Worn tyres less grip?
Cheers guys, yeah they are SO2's, used to swear by them - my opinion of them has now changed! I mean whats the point in a tyre giving great grip when its new and crap when its 3/4 worn?! Fook 'em. Ive got Goodyear Eagle F1's on the front , gonna get same for back now. Have any of you worn a set of these low yet? Rich - do u think theyre as good as the michelin pilot sport?

Worn tyres less grip?
Ive got Bridgestones on the back, they stick like glue to the road,(or did!) but recently have been twitching / sliding a bit in 1st / 2nd gear full power ( on dry roads). I dont trust them enough to power thru roundabouts anymore. Its deffo the tyres and not suspension related. They're 9mnths old and done about 10k, and have about 3mm even tread left all over. Question is, does the rubber compound get harder as the tyre wears, giving less grip? I would have thought not. The less tread the more grip on a dry road isnt it? a bit like F1 racing slick tyres. Any of u guys found the same? Was gonna let them wear to the legal limit but think i'll change 'em next weekend now. cheers

another possible write off
Have u got any pics of the damage? If youre interested, the guy that does my servicing works from his uncles garage, called Autobody repairs , but its in Highbridge Somerset, miles away. The reason im saying this is because his uncle, Pat, does bodywork very cheap, he repairs write offs every day of the week - chassis work and whatever else. Here's the funny bit - he's so cheap because he is 73 years old! But believe me he is good! I reversed me Alfa into a post and he took the bumper off, pulled the dents out , filled and sprayed , got it back good as new, for £35! I would imagine the 2k youve been quoted would be more like 5 or 6 hundred with Pat. Just thought id mention it, if youre interested i'll let u have his number.

Wtf?!
Doesnt the steering lock when the key's out? sounds dodgy as fook!

another possible write off
Hi Edd, shame u cant keep it, cant u do some of the repairs yourself? Take it u were insured third party only? 2k seems fair tho, a good Z (white auto) near me sold for 3k last mnth. Or perhaps try ebay?

Buying an 86 300ZX Turbo
Great holiday Ross, id love to do that! If the Z seems sound there's no reason why it shouldnt make it, give it a service before you set off. Sell it when you're done and all it's cost is the gas. ps. how much is a gallon there now? and can u bring some back please :-)

Strange Alpha
Isnt the cloverleaf the 4wheel drive one? very rare. Yeah the handling isnt good, very sloppy lol but i dont drive it hard. Its a great cruiser tho, very quiet even at 100. The chassis' the same as the saab and also Fiat Croma and Lancia Thema.

Strange Alpha
Nice link Matz . I love Alfas, anyone here got one as your daily car? Mines a '91 164 V6 lusso, old but sooo reliable - never have to open the bonnet. Not one spot of rust either, i think they were galvanised. The SZ looks great , ive never even seen 1 on the road, only 1035 made!

Transport 2000
The page on the link below was created by Transport 2000 to help their supporters counter the arguments against their 'speed kills' campaign, some of them are ridiculous - check it out! "A 1mph increase in speed = 5% more accidents!" "Cameras aren't there just to raise cash because the £60,000,000 per year they bring in is nothing compared to total inland revenue receipts!" 60 million is nothing! Ha HA HA yeah right! What sort of pathetic argument is that? http://www.transport2000.org.uk/activistbriefings/SpeedandRoadSafety.htm

Very nice mate, i like the nose , not OTT like some are :-)

Bloody insurance company
I always get my mechanic to fit a seperate immobiliser switch hidden in the cockpit, only costs a tenner . Ya5een, didnt they want to see proof of a tracker fitted when they insured you? If you're paying by instalments you could just cancel the policy and insure with someone else.

optimax!!
Greg, If you're in Weston there's a shell garage 8 miles away, i use it all the time and the optimax is cheap too. Its in Clevedon, jnct 20 turn right at r-about then left at next r-about.

FFS, there really are some w@nkers out there!
Naughty but funny as fook! I thought it was an unwritten rule of the road to do this, if ya cant laugh at it you're takin life too serious IMO, its only a splash not a suicide bomb! Having said that , i never walk near puddles lol.

Speed Kills??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spot on Pete! With the roads getting more congested, i'd like to see dual carriageways built alongside all motorways for the use of HGV/ PSV only, freeing up m-ways for cars / LGV only. All paid for by the existing taxes on the motorist, with change to spare. Hehe the greens would be out in force .

HICAS good or bad?
I dont know how much the rear wheels actually turn, but it must be hardly anything by the feel of mine, do u know paul? 5mm ? I like the feel tho, a kind of controlled twitch when hammering thru a roundabout. Very clever i think.

electrical problem help!!!!
I done the same thing mate! It was ages ago tho, i think the fuse was blown on mine and i just replaced it. You sure it aint blown? , cuss you've shorted across the interior light.

Speed Kills??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All im saying is speed doesnt automatically make you dangerous. Srrae, when u were hit doin 60 , what was the cause of the accident? The biggest cause of motorway accidents is tailgateing and this is caused by ppl driving too slow and bunching up, you dont often get tailgated when your doin 100. Also driving at 60-70 is very monotonous and turns u into a zombie driver , drowzy and falling asleep on m-ways. Theres an A road near me (A38) where the great powers that be have reduced the limit from 60 to 30, now 90% of cars using that road are totally pissed off and drive on the rear bumper of the car infront, and perform frustrated dangerous overtaking manouvres. There's been 2 big accidents since this happened. There seems to be a myth that slow = safe! amongst the car haters.
-
Speed Kills??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would the 24 year old in a 1litre car accelerating on to the m-way get hit by someone doin 100??? This is nonsense scare-mongering. When u see something ahead coming down the slip road u pull out a lane and give it room dont u? its called reading the road. And if the 3 lanes are buzy u wont be doing that speed anyway.

whats best for power and everyday usage- Manual or Automatic
Lmao!

Speed Kills??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gworilla, i agree with your views ,except some lorry drivers are ok. The thing that really makes me mad are the ever increasing numbers of scamera vans "keeping an eye on your safety" but give us your money partnership grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! . Wiltshire have announced they're recruiting civilians to man their new vans, (currently they have 5 coppers doin it). This may not even be legal, a bit like when civilians operate radar guns, but they cant fine you , just a 'friendly' warning letter. Speeding in built up areas is dangerous, thats obvious, but these bas***ds target wide open dual carriageways where their presence is more likely to cause not prevent accidents, with drivers hitting their brakes on spotting the c***s. And the m-way speed limit is a joke yes, it gets tricky concentrating on the road when youre constantly looking for coppers, are they - on the next bridge? - coming up behind you? - hidng infront a lorry in an unmarked car? - sat watching at a service station or roundabout? etc etc. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. speeding drivers caught this week - 12987 burglars caught - 7

Smoke @ idle left zorst only.

Import manual TT vs UK Manual TT
Incase u didnt know, UK has wider rear wheels - 245 tyres , imports are 225 all round. Now, do u want no rust, or do u want leather heated seats? Joke- there's good and bad, import or UK , mines an import , happy with it , no rust, and insurance wasnt a prob, cheap and easy.
