  1. Lovely! Richard:innocent:
  2. Here it's not too bad - a mix of (occasional) sun and clouds. About 18 degrees too..... ....considering it's mid-October!! Richard:thumbup:
  3. Not likely mate - I'll get TT to cough up for it..... .....and I'm just about sick and tired of the continous loop of exerpts from Bros, Bonnie Tyler, Pondlife, JLS etc. It's not even the complete songs, it's a 10 second "preview" of the same 6 tracks over and over and over.... .....You get the message:wacko: Mental! Bloody hell, I've got the Nolans now!!! Richard:surrender:
  4. Thanks for the tip Rich.... ....might be the way forward mate. And I'm STILL on hold to TT's 0870 number...... ....f'ing con if you ask me - however much that is per minute:cursing: Richard:thumbdown:
  5. Of course it is Rich - how could I possibly let Ian down on his birthday!! Richard:whistling::wink:
  6. I have an update of just how crap TalkTalk is.... ....I have just rung their 0800 number, only to be told that "the offices are closed - our opening hours are 8am to 10pm Monday to Thursday....." WFT - it's Tuesday, 8.20pm - that means you should be open FFS. Useless - f'ing useless......:cursing: Time for a change I think:sneaky2: Richard:censored:
  7. I have (touching wood as we speak) a clean licence..... ....but I have only (so far) had 1 speeding ticket in my 23 years of driving. Back in 1993 my dad and I were en route to my cousin's wedding in Norwich. It was early on a Sunday morning and the M11 was empty so I wasn't haning around.... Anyway I spotted this plain white Vauxhall Senator (as some forces had in those days - a nice new 3.0 24v it turned out) parked up some way ahead on the hard shoulder, so thinking the obvious, I checked my speedo and slowed down to about 70-80mph and cruised past. I was right to do so, as soon as I passed on came the blues and he pulled me over. He had a new-fangled (1993 remember) monitor device on board which showed me appearing on the scene at 118mph - and then braking as I obviously realized he was unmarked police........ ......so he reported me for my "average" over that distance which was (phew) 99mph. I got the standard 3 points and a fine of £60 plus some costs - a total of under £100 IIRC (it was a long time ago!!). He could have done me for worse, no doubt, but he did make a promise - he agreed to tear up my ticket if he caught someone driving faster than me that day. Which was pretty unlikey really...... Richard:sweatdrop:
  8. Glad you did matey!! And I'm sorry I missed it yesterday...... Richard:wink:
  9. Happy birthday for yesterday mate! Richard:happybday:
  10. Happy birthday for yesterday mate! Richard:happybday:
  11. Hi Ian, a belated happy birthday mate - hope you had great day!! Richard:happybday:
  12. Sorry to hear of the this Steve. My thoughts are with you and your family. Richard
  13. Good luck mate! Richard:cool3:
  14. That's good to hear.... ......Zedders helping each other out like that. Top work fellas!! Richard:cool3:
  15. Many happy returns John! Richard:happybday:
  16. Welcome Rob!! Richard:sorcerer:
  17. You know Chris - that can actually work..... ....a couple of years back, BT really let my company down by sending incompetent baboons to repair my BCM system. As I got nowhere by contacting customer services, I obtained the e-mail address for Ian Livingston and sent my complaint accordingly. Of course, he no doubt got his PA to deal with the issue - but what was impressive was the speed that things were resolved! Within a couple of days, a very competent technician came out and replaced my BMC server - along with some nice new IP phones for the office. All FOC - and then on my next bill I received compensation; let's just say it was well into 4 figures!!! Richard:sorcerer:
  18. That is a good question and as such deserves a valid answer. This place is an internet forum for car enthusiasts - specifically the 300zx; that we know. National conglomerates like TalkTalk etc spend millions on advertising in order to attract new customers. They also know there are always going to be individuals who have a bad experience with their company but are realistic enough to know that one person having a pop at their service on such a small medium is not going to do them an ounce of harm whatsoever. I believe there was a similar thread (not started by a committee member, unlike this one:winkiss:) a few days ago about Vodafone. Same thing applies - these are household brands who are big and ugly enough to withstand the odd knock on a relatively minor internet forum which enjoys a limited appeal. Put an advert in the national press saying these companies are rubbish and it might be a different story though - although any significant brand of a consumer product is still fair game on exposes like "Watchdog." Back to the car forum point though - our members all have one thing in common; our 300zx. So if there is a particular garage that specializes in maintaining these cars, his/her business relies on people like us for custom. So a damning verdict on such an establishment, via a medium full of potential customers, can and will have a detrimental effect on that business. If or when it does, that business may well instigate litigation against the individual and/or the club for damages or the loss of earnings those defamatory remarks caused. Let's not forget, once that point is reached, the business may have nothing more to lose! So the smaller and more specialist the (alleged) wronged entity is, the greater the risk of repurcussion. Hope that makes sense... Richard:cool3:
  19. Probably because you're not at the arse end of the exchange..... .....well that seems to be the excuse the call-centre spuds in some far away land try to fob me off with......:censored: Richard:whistling:
  20. LOL - it seems I'm not alone...... .....keep the suggestions coming please!! I was thinking of going over to BT - I have no problems with my phone service and don't get a bad deal on that TBH. Anyone have any thoughts/experience with their HomeHub system - they are often sending me info about special offers etc.....? Richard:helpsmilie:
  21. Go on Dave - you know you want to.........:tt2::oops:
  22. I'm not one to sling mud about a national company in public but these cowboys are just doing my bloody head in..... I had previously been subscribed to Tiscali's broadband service for years and never had any problems with the service. But ever since Tiscali and TalkTalk merged, my internet connection has gotten progressively slower. And slower. And slower.:angry: So much so that viewing a simple YouTube video (or trying to) makes me want to put my fist through the screen. It's painful - each frame ticks by, stopping every 2 seconds to buffer. And even then, if I dare try to open a web page in another tab at the same time, it just cannot cope. And I end up with "oops internet explorer could not....." well you know the rest.:cursing: Hell, I have a new PC which is 3 times as fast and double the memory of the old one. My router is only a year old. Now, don't get me wrong - sometimes it works fine - but try to surf the 'net when there might be 3 or more people logging onto TalkTalk at the same time (like 6pm Mon-Fri) and forget it. So TalkTalk - if you oversubscribe, you simply cannot service all the customers to whom you provide a service..... Sort it you XXXXXrs or I'm off. And don't even bother calling me to try and sell your 'phone package - I'M NOT INTERESTED FFS!!! Can anyone recommend a decent internet service provider - I'll switch right away for one that works when I might want to view 3 pages at once!!!!! Rant over Richard:pinch:
  23. That is a very good point Leo.....!! Richard:thumbup1:
  24. Yup - it sure does. Although a lot of classic insurers do ask that you have another car (a daily driver or a company car) to qualify for classic insurance. And the car does not necessarily have to be over 20 years old - some insurers allow 15 year old cars also.... Lynbrooks has insured mine as a classic since I've had it - and it's a 1994:thumbup: LOL - it's certainly a good quote Dave.... .....Footman James seem to be coming up trumps this year so I will have to try them next month! I believe I paid about £235 last November for a 5k mile policy - so it will be interesting to see what Lynbrooks come up with this time.....:chris: Richard:yes:
  25. Probably more to do with encouraging "responsible" driving (which became more prevalent around 1990-ish; see below) rather than the limit of the car's capabilities. This was, after all, a sports GT car built from the ground up to go fast - and not just a "fast version" of an ordinary car..... Again, this came about circa 1990 (to encourage "responsible" driving) as some autobahns are still unrestricted. But not all German manufacturers signed up. It's really only Mercedes and BMW - Porsche does not restrict its cars to 155mph (never has to my knowledge) and Audi certainly did not restrict the R8 - although they may have done with "lesser" cars!
