guess it takes me back to my youth. Which can never (sadly) be recaptured........ Richard:thumbup1:
  24. I'd say it's nothing to worry about as well...... .....hot weather, gearbox and exhaust all lurking under the transmission tunnel or thereabouts - perfrectly normal in my opinion! Richard:thumbup1:
  25. A belated happy birthday mate - I hope you had a good day!! Richard:blushing::cool2:
