Back from Gulf
Welcome back.... and a job well done out there:)

Does it piss you off? vote now:D
I will put my hand up and say, as a new zed owner, that I have posted quite a few questions. In my, and others defence, the search does not always answer the questions, either due to my lack of knowledge on what to search on, or in some cases, the previous threads turning into a slanging match of differing opinions. As someone who is going through the process from buying a car to making sure it is ok, to doing a 60k service and making a few mods, I would be fully supportive of a FAQ section and quite happy to add what knowledge I have and the sh*tloads I am gaining along the way to it.

Politics: 300ZX.Co.Uk Euro Referendum
I am not joining if they are going to start effecting our cloths, what will I wash my zed with? The truth of the matter is that this poll is about as close as you will get to a vote on the issue. President blair and his wicked witch have their hearts set on being the glory couple of europe and he wont let a small thing like public opinion stand in his way, and his labour cronies will support him as it is the closest thing they will get to socialism. My own personal opinion is that we should take on the american system of government, where everybody from the local sheriff (chief constable) upwards is elected and therefore directly responsible to the people for their job. Tell germany (who are only trying to do with politics what they couldnt do by force), france (who will always side by germany, even when they are getting humped by them) and everyone else who has an opinion on how this country should be run to sling their hook While we are about it lets f*ck devolution out the window. Scotland wins the right to raise money by taxes, and the right to spend it. So.....we are allowed to spend our own money....and some f*cking nobjockey voted for that?? I'll get me coat ( and pick up my toys on the way out :)

some advice
also forgot: 9) take a rasp and shave all your knuckles, it wont help but it will save time later 10) Buy cheap socket sets, that way you wont have to take out the headlight to retrieve your 12mm socket 11) while busy with the rasp, take a couple of inches off the widtrh of your hand, saves dissapointment when you realise your hand will not fit in "that" gap. 12) ignore all the above and really enjoy youre first marlboro of the day (that doesnt taste of oil) and a cold bud in the knowledge that it is done :)

some advice
1) dont wait during a sunny day and think you will service the car tommorow. 2) if somebody tells you its a lot easier to take a zed to a garage than service it yourself, believe them, they know what they are talking about 3) if you find a site on the web that tells you it is a step by step guide to doing a service, dont believe them, it will only end in tears 5) The one tool you dont own, be it ever so humble, will be the one youwill need on a wet sunday afternoon when halfords is shut (6mm long reach allen key) 6) dont use your 12v electric drill with a nut runner attached to undo pully bolts, the smell of a burnt out motor is a terrible thing. 7) Do not wear your best boots 8) No matter how long you stare, or how much you look, the aforementioned tool will not appear in your tool locker, nor will halfords ring up to say that they are opening just for you. Trust me on the boots:(

99 spec bumper
beermonster, Got mine from from zedcentre, cost £290, but there was tax ontop and it comes bare so you need to consider getting it sprayed. Good service though. Had a butchers today, as I was under the car anyway and looks like a straight swop. As for the grill I am going to put a smaller mesh on, and will probably use a few spots ofg fibreglass too hold it in place

Car restoration?
get a 3litre capri, fix it up, then learn about rear wheel steering. I only say that as it was my first car and always wanted to turn it into the Tickford Capri. I'll get my coat

Zorst tuning
dont know if it helps any, but used to have a straight through remus exhaust on my bike, it came with some plugs which I could jam in the end to pass the mot and pull out again. It may be possible to do the same with a car exhaust

Plugs for NA
At the risk of startuing another war. Went to halfords today, asked for PFR6B-11 plugs (see i did read the threads) He didnt have them but looked on his box of tricks and came up with NGK403s which are BCPR6E-11s These are the same plugs quoted for the NA on TTZs site. Thought I would ask before I buy? They also recommended Bosch 511, but the trhreads on here seem to slate bosch so removed them from the equation

NZR Source for cheap computer desks wanted!
you got me there, thats better (and tidier) than mine
-
When will you computer guys sort it out?
always thought it a bit silly that we can have walkabout digital phones, yet if we want to use a dial up connection, we have to have a wire running across the room, someone should invent a wireless box which sits by your pc and connects to your homestation the same as the walkabout phone does

NZR Source for cheap computer desks wanted!

filing the stop to allow butterflies to open more!
well I have an 89 jap manual with screw fitted, and the kind loan of a conzult. What test would you like to see?
-
Whats this!
You can wash them carefully, but you must take care to a) rinse all the soap out b) dry them thoroughly &c) re-oil them, tool of chice for this one is K&N filter oil, its red and you can see where you have sprayed

filing the stop to allow butterflies to open more!
just a thought, if the ecu or whatever had to be remmapped to deal with the throttle on a wider opening, surely you wouldnt need to put a limiter on it? Throttle would open, engine would run like shit, no problem (from a potential limiters point of view). You would only limit, or indeed use a throttle opening if it was going to work in the first place? I say this because they used to put rubber grommets into the throttle bodies on bikes, particularly Kwackers. Cut out the grommet with a stanley and another 20 or so of the finest ponies ran out. Have I made sense, or should I get my coat?
