  1. Quick reminder of physics: Current passing through a conductor generates heat The higher the resistance (eg poor connection, smaller diameter cable) greater the heat If you increase the wattage of the bulb, it pulls more current equals more heat in cable. If the current pulled is outside the current carrying capacity of the cable, it will melt The increasing of the earth path, either a better earth connection or the installation of an earth net, will increase the paths back to the battery, better path = lower resistance= less heat This only affects the cable on the return side of the lamp, if the bulb is pulling too many amps for the cable on the feed side, it will melt no matter how good your earth is
  2. Those arent the turbo pipes (mines is an NA) I have sprayed but the air intakes to the throttle bodies, the original hard plastic ones.

i want to know where I can find a lady to lie upside down in my zed and take things off:(
  4. I have just done all the belts including the cam. I would also agree about the sense of achievment. Get your spanners out and get amongst em.
  5. Hi sahid,, and welcome to the forum. I know where youre coming from , re living in croydon and all the listed mechanics seeming to live up north. I am waiting for a name from one of the members for a decent sprayshop in sutton, which is not too far away, when i get it i will pass it on. As for the mechanic, I ended up doing it myself, although my car is an NA and therefore easier to work on. There is a guy who is recommended in kent, I have his number and will look it up for you when I am home at the weekend.
  6. not in a position to comment as per the relative pros and cons of waterand or oil cooling, as I have an NA. However, and I think this was the original point, they left a connection off your car. Either they did this because in their considered opinion, water heating was over engineering on the part of Nissan, or because they are lazy bastids. Now if someone makes a change to anything ofmine, even with the best of intentions and doesnt tellme, or ask my opinion, I would be annoyed. If some lazy twat, who I have paid good coin to fix my car,, leaves something undone, I would be annoyed. So the answer to your original question is yes, you (and every other right thinking person) should be bloody anoyed and go round and tell the twats. Just my humble opinion.
  7. james, I used halfords enamel paint and primer,I think if you are one of the lords patient children you could do it a lot better,I am not. I sanded the fascia down lightly with 600 grade to break the surface and then in with the primer (after cleaning it of course) I got a bit sily with the paint first time round and put too heavy a coat on ( no patience) and had to clean it off and start again. As a result there are a few patches on it,but to match my impatience I am not a perfectionist. A little time taken would see it right:) Powerlord: Nice saltyre
  8. not too bad for 9quid. looked at the specialist stuff 20 quid a tin and the recommend primer, colour and fixer. Being tight must be in the blood, lol
  9. and then I lost the plot and started on the interior.lol. Somebody stop me
  10. with pipes in place
  11. coutersy do an original gear knob for about $26 if memory serves, I got them to send me one when I ordered the 60k service kit, lovely!
  12. first thing I did james, and had a good look at the weekend when I did the 60k service. The only thing I can think of is a) thermostat was well up the chute (60k should have sorted that) or b) matrix is blocked full of shit. but as yet no dissapearing coolant, either into the footwell or onto this green and pleasant land. Dont know whether, if the matrix was blocked there is another flow path for the coolant. There must be at least one as there is a flow path when the thermostat is shut, and presumably another when the heater is off, so can only think matrix is blocked , coolant uses another flow path back to the rad. Unless, the geezer who had it before me had done the link tube and not let on
  13. had a bloody good look in the manual for you, and as far as I can see the motor for the doorlocking is in the passenger door. Although I will say it is not very clear. Sorry if this is absolutely no help :D
  14. thought I would wait till they dried tho
  15. used enamel paint from halfords to brighten up a few bits from engine bay
  16. not an opinion, but made me laugh
  17. This is on my list of "things to do" as I havent done the bypass and still dont have any heat in my car. if either of you get round to it before me , take plenty notes and pics :D

James, damn you make me smile. lol
  19. Vijay, All the bike mags recommend that you ask them for the asking price in full before allowing them to ride your bike, if they dont have the cash/ bankers draft with them, they are not there to buy. Couldnt agree with james more, take a biggish mate and meet them at the local petrol garage. Do NOT take anything but cash/bankers draft as a deposit ( and apparently some bankers drafts are dodgy) Like has been said before if they are genuine, the wont mind. Especially if you spell it out when they phone to enquire.
  20. Have no direct experience of that particular model, but anything that keeps hot air out(and therefore allows colder, denser air in) can only be a good thing. Also In my humble opinion a cotton guaze would be easier to clean than a steel mesh. Just remember to oil the gauze. Welcome to the forum by the way:D
  21. also , have you looked at B19RKS sticky at the top of for sale forum?
  22. Gio, FWIW, having striped all mine off, the only thing I would say is that off the three IDLER pulleys, the one top centre and the one RHS (facing the engine) are true idler pulleys, the one LHS is a tensioner,(or mounted onto the tensioner) and is the only one with any adjustment. HTH
  23. just finished the 60 k service just had an exhaust The 99 front end is sitting in my garage along with a new rear spoiler awaiting some paint Note to warren: did you find that guys name??? Picking up some bits from andy soon, awaiting ddelivery of a mirror slam panel and a billet oil cap Thinking of enamelling the top cambelt covers, looked at the price of buying them coloured but I am tight as f*ck so I will do them myself Trying to decide whether an ecu upgrade is worth it for an NA
