opinion on Zed
If you can get it cheap then it might be worth a punt - otherwise as some have said already, running on 5 could be a simple fix like a coil pack; or at worse a new engine due to the current one being useless. For a 4 owner (4 UK owners presumably) 300zx to have no previous MOTs I would be suspicious. A lot of 300zxs are owned by enthusiasts who would make the effort to keep such documents to prove the car's pedigree should they come to sell it later. How many of us have receipts for everything they have done to their cars....? If 10 out of 12 years of MOTs are missing, then the car could have been owned by the type of person who wanted a fast car, bought it, thrashed it for a year or so, and then realized they couldn't afford to run it; hence got rid. Lack of MOTs for that period of ownership suggests some or all of those 4 owners were not exactly careful owners - which could point to the 5-cylinder running issue being more serious!! Just my thoughts - you could buy it for peanuts, spend a couple of grand and have yourself a nice car. Or you could spend a bit more and buy a car that is nice already. Caveat Emptor mate...... Auto grearbox service
Or do as I did and ask Jeff to do it for me......... .......not just to minimize the effort, but also Jeff can check that all is running properly afterwards. You don't want to do all that work only to find there's another issue with the 'box!! Richard:thumbup1:

Been training in Berlin for new Mercedes models this week!
Looks like you had a great trip Paul..... ....I also love the new SL; although I'll still be buying the new SLK next year as I think it's better proportioned. I had a look at the SLK 55AMG in my local dealers last Friday whilst mine was in for a service; lovely car but I reckon I'll stick with the 350 AMG sport. £66k is a bit steep for me, even though I'd happily sell a kidney for that V8....:clown: I saw the GLK at the Geneva motor show a couple of years ago and thought it would be an ideal car for Julia. It's just sad that Merc cannot make in in RHD (isn't it something to do with there being no room to fit the steering column on the right?). Still I hear that the next generation GLK will be available in RHD - although it's a couple of years off yet. Richard:thumbup1:

swap sell or break?
Voddy mate, whilst I hate to see another ZX potentially heading for the bin, in view of what you have said I'm inclined to think the same as our resident "other Ian the moderator." There are a couple of nice ones up for same at the moment - Boldy's of course - but if you can't stratch to that then njworsley's UK spec looks good value also. You could even keep your favourite after-market bits to update the latter if you go for it. Sometimes it's best to cut your losses and start again; hopefully recouping some funds by selling parts from your current car along the way. Just my thoughts though buddy - if you fancy a chat we can talk sometime over the weekend! Richard:surrender:

FAO:- Mr. Chris Bower
Great news Daz - please do tell me when they arrive so that I know the issue is resolved mate. Chris, no-one it bitching about it so lose the attitude. Yes, we know you have had problems but you have had plenty of opportunities to come on here and communicate with those good folks from whom you took money for goods. I am pleased to hear that the outstanding issues are about to be resolved once and for all. As I said, people's sympathies will only stretch so far and a bit of humility from you wouldn't go a miss, instead of getting uppity about an issue that is of no-one else's making on here. I'll take your comment in the manner in which I believe you meant it, rather than as it actually comes across, in view of your peronal circumstances. And if you are really saying goodbye to us all, then I too wish you all the best for the future. Richard

FAO:- Mr. Chris Bower
Hi Daz, I have been watching this with interest as well, since whilst I am sympathetic to Chris's cause, my own view is a reflection of Graham's earlier post in response to Chris's return to the forum. I do realize that Chris has some very major issues going on right now, but like Graham says, communication (rather more the lack of it) that is the key here. Chris has been given a fair chance to put things right; and I believed that was all progressing since Mark's very kind actions earlier. I will drop Chris an e-mail regarding your situation Daz; and if it isn't rectified promptly (along with anyone else's outstanding issues) then I will have no choice but to move for permanently excluding Chris from this club for his actions. Whilst (as everyone knows/appreciates) there is very little the club can do to help members get recompense in private deals between each other, the 300zx.co.uk club will not tollerate any member effectively stealing from another via our forums. Please keep me informed Daz, And one final public appeal to Chris - come on mate; please sort the outstanding issues ASAP whilst you still have people's support. Believe me, all sympathy and concern will quickly fade if the membership sees you have done nothing. Richard
