Have to put a point in. When you say "Welsh", I presume you mean the celtic/ Iceni race? Because I think you will find that the irish and scots fit in there somewhere. As for immigration, the point seems to be that there are two types, those who are economic immigrants and those who are claiming asylum. IMHO there is no reason that we cannot put economic immigrants through the same process that OZ, NZ, Canada etc do by checking that they have something to add to our country and the wherewithall to support themselves and family before allowing entry. The asylum seeking immigrants: while it is right that we as a developed wealthy nation should offer safe haven to those people of the world who are in trouble, under the Geneva convention, they are duty bound to claim asylum in the first safe port. Thus the only people who can legally claim asyum in Britain are those who fly into one of our airports. So, by default, anyone who arrives via boat or train has not followed the requirements of the Geneva convention and cannot claim asylum.
  3. I am from up north, but live down south. Do I win a prize????:D
  4. cheers JB, Further investigation required on all fronts I think. Jock
  5. 1)My speedo has stopped working, cuts in some times, but generally dead as the proverbial, Any clues? 2) Was taking a friend of mine for a spin on that well known private race track "caterham bends". Due to the above prob have no idea what speed I was doing but estimate in the middle to high eighties and letting it rev higher than I would normally. On an overtak, I wasnt watching the rev counter but knew it was in the 5k range and the limiter cut in! WTF? It doesnt redline till 7k! I tried it again and the same happened. Is this usual? or can I raise the limiter? Cheers Jock
  6. I did mine in a weekend, there are a couple of sites which give a good idea of whats going on cambelt guide Dont take them as gospel, but they are close enough. Make sure you have a set of long reach Hex (allen) keys:D

I just cut the cat temp sensors off, am planning at some point to follow them and find a plug/connection and do it properly. As it stands I get no warning light etc, I can only imagine you would get a warning light if you took a blowtorch to them :)
  8. thanks jeff will do. Just noticed from the pic, how pissed is my panel between the lights.....Doh!

you must hrough some toothbrushes. Yhat is p[ossibly the cleanest underside I have ever seen:D
  10. the school of thought is that you should do the water pump, oil seals and inlet water hoses at the same time. If you are halfway mechanically adept, it is possible to do it yourself

I would be really interested in this, but I am not fitting another 99 front end:rolleyes:
  12. My missus (god bless her), Just bought me a Pioneer DEH-P3500MP from halfords (£200) and it does it all (artist, album, track names), rather well. Was well surprised how much you can burn onto a CD, loads!! Best thing was, it wasnt even my birthday :D HTH
  13. Dave, Cheers for the offer, hope you enjoyed, are enjoying your holiday. Jeff, You are the man. Cut that support bar out and fitted like a dream. One question, whats the sensor wire screwed on to the bottom of the support bar? I've attached a pic, some saw it in the flesh at the greyhound today. Not perfect as the paint has to be flattened and buffed, but going the right way
  14. cheers jeff, I will try that in the morning. Thankfully I havent finished the painting, else I would be kicking myself, the scratches I have managed to put on it are easily covered.
  15. I will, if and when, at the moment it is like runner up in the "looks good from a distance award.
  16. am in the middle of fitting my 99 front end. I offered it up, and cant get it to sit flush, have the drivers side flushish, but the passenger side is riding about 1/2 inch low, and when I tighten the bolts, its just pulling the bumper or the bodywork out of shape, any ideas??
  17. there is a school of thought to filling them with grease, but it is messy and of questionable value

Once again I find myself agreeing with Paul. I actually have an NA, which has been decatted, and it runs better. KMH: fill your boots, you wont regret it. You may need to look at your fuel mix,as the free flowing air (especially with a bigger exhaust) may cause you to run a tad lean. At low revs (minimum throttle opening) this may cause the car to hunt a little which is why a lot of people say that if you remove the cat the car loses power. If evidence is needed look at performance exhausts for bikes, first thing they do is remove all baffles and give a straight through pipe. I know that somweone will raise the specter of exhaust valves which is about effectively changing the lenght of the pipe rather than the amount of air through it
  19. Just popped down to Lancaster Nissan in croydon. As per the title of the post, the guy there was a great help, sorted out part numbers, put the ones I wanted on order andd explained what is and isnt transferable between jap and uk Zeds. Got to say, good work fella.
  20. my humble opinion: if you want plot, depth, storyline etc go to the library. For me the cinema is pure enjoyment, you could sit there and rip the piss out of the film, pick up the inconsistencies in the plot or guffaw at the unlikely stunts, but whats the point? There is enough bollocks in this country that you pay through the nose for and can moan about, why do the same with your own entertainment? Sit down, switch off your analytical mind, arm round the mrs, gob full of popcorn and enjoy! :D
  21. love the smell of sarcasm in the morning :)
  22. Removing the cats should make a minimal amount of difference (if any). If you are concerned you can always lag the pipe with heat binding, but I cant say I noticed a change to the noise inside the car. I certainly noticed a change from outside, but I would have been peeved to say the least if it hadnt :)
  23. I agree with paulc, if it doesnt matter anyway, and you have the time, get amongst it. Worse case scenario: you take a box of cogs down the scrappy as opposed to a gearbox. Best case you learn a new skill and win the admiration of your friends and peers :D
