Missing Zeds
Sorry to hear this Dazz.... ....if someone has tried to register these cars with the DVLA themselves, then has DVLA written to you as the last recorded keeper to confirm that you agree to the transfer? Also, can the police not access the DVLA's records to see just who tried to register the cars and pay him a visit? And what of your insurance - I would presume you had the cars insured when you took them to this garage; so what happened since then? I hate to see this kind of thing happen and I sincerely hope you are fortunate in getting your cars back; or sufficient compensation for your loss if not. Good luck Dazz, Richard:no:

This is a long shot!
Just to get the picture.... So it's your neighbour's vents and they discharge onto your land? And your new build might result in a wall being 50mm from the vents? In all honesty, I would not have thought that it would make much difference as I have seen ventilator fans in similar sized areas; plus your new build is just one storey high so surely that would have a lesser effect on the whole issue of "blocking" his vents. Also as you say, even though the neighbour's vents have been there 20 years, the fact they discharge onto your land might also be an issue against him; so it sounds like there is a compromise to be had. If his vents should technically not have been there in the first place, I would have a friendly chat with the neighbour to see if he thinks there will be an issue with your new build "blocking" them. If the vents do need moving, then I would accept only partial responsibility; after all, since they should not be so close to your land either, he has to take some responsibility also. So I would personally offer to go halves on any re-routing costs; purely as a goodwill gesture. Richard

Automatic vs manual
Dave has pretty much summed up my own thoughts there. If you're not really fussed about driving an auto, then just best the best 300zx you can find. If that turns out to be an auto, then so be it. You can always have it converted later if you fancy a manual...... In principle it sounds a great idea but in practice, I have no idea how well the conversion would work on the 300zx with its 20 year old auto box. On a modern automatic car, which was designed to work with the sequential shift system, it is good; and depending on the car, probably faster than the equivalent manual. I have the 7G-tronic on my slk350, complete with the paddle shift. All I can say is that the auto merc is faster than its manual equivalent; and that the auto box in sport/auto mode can change gears faster and smoother than I can in manual mode with the paddle-shift..... .....maybe I just need more practice!!! I can agree with that. Whilst i have not owned a manual 300zx, I did drive several during my search. But as I bought the best available example at the time, I ended up with the auto. And my current ZX is also an auto; sure I have thought about the conversion but in everyday driving, I still find the auto fast enough to satisfy and it just breezes past "lesser" vehicles with ease.... ......plus when I happen to get stuck in a traffic jam (which let's face it, is inevitable and potentially often) then I am grateful that I stuck with the auto!! I'd happily own either version as long as it's a twin turbo!! Richard:thumbup1:

Prom night
Wise words Ian - and you have done a superb job bringing up your children mate!! Ian and Yvonne are great kids; a real credit to you!! And I'm sure there are many other really good parents out there who have done a similar sterling job..... .....but I cannot really say much else as I have no children of my own to compare. I fully agree with you about the relaxation of rules etc by bleeding heart do-gooders and the sad state one frequently sees in schools today is a direct result of these so called "progressive and modern" methods. Time for a revolution methinks - before it's too late!!! Richard:thumbup1:

Exactly Bri - bad show indeed. And to add insult to injury, Daz has lost a £25k sale to a competitor as his 'site was not up and running properly thanks to Chris not completing his part of the deal they had. That kind of thing is bad enough normally, but in the current economic climate when sales are not so easy to come by, then it really hurts. Daz, you are welcome mate. We all feel for you right now and any sympathy that fellow members had for Chris has, I expect, faded right away following this news. Richard
