This week
Looking good mate.... ....And sadly not... I probably would have, but it's currently at Dasstech, from where it will re-emerge next year with new sills and a fresh coat of paint.....:clover:

Maybe Andrew, Jeff or Jimmer will know...!

Loud engine fan
No they're not Ali....! NA and TT couplings are slightly different mate. I'm not sure how internally, but the TT version has a little yellow dot on it, to differentiate it from the NA version...

Loud engine fan
Yup - ditto.... Great explanation Andrew; thank you for that....

Pistonheads Little 300zx Writeup
Thanks Andrew.... Interesting reading!! I thought that looked a good example - but then saw the MOT fail last month, due to excessive corrosion..... Only to see it pass one day and one mile later, without further mention....!! Now if the corrosion was that bad - bearing in mind what's reported - could it really have been repaired in a single day....? Certainly something to seriously question, if one is thinking of shelling out £15k.... Otherwise, yes; certainly a good write-up for the cars....

A very Merry Christmas to you all.....!!!

Autoglym High Definition Wax
Yup - Autoglym HD is a decent product. There are others out there which are easier to use, but this always seems to come out at or near the top in consumer product testing...

Classic cars now a full on bandwagon ?
Indeed! I mean, if you invested in an old Merc 300SL Gullwing, many years ago - and sold it on for a cool million at auction at the NEC last month - that's a nice tax-free profit... As long as you don't do it every year, that is. It's not the sum of money involved, it's the notion of the transaction...

New owner looking for some recommendations
Hi and welcome to the club Vish. That's a nice looking Zed you have picked up too - good luck with your new toy...:clover: Some good advice in the above posts. As for tyres, I also run 265/35/18 on the rear and 235/40/18 on the front; my Zed is lowered about 20-25mm on Meister-R coilovers and I have no issues with rubbing or clearance... I will also second the vote to get your car to Jimmer at Powerzed - Bristol is not that far down the M5 for you, considering the importance of getting the cam-belt done right! Richard:thumbup:

Classic cars now a full on bandwagon ?
...Oh, and I forgot to mention, like any asset or investment, a classic car would still attract inheritance tax; if it forms part of an estate following death of the owner!

Classic cars now a full on bandwagon ?
.....And adding to this, it is extremely unlikely that HMRC will change their mind either - as it would be misguided. If HMRC did change the law, bringing classic cars (and similar wasting assets, like antique clocks, watches, fine wines and boats etc.) into the realms of capital gains tax, then they would also be forced to permit allowances for losses by the same virtue! And since there is no hard and fast rule, as to what constitutes a classic car compared to any old car; think of the potential claims that people could submit for selling their Mondeo at a loss.....

Let's see your tree!!!
More to the point, I see you get to have a car picture in your living room, Chris...... ....That would not happen in my house, I would not be permitted...

Bloody Dipstick
Yup - current SLC43 has one, as did my R172 (2012/13) SLK350 before that. My previous two R171 SLK350s also had one - they were 2009 and 2006 models - that said, in that shape, I believe just the 350 had a dipstick, the smaller engines did not.....!
-
Bloody Dipstick
.....My Merc has one..... .....And it's not the driver...
-
What did you do to your zed today?
Yes indeed.....
-
Bloody Dipstick
Yup - same question..... ....I have no issue with the dipstick - granted, it is very close to those AC pipes.... And when the oil is new and fresh, it can be a little tricky to see it on the end. However I overcome the latter by lightly placing it on a clean piece of kitchen roll and checking the "blotch" is the full length of the little measuring tip.

Investing and trading are two different things, of course.... Granted, if a person regularly buys and sells cars, then yes; that becomes a business and income earned is liable to tax. I was referring specifically the investment side - apologies for the slight ambiguity.... If an individual buys (say) an E-type for maybe £50k [purely] as an investment and sells it 2 or 3 years later for £100k. The £50k profit is tax free; as said, a car is a wasting asset, therefore the gain does not count for CGT. Trust me, I'm an accountant....

What did you do to your zed today?
Yup - definitely mate!!

What did you do to your zed today?
Very true Gary - especially with the size of those arches!! However back in 1990, 16 inch wheels were pretty big - most family saloons and hatchbacks were running on 13s; and the then-high performance variants barely had bigger than 14s. I had an Astra GTE followed by a Cavalier SRi when they were still current - and they ran on 14s with puny 195/60 tyres..... The Mk3 Supra also ran 16s with 225/50s all round - even the mighty Porsche 928s4 had the same wheel/tyre size combo as a UK spec Z32...
-
What did you do to your zed today?
Yup - the Z32 was indeed so right, straight from the factory....
