  1. Yup - just what I was thinking too....
  2. Welcome back Art.... .....And if you know your old username, we can merge them together once more mate:wink: Richard:thumbup:
  3. Welcome to the club Bryan...!! Richard:thumbup:
  4. Many happy returns Craig...
  5. Hi and welcome Jason!! Good luck with your project mate - you have come to the right place for help and advice on all things Zed related..... And quite a few non-zed related bits too, it would seem.... Richard:thumbup:
  6. That is indeed a clever idea!!
  7. No idea mate - other than what Tom said.... .....Nonetheless, it does look like it fills the hole nicely; but whether it is of value to someone would depend on if it would work with the variety of after-market head units in our cars nowadays!! Or if someone had that OEM set-up but their centre speaker has died..... Richard:clover:
  8. What...?? Any decent single DIN head unit - if fitted properly with the brackets, behind the dash, looks fine. As long as it is of black finish to match the surrounding trim.... Unless you do a major conversion involving re-fabricating the surrounding dash, you're not going to achieve the completely built in look seen in modern cars Steve!! Richard:wink:
  9. Welcome back Trish - hell, it's been a long time since I last saw you on here!!! See, Lee (JaiKai) is an IT wizard, hence has already fixed your account so you are Tulip once more! I do like the new ZX and look forward to seeing what you have planned for it. Richard:thumbup:
  10. I agree - hell, having previously been a responsible company official; if any of my drivers had done that, I'd have fired them on the spot for gross misconduct. Wife/family/mortgage etc would be of no concern to me - driving away from the scene of an accident after causing £££s worth of damage to someone else's property is ALWAYS unacceptable. We're all adults and we have to take responsibility for our own actions, I'm afraid. It's like the mobile salesman who gets done for drink driving, thus loses his job - sorry, no-one else forced the booze down his neck; as an adult, he took that decision and must face the consequences. It's all part of growing up - if I should totally fook up in life, it remains my own fault and I must accept it. Likewise everyone else - we all must take responsibility for our actions. And the consequences of getting away with it, just breeds contempt - look at Suarez this week. That arsehole should be booted out of football; that would teach him not to bite people. But no, he gets a mere 4 month ban....:nono: Something needs to change the pathetic, apologetic culture which seems to have snuck in over recent years. Richard:mad:
  11. I have to say, and it is my personal opinion and nothing to do with 300zx.co.uk, but I would do just that Dave. Too many c*nts on the road knocking around in fooking pikey vans, driving without due consideration to other road users. Hell, if the cheeky b@stard told me he "thought he could blag it" and I knew where he lived.... He drove away from the scene of an accident - that is an offence under the RTA; so hopefully the police will do the right thing and charge him. As for the cost of repair/replacing Hannah's car, whilst initially you might make the claim via her own insurers; you have the third party's details so go for everything. Replacement like for like hire car until hers is fixed (or they pay out IF it's a total loss). I doubt it will be a write-off though - but make sure you dictate where it is repaired. Hannah is the innocent party - and you always retain the right to have the car repaired at a garage of your own choice. You want a top-notch job doing - restoring the car to its pre-accident condition; so if that means a main dealer, so be it. His insurers will be paying. I am sorry this happened to you/Hannah; but you have the benefit of the CCTV evidence. Julia was not so lucky a few years back - some blind/stupid/thoughtless twunt in some kind of lorry/tipper vehicle drove into her car in a pub car-park causing £1200 worth of damage. There was CCTV, supposedly, but the pub refused to hand over any evidence - I reckon the scum who did it was a regular there, or a mate of the landlord. This boils my piss Dave, so do as Si says; since you have the good fortune of catching him!! Richard:clover:
  12. Mikey Bean ~ Issued with a permanent ban with loss of all benefits. For those who might remember, Mikey requested his account be closed back in October last year - to which I duly obliged; but leaving the door open for him to return at any time. Which he did; albeit with the loss of his previous Breaker-yard trading privileges. However a few days ago, following reported posts by other members, Mikey was pulled up for an attempt at back door trading in respect of "his" new business venture. A venture, it turns out, Mikey is currently not registered at Companies House as [even part] owning; but one whose only directors are actually 2 banned members of this club! Rules are rules with regards to trading so Mikey's posts were edited; following which Mikey continued to publically contest the decision and make inappropriate comments towards committee members for doing their job - culminating in him receiving a 7 day ban. The committee has reviewed the case and, after much deliberation, agreed that it is in the best interests of the club, its members and legitimate traders, to permanently exclude Mikey from the forum. 13. Me too...... ......And yes, I have seen the "dream" one several times on here as well....:hyper:
  14. What he said......
  15. No mate - I'm not saying they'll get it right; just that the paint code is more important than whatever the actual colour is called!! I was probably lucky in Halfords - and if you remember that the car might be up to 25 years old, weathering and other environmental conditions might have had an effect on the original paintwork in that time. So even the right colour match from the factory could be a shade or two different if applied to the car now. Which is why a good body-shop will have a colour analysing device, enabling them to mix paint to the right shade and appearance as the other panels on the car. Richard:cool:
  16. That's not the bit you quoted from my post though mate.... However, when I said that the projector beam lens looks like [HIDs] "could" be OEM - I meant just that. If you look at 2 modern cars of the same model type, but one has HIDs and one does not, if the dipped beam is of the projector type (as opposed to seeing the bulb in the centre of a large reflector), then at a glance, the lamp units look almost the same. All OEM HID units are of the projector-type appearance - so the tester could be forgiven for not noticing or knowing any different.
  17. LOL - probably for the best Gray..... ......I'd not Julia near any of our cars in attempt to clean them!! I am pretty fussy and don't let anyone else near them for that matter - I always tell the garage not to clean my car when it goes in for service. I'd rather forsake a free wash and vac, than spend the next few weeks polishing out swirl marks and scratches caused by poor cleaning techniques!! Good luck with the new toy though!! Richard:cool:
  18. Yup - what Andrew said..... ....Mine is the same colour, but when having a touch-up pot mixed in Halfords, they just have the colour recorded as "Nissan pearl blue!" They did mix a good match though - from the colour code, irrespective of what it's called:wink:
  19. You mean you have not noticed? HIDs - whether OEM or retro-fit first come on very bright, then dim slightly, before rising back to full brightness over about 10 seconds. A bit like some fluorescent lights..... Is it called "arcing" perhaps....? Richard:cool:
  20. Hard hitting and, despite my tendency to agree with what Steve said, it's probably necessary to remind folks of the consequences of driving too fast for the prevailing conditions. It does make me seethe when I hear that the government (whichever one might be in power) wants to punish motorway speeders harder and with bigger fines; but seriously, in clear, dry, quiet conditions, why is it dangerous to drive at 100 on a motorway? Forget the fact that it is illegal - I asked why is it dangerous (it is, after all, legal on some German autobahns!)... ....But drive at more than 20 - 30mph past a school on a wet Monday morning in winter and you deserve to have your licence shoved sideways up your arse; and that's just for starters!!
  21. Nice one Alex..... And as for HIDs in a 300zx - whilst Alex's tester might be sympathetic towards retro-fits, the thing is most garages would not necessarily notice a conversion in a Z32. The dipped beam is of the projector type - so it looks like it "could" be OEM, even if the tester spots the obvious give-away on first switching them on. Plus, the beam pattern will most likely be spot on too - unlike those idiots who pop an H4 conversion in the regular lamps of their Fiesta/Clio/Corsa etc I have not had a problem in the last 8 or so years with my Zeds.....!! Richard:cool:
  22. Yup - definitely an NA. Looks quite a tidy car though....!
  23. Welcome to the club mate!! Richard:thumbup:
