lets clean up this place.
Well said Bri...... Whilst we have certain rules and expectations etc. to abide by, we try not to lose sight of the fact that this is an internet forum and we are all here to enjoy ourselves; and celebrate our mutual fondness for the 300zx... Sure, sometimes we might have to edit the odd post (usually because it's a fact of life nowadays that someone, somewhere, might take offence at something not necessarily aimed at them personally); you all get the idea:wink: But let's not lose sight of that reason - we're all here to enjoy ourselves; indulge in the banter and appreciate our mutual hobby!! It's a veritable jungle out there in the real, non-300zx world....:scared: Richard:cool:

Im leaving the club after being stiched up on a purchase
I am going to second what Gary has said here. I appreciate that several people are watching this thread with interest - but the people to whom this matter is truly relevant are those involved in the deal itself! As we always say regarding trading issues; the club will ALWAYS help out where it can and within the confines of the law (DPA) plus the willingness of the other party to co-operate. Nonetheless, please do remember that all trading transactions between two individual members are just that - just like buying anything over the internet, there are advantages and pitfalls... The fact that the seller in this instance is a moderator, makes no difference whatsoever - moderator, committee or regular member, we all have the same rules by which to abide. Thus far, the moderator concerned has not come forth on this thread - however we should not forget that he may have his own side to the story too. And at present, Silverline is in communication with Gary regarding his own personal grievance concerning the sale. So whilst I make no bones about taking the appropriate action in the event someone (whoever they are) is guilty of questionable trading, at this stage it is still a private matter between Silverline and the moderator concerned. As, when and if there is something to report, it will be reported so by all means please continue with the debate; be patient and respect the positions of all parties involved. With regard to future trading activities, the situation is under constant review. We have tried a couple of new things, but without much success so far - I personally am not keen on sellers and buyers "opting into" allowing us to pass on personal details as this could have future implications for the club in the event that an issue does get as far as the courts. However it might be a solution that buyers and sellers must first exchange details with each other, before completing a transaction - as said, it's still a work in progress....! Richard:cool:

Knocked a woman down in my Z a few weeks ago.
Thing is Peter - unless the incident was undoubtedly my (or in this case, Si's) fault - then I also hate to say, I'd have thought the same thing too:oops:

Thanks Dave - well said mate! Such words are sometimes best said coming from someone other than me or the rest of the committee. No one likes to see poor trading experiences and, whilst sometimes the action we can take is limited, we will always endeavour to do our best for all members. We also hope to learn from such issues and hopefully implement trading rules to reduce the likelihood of future occurrences. Richard:clover:

Not taken as a dig mate - and as I said, the committee are always here to help out in whichever way we can. If somebody does not want to go public for fear of thread closures, or whatever, you can always PM or e-mail one of the committee. Our contact details are publically available, just in case anyone forgets... We run the club for the members - and whilst we may not be able to please everybody all of the time - we'll always endeavour to do our best!! As Gaz has said (more than once on this thread), has anyone affected lodged a complaint with Groover? And if so, seeing as Graham is on hols for a week, please do feel free to contact Gaz, me or any other committee member to discuss. No-body likes trading deals to go bad; especially in such a small community as the 300zx fraternity. As a club, we have the interests of our members at heart - so if anyone has behaved improperly (even if it turns out to be a moderator, as has been suggested) then as the club's committee, we will still deal with it! I respect everyone's choice not to name and shame - and to be fair to all, if nothing sinister has been proven, it's probably the right thing - but you can still PM one of the committee! Or e-mail us - richardsmith@300zx.co.uk - garywilson@..... you get the idea:wink: We're here to help folks! Richard:clover:

Insurance Question. NZR.
Makes sense mate - although in this case (as with mine, rear end shunt, reliable witnesses etc) the "turd" party appears banged to rights; both morally and legally...

what colour for my wheels...
Yup - and like Si, if you don't keep them silver, then shadow chrome. Bronze works on blue cars - but it is a bit "1990s Subaru" for my personal taste...

Insurance Question. NZR.
I accept that Lee; but when the accident isn't your fault, you still may exercise your right to like for like replacement - but as you may not be able to claim for such on your own insurance, you liaise with their legal expenses recovery department and arrange for the third party's insurers to cover the costs; assuming they have accepted liability. I know the law has changed (or is currently in the process of changing) regarding credit hire - but the fact remains, if the third party is clearly at fault (and has accepted liability), then they must be held responsible for making sure you suffer the minimum inconvenience! As said before, I drive a nearly new, high spec Mercedes. If some twunt is responsible for causing damage to my car, then, providing they have accepted liability, why should I have to "slum it" for the duration of the repairs? My own premium is based on the type of car I drive - irrespective of the premium charged - so I would be seeking to charge the third party for what amounts to a reasonable cost in the event they were at fault for the RTC! Most insurers will naturally not include like for like courtesy car cover in their premiums - but then if I crashed my own car, I would not expect such a service!! Richard:clover:

Insurance Question. NZR.
Sorry Dan; but I "slightly" disagree here mate! I am not one to milk the system; but let me inform you of my own incident back in 2008. I had only had my old black SLK a couple of months, when some knob-jockey rear ended my car whilst he was on the 'phone. To say I was livid after spending not far off £30k for a 2 year old car - was an understatement.... ....So whilst having the car put back to its pre-accident condition was the first priority, I also did not want to suffer any major inconvenience as a result of some twunt not paying attention to his driving. Not long after the accident, I had a call from his insurer - Direct Line - they admitted liability (naturally) and offered to collect my car and deliver me a courtesy vehicle for the duration of the repair works. HOWEVER, I asked 2 vital questions - 1. where was the car being repaired; and 2. what courtesy car would they deliver...... .....The answers - 1. at our "recommended" repairer; and 2. a Vauxhall Astra. Sorry - wrong answers!!! As far as I was concerned, a 2 year old Merc, still under warranty was going straight back to the MB main dealers for a PROPER repair (rear end damage; roof mechanism and all that). And 2. I drive a high-spec Merc - and pay the prevailing insurance premium for the privilege - and the accident was not my fault; so why should I settle for a poxy Astra (no offence to Astra drivers) whilst my car is being repaired.....? Oh, and as the accident was your driver's fault, my own insurers are happy for me to leave the car with MB (having already recovered it for me); PLUS they are delivering a car of equivalent status to my house tomorrow for the duration.....!!! The next day, my insurers delivered a shiny new E350 CDi to my house - which I had for almost 3 months whilst my own car was repaired; I believe it took a while owing to how busy the MB bodyshop was - plus the time it took for all the new roof bits to arrive from Germany.... The point being, the inconvenience to me was minimised - which is how it should be for a non-fault incident; and what I meant by agreeing with Si's "take him to the cleaners" comment. I do not advocate making spurious claims for anything and everything - merely making sure Hannah suffers the minimum stress and inconvenience whilst the claim is handled! Richard:cool:
