  1. Had similar around 6 years ago and that was with a series 2 PTU, this usues a secondary connector harness and it had somehow slipped out, it's now cable tied to the main harness and PTU itself lol Can't remember if it blew any smoke at the time, but i do recall a bang and a really erractic engine that soon cut out. Usally something like this is a blown pipe and i spent ages checking before simply pushing every connector and trying the car, pushed the PTU harness tried again and woof, of she went! Smithy
  2. Have you tried and ECU diagnostic check yourself to eliminate the obvious? smithy
  3. That said though, there is the odd genuine Zedder who would have had the sills cut out right back to the floor pan and replaced with the last of Nissan's oem ones (£400 a side) and then fitted new arches. They are around, just gotta ask when looking. smithy
  4. Assuming all is correct with the alternator you don't need a charger mate, simply a cheap set of jumps leads to start it then err drive! A garage will test the battery in about 10 seconds for you, if it reads 14.5volts the alternator is charging the battery okay. They can also check for knackered cells in the battery. However if you really want a charger, any 12 volt charger. smithy
  5. You can pick up a set of jump leads from most petrol stations for around a tenner, get her started and take to a garage or auto electrician to test for 14.5 volts. Think Jeff will do mail oredr on batteries http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=1414623&postcount=1 If you do purchase one else where, don't go lower than 70ah if you can help it. Smithy
  6. Yep thats it Bob. This is starting to become a fairly common prob with the wipers, simply unplug the connector and see if wipers work as normal EXCEPT the intermittent part, if they do, then there yer go. If not, then obviously it's something else. smithy
  7. In the drivers side kick plate where all the fuses are, at the very bottom there are various relays and plugs, disconnect the plug going to a small white box about 3in x 2in. Wipers should now work normally except the intermittant option. If thats the case you need another wee box (soz the name escapes me lol) However with this disconnected your dash will not light up at night when your headlights are on. If that doesn't work, then it can actually be the wiper motor. Smithy
  8. As said before, Mongoose. It's decent stainless, looks virtually stock which you wanted and ain't noisey. Oh and it ain't pricey either and often available second hand. Custom, is big money for deffo! Smithy

  15. Before things end up down the pan, can i suggest a few things in orer to help you and any possible customers. 1) Make your sill pieces up and work out a unit cost and see if more competitive than what's already on offer from an existing supplier. 2) Photo yourself fitting siad parts to your Zed. 3) Ask the committee/Znut in private for permission to become a trader and sell such parts and similar. 4)Offer your parts for sale assuming permission granted of course. 5)Look at doing ALL 3-4 sill parts as the inners are expensive and certainly the main inner from Nissan is over 200 quid plus vat, sadly this i know lol 6) Look at doing battery trays, Nissan have stopped making these, they wern't cheap to begin with and if everyone went out and removed their battery today, they'd be surprised to see that most are starting to rot. All IMO of course, food for thought before a Zillion peeps say yes and it turns out you may not actually be able to do them, albeit cost or permission. Smithy
  16. Links don't work mate, but in your 2nd Pistonheads link, both vids are there. The camera facing the front is by far the best! On the day he did it, it was kinda last minute as there was a hail stone shower in the North of the Island and it delayed the big senior TT race, so they let him do a lap instead, so without having to be cautious down Ramsey way, he may have even been a wee bit quicker! What a true manxie with bloomin big balls lol Smithy
  17. Seeing as it's nothing unusual, you've tried your local Nissan dealer? Smithy
  18. The Max is the street or 6 puck, your choice. The lower down version is the Sport street and 6 puck. Pricey but well worth the money is the carbon carbon which i have :-) Smithy
  19. Can he not get them, Mike can pretty much get anything. smithy

  21. Seeing as you asked lol Brembo's were only used on the GTR33/34 and possibly the V spec GTR32. 200sx's of either model didn't have Brembo's. As for interchangeable, yep the Brembo's fit without a problem BUT using the correct sized disc. A lot comes down to using quite a large disc and then a caliper to suit, ours are 280mm so a decent size really for an 80's-90's car. Wheel design and incorrect offsett is the only real cause of issues with clearance. 1.5mm is very tight, however many have it without issue. Smithy
  22. No probs mate, a much worthy cause imo that sadly effects the vast majority of us in some way through family and friends etc. I hope with the goodwill of others on here, you go way beyond your goal. cheers smithy
  23. Done my bit, now you can do the bloody hard bit lol Good on yer  smithy
