  1. I have just bought a set of these too - along with the Brembo discs..... ....I haven't had them fitted yet, but for the price and brand quality, I'd say it's a good bet. And now with Graham's endorsement, I'll certainly be getting the car bookin into the garage ASAP! Richard:yes:
  2. Amen brother!! Richard:crying:
  3. Sad to see that Steve - but don't be a stranger mate. you're always welcome on here!!! Richard:yes:
  4. Hi Chris, I'm not so sure that the advice was to avoid Iridium plugs in general, or whether it was just a specific make (Denso maybe?). NGK plugs (albeit platinum) were standard in the ZX, so their iridium ones should be the same size. I think it was the Densos that were shorter - hence didn't reach into the combustion chamber as much as the OEM plugs should..... .....but personally I'd follow the general advice here and stick to the stock plugs! Richard:thumbup1:
  5. Honest answer mate - Auto Express tested both bulbs and there is very little between then in terms of performance. So, as you have HIDs in the dipped, save a bit of cash and go for the Osrams. I did and they perform perfectly. Plus the Osrams now come in "longer life" format so they should last a bit longer - which was, supposedly, an issue with upgraded halogen bulbs! Richard:rockon:
  6. Welcome Rachel....!! Richard:thumbup:
  7. Many happy returns mate! Richard:sorcerer:
  8. Happy belated birthday Rose! Richard:rockon:
  9. Just to update you, Brian is no longer the TLO. You need to contact Groover (Graham Jones) now. Richard:cool2:
  10. Looking good mate - looking very good!! Richard:cool3:
  11. Many happy returns mate! Richard:happybday:
  12. Looks a tidy car Jane - and I sincerely hope it serves you well. Hell, you deserve it after the Saab issues!! Good luck with this one...... .....incidentally I have a couple of Omegas myself - although I don't drive mine, I just wear them..... Richard:chef:
  13. I don't have an i-Phone and, despite the popularity, have never really been interested. My 'phone is just used as a telephone (and for the occasional photographs; or even as an alarm clock if I'm away from home). So as long as it is small, easily concealed in my pocket; and connects to the Bluetooth in my cars and makes/receives calls, I am happy with it. So it's a "don't care" from me...!! Richard:whistling::cool3:
  14. Lovely looking ZX there....! Did you have rain up in the NE today - it was lovely down here!! Richard:sorcerer:
  15. Running on 19s you'll need either 255/30 or 265/30 for the rears and either 225/35 or 235/35 on the front. 40 profile is too much for 19s Richard:cool2:
  16. Many happy returns fellas - I hope you each have a good day! Richard:clap:
  17. H1 bulbs are the size for the main beams - but remember to keep the little "holder" thingy when you remove the old ones!! For the reasons Medallion Man stated above, don't bother converting your mains to HID. Plus with HIDs in your dipped beam you may rarely need mains anyway....! As for brands, forget about the styling options, blue bulbs and so called HID tints. If you want proper light on the road that you can actually use to see where you're going, then go for the proven top halogen upgrades. The two best are Osram Nightbreaker and Phillips Extreme Vision.... I buy from these people and can recommend their services.... http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/h1-55w-headlight-bulbs/ Richard:chef:
  18. Sorry to hear that Peach:crying: Especially with the fine "Indian summer" we're having at the mo.... But I can understand your reasons - and I'm sure you'll have it back on the road in a much improved state in 6 months! Richard:chef:
  19. Sorry mate - back on topic for you..... .....Between Hankook, and Yokos, I'd chose the Yokos too. But I would check to see what else was available for the same money and compare results among them all. Richard:cool3:
  20. Flippin' 'eck Japslapper......:crying: .......your fronts wore that much..?? Mine hardly wear at all - same with the SLK - the rears inevitably do on a powerful RWD car. But my fronts seem to perish before they wear... Richard:huh:
  21. That is so true!! I remember having the redstuff pads fitted to my last 300zx..... .....dead scarey when I needed to brake hard about 2 minutes into the first drive of the day. Never again...... Richard:biggrin:
  22. Yes mate - find yourself a decent set of LED replacements! Richard:cool3:
  23. Wise move mate! And with HIDs in your dipped beam, you'll find that you will hardly use main beam anyway!! And if you do occasionally have to, just buy a decent set of uprated halogen bulbs (H1 size) for your mains - I went for Osram Nightbreakers myself.... Richard:cool3:
  24. You can buy Brembo or Mintex pads on Ebay for very little money at the mo - so that's what I'd do.... .....don't bother with the unknown cheapo brands though! Richard:cool3:
  25. I remember that too mate..... .....I liked it back then because it was a Vauxhall saloon that could out-perform many supercars in the day. And because the "responsible" press hated it, just because it was somehow "wrong" and un-PC that a family barge could to 176mph!! Now? Well it's a bit of retro-cool, but one that I would not want to buy. But I still (and I know I'll get slated for this) prefer it to the Cosworth!! Even if it's a Carlton (which I did hate in those days).... .....And Jimmer's bang on about the handling of "lesser" Vauxhalls from the day. I had an 8v Astra GTe back in 1990 - it was only 6 months old and still handled like a hippo on a roller-skate!! I would probably not be here now if I have bought the 16v version....:death: The Cavaliers of that age were OK though; I replaced the Astra (after tipping it on its roof) with a Cav SRi (again, nearly new at the time) and that way way better...
