  1. can only give my thoughts on the auto box on my S70. If I am in traffic I drive around in manual gears, being a big heavy car the extra "engine braking" given by being locked in a lower gear (as opposed to the auto box selecting the highest gear asap) means that I am not so heavy on brake pads. If I am giving it some (yes, volvos do give it some occasionally.lol) I use the auto box in drive (with the sport button) as it makes a much smoother change than I could and does it bang on the rev limiter. Hope this helps
  2. have to agree with paul, mine only comes out when you follow the procedure. Thank f**k.:)
  3. is it only me who has two aluminium chocks in the jack compartment in the boot?
  4. try andy z, he has a listing on the main page
  5. well the one over the cat is not a problem, as I removed the cats and put a straight through pipe on. In leiu of a different answer I went out today and filled the gap around it with mastic. I know what your thinking, it will melt and smell like sh*t, and I thought the same until I checked the tin, it is good for 250 deg C and whjen I checked some exhaust bandage , it was only good for 170. Have run it for a while and it seems ok. Heres hoping:D
  6. it does have quite a high octane level though doesnt it?
  7. an apple and an orange!!! you lucky, lucky B*****d:(
  8. it should just be a case of washing the foam, and putting som filter oil on them, should be good as new. Did mine the other week. Make sure the foam is clean and dry before putting oil on, dont want to be sucking soapy water in

  10. only trying to bring this back up to see if anyone has an answer
  11. though none of them are gay. Which could mean I am homophobic, in denial or in the closet:confused:
  12. you may be right there as I have what looks like an arial on the passenger side bumper, which doesnt work (cos its disconnected?) Although I am not short and can park. Though I should say that my ability to get long red things into tight spaces in no way implies a desire to to wedge anything else long or red into any spaces or voids, tight or otherwise. Nor does my claim to "not be short" imply that I think there is anything wrong with people who are short. Some of my best friends are short!:)

look on the for sale forum as dave is selling a pair of leather seats
  17. Whilst having the exhaust done yesterday, I noticed that the exhaust heat shield was rusted through where it clamps just below the outlet manifold. Whether because of the new pipe, or because I didnt hear it over the noise made by the old pipes, I dont know, but it was vibrating like a bugger this evening. Question is: Can I just remove it? or should I remove it and lag the pipe? is anything going to melt, ignite etc? Or anything else anyone could suggest?
  18. No, its Longlife

presumably the same one the insurers use. I had a load of trouble with my volvo S70, as the reg came up with a 2L diesel manual, while mine is a 2.5 petrol auto. Dont think just anyone can access it tho
  20. and the new one :D :D :D :D
  21. Further to the post on longlife exhausts I got one fitted today. Haven't laughed so much since I was a boy. Weighs less, looks good, and sounds like the puppies privates. A pic of my old zorst
  22. the reason for the other gizmos they stuck in bike exhausts was so that they tuned the bike for top end speed and then inserted the above make the bike more user friendly at the bottom of the rev range, eg : so that you didnt have to rev the nuts out of it to pull away. I should point out that the YPVS, the original of the species, was designed for the maddest two stroke ever to grace thestreets of this green isle The 350 LC. The proof of the pudding is that despite the added gubbins the R1, Fireblade et al all run better on aftermarket pipes which remove the various "powervalves"
  23. as I am 35 I am a bit confused as to whether I am 25-35 or 35-45 I will go with the 25-35, looks better
  24. dont pretend to ba car person, but know bikes. In a bike the only thing that wants back pressure is a two stroke, hence the w*nky little hair drier noise through a piece of microbore. Four strokes? Exhaust gasses are like bad drunks ...Just get em outside in as straight a line as possible! you have a look at a sports exhaust on a bike and it is a straight through pipe.
  25. If I remember right you can join two PC's together (win 98>) using a null modem cable and the serial ports. There is a help chapter in windows (home networking?)
