Popular Zeds and where they are now
We're both right Si...... .....Sideshowbob owned it first - and he sold it to Wheelman; who then put it up for sale himself in 2011 https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?149119-Its-Time&highlight=sideshowbob Check post #19....!! This Zed was for sale at a place in Kent called Jap City in 2003-ish. I seem to remember seeing it when I looked a pearl white one there myself.

I thought the yellow one in the background, with the gold 5-spoke alloys, belonged to Sideshowbob....?

LOL - you're not old mate..... ...My comparison to the E63, was that the E is better suited to being an AMG than the S. I love the S-class for what it is - and I would also buy an S to waft, rather than to whizz around. S500 all the way - although I do rather like the new s63 Coupe...... Lot of money though!!

To shave or not to shave...
Me too..... Whilst the shorty does get away with being spoiler-less, in comparison the LWB, which needs the spoiler - I still prefer the original '89 spec spoiler on both versions. But as Pete says, your car, your choice. Who am I to say what's best for someone else....

Yup, that's them.....! The nearest thing I could find to the Azev A wheels I had on my old red Zed!! I was thinking 8.5x18 et32 for the front and 9.5x18 et35 rear - I know bugger all about offsets, but that's what I have at the moment and they fill the arches just fine with no rubbing etc. I am, of course, open to suggestions from Si or Andrew on the subject...

These........ ....And the supplier is only in Reading, so I can pop along to see an example before buying. They do custom drilling and off-set, so I can (hopefully) get the set-up just right; and for about £800-£900 for the set (wheels only, of course)....!

Not yet Joel..... ....It's still at Dasstech. I knew in advance, to expect Darren might be a little optimistic with his time-scales; Bobba has only just picked up his car after how-long.....? But I do know that he'll do a very good job. I must drop Darren a line this week, just for an update! I have been looking at some new wheels for when it's back - and certainly miss driving the Zed, for sure!!

Sad to hear that Si - I know from bitter experience that his previous guy (the one next door) had (ahem) issues..... There was no doubt as to his competence and ability, but that guy had no business acumen and would not know anything about customer service if it bit him on the arse. I was pleased to hear Jimmer had found someone else - so am sorry if someone else had let Jimmer down...

Thanks guys....:cool: Go for it Bri! The fella that owns the company I work for has the S63 AMG and it's an absolute monster.... Personally, I'd have picked the E63 as the S-class is more limo than tarmac terror; but you have to respect that 5.5 litre V8 Bi-Turbo....

2018 mot rules and HID,S
Seconded..... ......And another point, from one of the posts above, refers to HIDs AND LEDs; and to having washer systems, levelling etc. Well, not all new cars with LED lights have a headlamp washer system! My last SLK had OEM HIDs and had the intelligent lighting with washer jets - but the new SLC has LED intelligent lighting but no washer system....?? .....And I have just bought an LED upgrade for Julia's Evoque - as the OEM halogen lights are even worse than the old Zed ones - but that has levelling and washer jets. So will I get away with that? And as for swapping out my Zed's HIDs for H3s, just for the test - that won't be a 5 minute job; as I made the effort to seal up the rubber boot to make everything look OEM a long time ago...

As you're in Bristol mate, I'd suggest you give Jimmer a call..... .....He has found a new body-shop to take on such work - so should be able to get your car fixed properly.
