upgraded injectors
Again, as per dannys post above mate, he's listed the price for you including new seals which IMO is a must, He may do you a deal on the chip required if purchasing the injectors at the same time, worth asking :) smithy

upgraded injectors
Just to remind you mate, you don't need any fuel rail kit, 300 degree or other if going with 555 nismos, assuming yer a pre 94 then the only benefits of fitting the rails are slightly cheaper injectors ( about 100 quid) and better fuelling to No.6, you purchase pre 94 nismos and they drop straight in. Just one note Mike on the 300 degree rails FYI :) they were over 2 years in the making and design off, they were designed around the border kit yes just like UAS ones, thats fairly obvious, BUT they did do them so they could be used with various options of injectors and to keep the fuel flow even across the 6 cylinders and yep I believe the 300 degree were flowed against the border ones. Considering any high powered Zed is running forged pistons and airing on the side of richness, then no real problems would actually be apparant with Border kits, that said, yes a real good piece of kit, i've sold a few in me time :) cheers smithy

Got my new shocks :)
You pay customs duties on the overall price including shipping, so 15 quid is correct, the 11 quid is obviously a UPS fee which often happens. Your lucky cos had the parcel gone astray, which it can, all you would be able to have claimed is the actual $44 and nowt else! smithy

upgraded injectors
For pre 94 Zeds the options for injectors are fairly limited, Nismo 555's being the most common drop in and capable of around the 500-550bhp area, price wise Dan has posted above, he can also sort you out the chip to run the injectors. For 94 onwards, the list of injector types becomes quite extensive and often cheaper too by around 100 quid the set of 6. The 300 degree rails on ALL zeds allow almost any injector to be used whilst at the same time addressing the 6th cylinder lack of fuel problem on the pre 94's, unlike the border kit which doesn't :) TBH mate, just get the nismos and chip and be done with it like many many others, you will only really know when an injector has gone bad or not upto the job when it's possibly too late, so for the saving of cheaper alternatives IMO ain't worth the grief! cheers smithy

single turbo conversion....
Stick with 2 tubs athene, if your considering 2k, then you would get some decent high powered ones for that money which would bolt straight on, no probs. The Z engine is literaly 2 x 1.5cc engines, using 1 big one to try and balance the 2 sides is a lot of work for the type of driving any of us would normally do, including track. The skyline however being a straight 6, can get away with just 1 turbo and many do it as well. smithy

300zx.co.uk-fest
Yer right andy, Billing is about as central as you can get :) The main advantage with this venue is the many other attractions billing has to offer, should you get bored looking at cars all weekend, theres other things there to do for you, your Mrs or kids. I would strongly advise contacting billing now to get a feel on what dates around end of april-1st week of may might suit them, some meadows there get booked a year in advance! It might be 7 months away, but that will soon pass, at least peeps have plenty of notice for time of work and arrange other personal things around it. So yep deffo put me down for this. smithy 1) duffers 2)fairladyzgirl 3)Big kim ? 4)mattymoo 5)hellraiser 6)retro620ti 7)boldy 8)coopers-swb?? 9)wozzer 10)smithy 11)anthonyd 12)

is this a good buy
Lukes is £75 PLUS VAT and delivery which is around the £100 mark delivered too. Gotta agree with the above though for buying within the UK or better from here, spare bulbs or faulty ballasts in a few months time can easily be sorted, plus Danny can tailor it to suit Jap spec or UK spec wiring ;) Do yer really wanna buy from a company who says it's an upgrade for the 350z when it ain't, in fact it would be a down grade for them, lol smithy

whats the next step?
Nope ! AS for brakes they are vented anyways mate but the Cylinder stopper seems to help mattters some ;) When you fit the clutch deffo do the flywheel, it's no charge to fit whilst the box is off, RPS Flywheels are gauranteed the life of the car and are fully rebuildable, ask Danny at DTA for a price. JWT ones about a 100 quid cheaper are also very good! As for the 6 puck though, just be aware this is a paddle clutch, so it's either on or off with no middle ground. The disc will also not last along as an organic disc will and be more expensive to replace in the future. smithy

"$+£$"##ing car-wont start now!
The CAS actually sends a signal to the ECU when it detects TDC, the ECU then fires the injectors up, the CAS and PTU will both if faulty can prevent start up. The CAS unlike the PTU if faulty simply prevents start up, the PTU can cause uneven idle/hestitation and failure to start. To test the CAS mate mark the position of the 3 x 10mm bolts that secure it in place, remove bolts and then CAS, connect the harness back on, turn on iginition and turn the spindle at the back of the CAS slowly, you should hear the injectors clicking, if you don't, it's fooked and car will not start. For PTU there are shit loads of second hand ones around, takes 5 mins to fit, if this works, save up to eventually buy a series 2 PTU at around 130-150 quid. smithy

rusty wheel arches
As Ossain says mate, not many bodyshops will happily do the amount of welding and fabricating required for this job, but 450 notes is mega cheap ;) I would still check under the rear carpet to determine how bad it is before he starts and then check again after he's finished. For that kinda money it suggests that he only thinks the one outer skin maybe gone, best know in advance mate. Oh and just to re affirm to others, this generally is a UK model problem, Jap specs with this type of rot are a lot fewer ;) smithy

rusty wheel arches
First thing to do before spending any cash mate is remove the rear seat, pull the carpet back abit and look at the rear floor pan. The rear sill section when it rots goes under the rear suspension and into the floor area, if both sections rot it can travel until both left and right sides meet in the middle, thats when Z's get scrapped! If alls okay, go to a metalwork shop armed with your replacement panels, they will cut/shut and fit far quicker, easier, better and usually cheaper than any bodywork shop can ;) then afterwards get quotes for the bodywork making good and painting. There are 4 rear sill sections, 1 outer and 3 inners and all sections bar one are cheaply available from MJP as a pattern part, the beefiest section that bolts to the rear suspension is only from Nissan and at £250 per side. Hope that helps bud smithy

Fan sapping power...
Yes Jay, there can be! An electric fan will only come on when the temp exceeds 85 degrees, so until then it is sapping no power at all, the car will also warm up quicker with no viscous fan cooling the rad on warm up. If you have an aftermarket temp gauge, a short breif test is to run the car with the viscous fan off, watch your temps very closley and see how long it takes to reach 85 degrees or even if it does :) I done this mod years ago on a silvia, i know a different car, but the fan only came on about 3 times ayear in total and you can fit an override switch to it as well for added safety. Last but not least :) how many cars built since the mid 90's have a viscous fan ?? hope that helps smithy

What Brakes?
When it comes to brakes for the Zed, the list is realy endless mate. From cheap to the absolute mega expensive. :) Few things to do 1st though, search the word "brakes" in the forums search box and get some ideas of what peeps are using and happy with. No matter what brakes you buy, fresh fluid, new decent stainless lines will make a big difference as to how they perform. If staying stock size, ensure calipers are fully functional, often 15 year old calipers could do with a rebuild to operate as they should. Have you a budget ? This is also the one area where so many different people have different opinions as to what is good and what is not for the money, so personally i'd go with what seems the most popular. IMO. I always reccommended DBA discs, Skyline guys in the UK and Aus are possibly the biggest users of them, on and off the track, their price is quite good too, they are also one of those companies whose discs have not yet been copied using cheaper materials and so they are not known for warpage or cracking. This link below shows a vast range to choose from and Danny (DTA) can pretty much supply any brand of disc/pad or 6 pot brake kits from around a grand and upwards. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=71307&referrerid=119 Hope all that helps bud. cheers smithy

Urgent! Advice needed!
I'd put money on the linkage under the windscreen cowls, it's happened to me on my Z and 2 other Nissan's as well! Theres a couple of metal bars that are attached to each other with a plastic knuckle and one in turn goes to the motor, the clunk is the knuckle breaking and she'l hear the motor still going, only temp quick fix is to remove the cowl ( even without tools will prise off) a piece of string attached to the metal rod, pull it in though the window and do it manually, done it before to get me home. Knuckle can be purchased seperately but is a royal PITA to fit, so easier to buy a new arm with it all ready attached. smithy

My manual has been off the road a fair bit this year for various works, during that time i've been driving my other Z which is a jap Auto and man i like it  TBH if someone offered me a crazy price on the Black Z (manual) I'd keep the auto, she's soooo easy to drive :) Oh and i've tried selling me auto and everyone says "oh it's an auto" as if it had the bleedin plague! if only they knew, lol smithy

need tension rod advice
Don't think it's a case of picking up the right ones from somewhere else mate, Powertrix currently only do Z32 rods and your the 1st person I've heard outta over 100 sets sold in the UK that is having this wee problem. :) Clearly though something has gone astray. Did you fit the green ones previously or were they all ready on the car when you purchased ? Heres the SPL fitting guide just to see if theres owt yer not getting right. http://splparts.com/doc/TensionRods/default.htm cheers smithy

350Z Brakes
Just as good as the GTR34 Golds and 350Z golds, just older mate, ALL are Brembo and all are the same size/dimension etc. cheers smithy

350Z Brakes
Yeah it's pretty good, can be pricey as the 350Z isn't that old so the calipers are not as common second hand as the Skyline GTR ones. Replacement discs however are more expensive than the GTR too, if I had a choice of 350z gold or GTR34 Gold, i'd go with the GTR ones, just IMO of course :) All a very good upgrade though so yer can't go wrong. Sorry just re read yer post. dohhh For the money which is only a bit more than the set ups above, the K-sport 6 pot kits seem great value for money, comes with everything and pretty much just bolts on :) Cheaper option, the Skyline GTR33 set up, Black/Red Brembos, being older they go for around 400 quid and require no drilling of hubs. smithy
