Nice pic! I dont have them on my car, guess they're heat shields for the cats? Does the smoke stop when u switch engine off? ie a blowing zorst. If still smoking with engine off there must be oil/grease in the heat shield tray, those mothers get wickedly hot.

Hi mate, Why not go back to the Nissan garage and ask them to explain why they said compression was fine on the first day. Are they a reputable garage? I wouldnt have thought they'd try anything dodgy. Tell them that the car's alot worse since they checked it and you want to know why, they should be able to explain . Has it got a blown head gasket? I wouldnt have thought you need a new engine, especially at $9000.!! Good luck , let us know what u do hey, p.s. hows the weather over there? :-)

LOL willieo, thats the 1st thing i noticed too, rotational tyres pointing the wrong way, guess theyre just slung on temp' while the works done.

Anyone have any ideas? When im coming to a halt there's a clicking creaking noise from the O/S front wheel area, when brakes are pressed. Only happens going forwards and only when the cars warmed up a bit. Had it on a 4poster lift today and all the joints are sound - no play . Brake pads are half worn - loads of meat left. Anyone had the same prob? Cheers

Im with willieo with the gearbox leaking onto hot zorst, is it an auto? I used to have an SD1 and when u booted it the smoke even came into the cabin. Stopped at traffic lights it would bellow out from each side of the car.

Idle in neutral should be 750/800 , 1000 is too high IMO. (1000 with AC on yes) In drive it'll drop to about 600/650 i think.

PML that reminded me of me! coffee cigarette fone, concentration on the road is the key. I find the most distracting thing when im driving is having a passenger.

Are the tyres old and unevenly worn? does the car go to one side if u let go of the wheel? ie. if the tyres are pulling to the right, youre doing left hand down to go straight.

Nothing to worry about mathew its probably just a cambelt tensioner siezing up :x: only jokin lol, tho it happened to me once in an alfa sprint - shredded the belt to bits ! Does it do it stationary so u can locate it a bit? like give us a clue what area?

Ive done my o2 sensors , still get the black pipes tho , scorpion stainless stained steel :-)

Have u got the engine temp sensor plugged back properly after doin cambelt? give it a wiggle fan will stop.

Is it an after market steering wheel? has the steering wheel jumped on the spline ? what happens if u try moving it with the engine off?

Hey Matt, nothing to do with your question but, im interested in RX7's , used to have a turbo ll, the one before the twin turbo, it was maybe not quite as quick to 100 as the Z , so does the twin turbo feel alot quicker than a stock Z to u? and how does the handling compare? Im thinkin of gettin one, cheers

Make sure u get the video evidence too, they have to provide it if asked for. Mate i know its a hassle but dont give up! Please look at http://www.pepipoo.com there is loads of helpfull accurate information there. Was it a long standing 30mph speed limit on that road or has it recently been reduced to 30? Keep us updated mate.

Mine is 80mph at 3000rpm o/d and lock up. Try followin some lorries on the motorway next time, most go exactly 60 so yours may read nearer 70.

51X - and u werent in overdrive? i think your speedo is prob way out, mine was when i got the car, reading about 15% slow. Cost me 200quid to get it set up accurate at Protech. B19rks - it might be max torque @ 3600rpm i dont know, but if u mean change gear at those revs (?) u would be left standing.

Theres a great dual carriageway near me , only about 1.2 miles long but i can get 140 and stop for the roundabout, surely 130 over 1.57 miles is diabolical no offence, mines almost stock , just a decat.

Ive experemented with this too and found that in my car , foot to the floorboard, wait till about 95mph ( do it too soon and nothing happens) then click overdrive ON and the revs jump up by about 250 and very noticably accelerates even quicker. apparently its not too good for the box tho! Ive posted about this before but no one else seems to have tried it? Its very good if u have a scooby nipping at your heels.

sounds interesting! what town is it? Is it like a private road /car park? Not a main road?

Ive never heard of that before. Creaking when stationary! Its deffo not the pedal? Can only think of knakered pistons in the calipers , loose calipers, grit between piston and pad, how can the front tie bar bushes cause it? im not saying they dont tho. Interesting to see the replys to this Q :-)

A smear of copper grease on the back of the pad will help. If the pads /shims look fine , are the discs ok? Badly worn discs will squeel when they get hot.

I had this happen once on a Lancia volumex, but that had a long plasticky spindley nitemare dipstick! How the hell can it break a solid Z dipstick?! Does the engine sound sweet? Could u have bent/twisted/weakened the dipstick while its been out laying around?
