  1. All the info you need here mate http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=78096&referrerid=119 Smithy
  2. Wishing the clutch to feel as much as stock as possible but pushing 500bhp, is tbh mate, a dream. RPS and Exedy do numerous clutches for different power levels, search and see which seems best suited for a 500bhp car. smithy
  3. So getting back on topic! Yes Lee the guy as known by many on here and am sure elsewhere, seems to be simply chancing his luck by making a couple minor changes (albeit worse or better) and charging the earth for them, like many garages really. Smithy
  4. Geez mate and that's new ones on ebay? theres a reason why a pair of turbo's should be around 1K, decent that last! If fitting turbo's on a zed was as easy as a 200sx then no probs, but it ain't for sure. Yowers kit was pretty much ideal considering bolt on and all you need. smithy
  5. Dohh no one? :helpsmilie: smithy
  6. Hi guys anyone living any where near Upton Park in Enfield who wouldn't mind just looking at something for me please? Cheers Smithy
  7. It seems these companies have a minimum standard charge, i ordered simply screws, plugs, clips etc that could have fitted in a fag packet, charged me $45 yikes! I complained and got a $30 refund cos there is an option to pay less with USPS but it's not always used. Smithy
  8. Thanks fellas :winkiss: I've asked for pics right after the accident and any paperwork regarding the repair etc It's a private sale and tbh it's advertised for between 1.5-2K less than normal. Average price is 7K or a wee bit lower dependent upon mileage, this is at £4995 with 45,000 miles for a mid 2006 car. Will see if i can get the reg for the DVLA check. Cheers Smithy
  9. Thanks fellas, i assume if it's got MOT's since the accident it's pretty much okay too? is there a test the car has to pass after repair other than MOT? A HPI check i assume will reveal the CAT D but wil it say what exactly? Car is in Midlands which obviously i ain't, so as much info i can be armed with the better. cheers smithy
  10. If buying a car that was a CAT D what should i be asking for or looking out for chaps? It was front end body damage i believe. cheers smithy
  11. 2 halves stuck together or 1 big one makes no odds mate, spent ages with a guy once who had very similar problems, after much testing and head scratching the guy decided to swap the pipework around and yes while it looked that it can only go one way, it didn't. Once swapped all was good and not 1 problem. maybe supply some pics where the various pipes connect? smithy
  12. Is your car still not running right with andy's ECU and correct chip? If your engine is as bad as described above, then the MAF would come up as a fault in a simple ECU diagnostic. Other than that, did you fit your front mount yourself? if so be 110% certain you have the pipes on the correct way, belive me with some it's easy to get mixed up and will make the engine run rough if not correct. smithy
  13. Veilside from the same place as above smithy
  14. For "Real" 500bhp yes. Maf's internal diameters determine the maximum flow of air that the hotwire can read and send a pulsed signal to the ECU, This is why cars at their max which then go standalone, see a dramatic increase in power as the MAF is done away with. In the early days of fabricating, we made a number of new Maf's for different cars and the hotwires transferred over, Roger clark who now deals in Scoobies sells a larger diamater metal Maf, but uses the stock hot wire. Also how close or far the maf is from the turbo determines the strength of the pulsed signal, again you can get relocation kits for various models. Our Maf is quite large and used as an upgrade for other cars and we use the Q45 as it's 10mm bigger. If you want a confirmed 500, go dual pop with a selin translator for the signals and smooth running, job done! hth Smithy
  15. Same still applies mate, would like to know what injectors and as the MAF's volume only sustains around 480ish BHP, would be good to know whats done there too. smithy
  16. That's the ticket mate :gunsmilie: smithy
  17. Impressive figures, however it should need more than a forged block and some t28's to get such BHP at the wheels. Be good to see what else it has tho. Smithy
  18. I've read this so many times lol some 1 liners make it so confusing. I've understood car ran perfectly fine until engine blew, you fitted another ( or part off) and fitted the ancillaries. Car wouldn't start. You then went through various processess of checking things and chipping the ECU with bigger injectors. At no time you mention doing a basic diagnostic ECU check which is a godsend to any running problems. The ECU when faulty certainly lets you know, however usually it will in nearly all cases actually start. When it does it runs bad, usually a number of dash lights come on and stay on, the sub fan kicks in also. After the CAS has told the ECU it's at TDC the ECU sends a signal through the fuel pump circuit to make a full circuit back again, this part can blow and car will not start, no dash lights and no sub fan, however you can bypass it by jumping the circuit in the drivers side footwell Green relay. When fitting chips it is so easy to make a wee boo boo without even knowing it, hence why many chip suppliers only gaurantee their chips if they fit them. When this happens, engine starts but wont run properly and serious over fuels and usually dash warning lights. Point am making is all the various things you checked or changed before could have repaired the fault, but now due to simply a corrupt chip, your back to sqaure one. Definately have Andy check your ECU and chip seperately, so you know for sure. smithy
  19. These ECU's are quite robust, assuming it is your original ECU and not your chip or the fitting of your chip that was the main cause of your problems. Once you have fitted andyp's ECU, send yours to him as he can test it and test the chip too, i would expect anyways lol Smithy
  20. Send yer ECU with new chip in it to Jeffs, he can test to see if ECU okay and if Chip is knackered, which can happen when fitting, yes i know you know electrics, but it can easily happen. Once you know that, you can move forward. If after fitting a known working ECU with 555 chip and she has issues, then they can be addressed. Smithy
  21. Correct, so STOP! Do not mess around with it, get the correct ECU and chip sorted at Jeffs before any more playing. smithy
  22. let me understand this, you have fitted in the engine 555cc injectors but running an ecu with a chip for running 370cc ones, albeit upped in performance? smithy
  23. Cos it's a sign the ECU has a problem. TBH am in no way convinced its owt to do with the ECU if you are running 555cc injectors and have chipped the existing ECU for it. Misfire and on 1 bank is the problem? you've changed various hoses?, added blow off valves? You've either got a tiny boost leak, fitted a pipe incorrectly, unblanced throttle bodies, 1 bad connection somewhere, TPS setting, you've said plugs fitted? what ones? Oh and if those are your only symptoms, i'd be driving to Jeffs and sort it. smithy
  24. Their quality ain't too bad, however their quality control is something else. By that dave means that sometimes they will fit and sometimes they will not unless you can manipulate a wee bit, in short they should fit yours, but at least expect now to put a bit extra effort into making them fit. Fingers crossed and it appears luck of the draw, they may just wap straight on. Oh and you can try the Zcentre hth Smithy
  25. Lurvely mate, best performing SMIC on the market due to their core design and slight difference in outlets :2guns: smithy
